The House being informed, "That in the Petition of the Honourable James Bertie Esquire and his Children, presented to this House the Sixteenth Instant, praying Leave to bring in a Bill to enable him to raise Portions in his Life-time for his Younger Children, there was an Omission in the Prayer of the said Petition, of the Words ["One Thousand Pounds and Six Thousand Pounds"]; and also of the Word ["Portions"]:"

Whereupon it is Ordered, by the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said Petition may be withdrawn and amended by the Addition of the Words so omitted.

Which being accordingly amended:

It is further Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition, as amended, be re-referred to the same Judges to whom the said Petition before stood referred, with the like Directions as in the former Order.

Bubb, to change his Name to Doddington, Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to enable George Bubb Esquire and his Issue Male to change their Surname to the Surname of Doddington."

Cornwall's Bill.

Hodie 2a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for the exonerating and discharging the Manors, Lands, and Hereditaments, of Francis Cornwall Esquire, and likewise the said Francis Cornwall, of and from certain Articles of Agreement, made before the Marriage of the said Francis Cornwall."

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Bill be committed to the Lords Committees aforenamed.

Corporation of Newcastle, Bill.

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act for vesting several Lands, belonging to the Master, Brethren, and Sisters, of the Hospital of The Holy Jesus, in Newcastle upon Tyne, in Trustees, to be sold; and for settling on the said Master, Brethren, and Sisters, a perpetual Yearly Rent of One Hundred and Eighty-five Pounds in clear Money, in Lieu of the said Lands."

Hodie 1a vice lecta est Billa, intituled, "An Act to naturalize Peter Rose, Charles Corssar, and others."

State of the Coin:

The House (according to Order) was adjourned during Pleasure, and put into a Committee, to take into further Consideration the State of the Coin of this Kingdom.

And, after some Time spent therein, the House was resumed.

And the Earl of Clarendon reported from the Committee, "That they had come to Two Resolutions; which he was directed to report, when the House will please to receive the same."

Ordered, That the Report be now received.

His Lordship accordingly reported the Two following Resolutions; videlicet,

Bill to prevent the melting down the Coin:

"That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That a Bill be brought in, for the more effectual preventing the melting down the Coins of this Kingdom.

"That it is the Opinion of this Committee, That a Bill be brought in, for making for the future the Silver Plate of the same Fineness with the current Silver Coin of this Kingdom."

Then the said Resolutions were read by the Clerk.

And the First Resolution, being read a Second Time, was agreed to by the House.

And Ordered, That the Lords Committees this Day aforenamed do consider of proper Heads for a Bill to be brought into this House, pursuant to the said First Resolution.

Then, the other Resolution being again read, the same was also agreed to.

Bill for Silver Plate to be of the same Fineness with the Coin.

And Ordered, That the same Committee do prepare a Bill pursuant thereunto; or a Clause for that Purpose to be added to the former Bill, as their Lordships shall think convenient.

Their Lordships, or any Five of them; to meet To-morrow Morning, at the usual Place; and adjourn as they please.

Ordered, That this House be, on Friday next, put into a Committee of the whole House, to take into further Consideration the State of the Coin of this Kingdom.

Adjourn.
