of Sir Thomas and Dame Elizabeth his wife; Ralph to enfeoff them of
lands to the value of 10l. yearly within two weeks after marriage, and after
ten years, if 'Dame Johaan the wif of Thomas Carmynou squyer' died
within that time, or if not, whenever she died, to enfeoff them of 10l. yearly
in land; Sir Thomas to have the 'kepyng and the governance' of them

died before the marriage, William to marry her sister Elizabeth; Sir

Tregenfreys, Treulecyon Woeles, Treulecyon Wartha, Pordeustek, and a
ferling of land in Carnellas, viz. a moiety of the whole town, as divided for

Godrevi mill, and likewise for Tregelohan, Trebichan, Tyenuran, Trebervet
and a moiety of the town of Carnellas, with the homage and service of Ralph

as follows:—the said Richard gave to the said John and his heirs all the

co. Cambridge, inherited or purchased by the said Alice and her ancestors,

A. 10082. Indenture of demise by Thomas Treithyan to Ralph
Stondraher, for the term of his life, at 6s. 8d. rent, of a pit (cisternam) in the
town of Mederos, then in Ralph's occupation, to draw stone-tiles (lapides
teculat') and all other stones from for his own profit, with three men working
there from day to day, employing as many men as he pleases to clear (ad
purgandum) the said pit, so that once in two years it be clear (ita quod in
quolibet duobus annis semel sit pura), with free ingress and egress to carry
the stones from it, and this with the tenants of the said Thomas paying to
them as much as to others; if it happen the said pit to fail (deficere) it
shall be lawful to the said Ralph to dig land sufficient on the west side to

A. 10083. Indenture being a memorandum of the covenants made
between Edmund de Watford and Robert de Craunford, viz. Edmund has
granted Robert 35 marks, so that Robert shall marry his daughter Margaret,
and he shall grant them in frank marriage 1 mark of rent from a messuage
and virgate of land in Dyngole, which Robert Martin holds for his life, with
the reversion thereof, in discharge of 13 out of the said 35 marks, also the
rents issuing from the land which was Robert Harm's, William Blake's,
William de Baddeby's and Anneys Robyn's, and from the cottages which
Anneys Simond and others held in Assheby Leger, in discharge of 10
marks thereof; of the residue he will pay Robert 8 marks on the day of
marriage, 2 marks on Lammas day (a la Goulant) and 2 marks on
St. Luke's day following; Robert shall grant the said Margaret for her life
a messuage in Assheby Leger, worth 6s. yearly, and 32a. land there which
Nicholas de Craunford gave the said Robert to him and his heirs for ever;
Edmund also grants that Margaret shall dwell with him (aura soun sojourn)

A. 10086. Indenture between Walter Menhyr and Ralph Tredenen
of the one part and Henry Richard of Bodmin of the other, witnessing
that it is agreed between them that John Nanskelly son and heir of John
Nanskelly shall be married to Joueta, Henry's daughter, and Henry shall
give 20l. to their marriage at their full age, and the said Walter and Ralph
delivered to the said Henry the said John and all his (cez) lands and
tenements in whatever places they be, and all the muniments touching the
inheritance of the said John, that is to say, all the muniments touching
Nanskelly, Penhal, Tregony, Truru, Tregena and Bossulyanbyan, and the
muniments of a tenement in Bodmyn, wherein the said Henry dwells;
and the said Henry shall deliver the said muniments to the said John
Nanskelly at his full age; if Joueta die before the said John be of full age,
he shall be married by the said Henry, William and Ralph, and if he die
under age, the said Henry shall have the wardship and marriage of John
his brother, doing to him as to his brother John aforesaid; bond by

A. 10095. Exemplification dated at London, Tuesday after St. Andrew
the Apostle, 1275, under the seal of the officiality of the Archdeacon of
London, of the sentence, dated at London, Wednesday after St. James the
Apostle, 1258, under the same seal, pronounced by Godfrey, official of the
Archdeacon of London, commissary of the prior of St. Bartholomew, and
of the dean of London, the judges delegated by the Pope—their fellow
judge, the Archdeacon of Colchester, being duly excused—in the suit
between Master Geoffrey de Feringes, precentor of Chichester, and the
prior and convent of Lewes, touching the tithes of Ovinges, which, both
lesser and greater, except a moiety of the wool and lambs arising from a
hide of land in the said parish held by William de Ovinges and Mary his
mother, were taken by the said prior and convent, to the grave hurt, as
the said Geoffrey alledged, of himself and the church of Ovinges and
against common right (jus commune); by which sentence, having regard
to their long and peaceful possession of the said tithes, the said prior and
convent are absolved from Geoffrey's impeachment, and perpetual silence
is imposed on him and his successors touching the same. Endorsed:
