PRAYERS.
Several French Protestants took the Oaths, in order
to their Naturalization.
Fountain versus Coke.
After having heard Counsel, on the 13th Instant,
upon the Petition of Andrew Fountaine Esquire, as also
upon the Answer of Edward Coke Esquire, put in thereunto, upon the Debt owing by Mr. Covill of £. 1860
decreed by the Exchequer to be Mr. Coke's Money; as
also having heard Counsel, the 20th Instant, upon the
Debt owing by Mr. Backwell of £. 542 9 s. decreed
likewise to be Mr. Coke's Money by the Court of Exchequer:
After due Consideration had of what was offered by
Counsel on both Sides thereupon, it is this Day ORDERED and Adjudged, by the Lords Spiritual and
Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the Decree of
the Court of Exchequer, from which the said Andrew
Fountaine appealed, as to these Two Sums, videlicet,
£. 1860 and £. 542 9 s. be, and is hereby, affirmed;
and that the Petition of the said Andrew Fountaine, as
to the said Sums above-mentioned, be, and is hereby,
dismissed this House.
Howard discharged.
Upon reading the humble Petition of Stephen Howard,
now in the Custody of the Gentleman Usher of the
Black Rod, for speaking scandalous Words of the Lord
Bishop of London; shewing, "That he is very sorry
for his having repeated the said Words, and acknowledges his Crime, and begs Pardon of this House,
and particularly of the Lord Bishop of London; and
praying to be released."
It is thereupon ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal in Parliament assembled, That the said
Stephen Howard be, and is hereby, discharged, paying
his Fees; and this shall be a sufficient Warrant on that
Behalf.
To Sir Tho. Duppa, Gentleman Usher of
the Black Rod attending this House, his
Deputy and Deputies, and every of them.
Harris & al. versus Osbalston & al.
Whereas there is a Cause depending in this House,
wherein John Harris et al. are Plaintiffs, and Robert
Oshalston and others are Defendants, which was appointed to be heard on Wednesday next:
It is this Day ORDERED, by the Lords Spiritual and
Temporal in Parliament assembled, That this House
will hear the said Cause, by Counsel on both Sides, at
the Bar, on the 4th Day of February next, at Ten of
the Clock in the Forenoon.
