Footnotes

  • 1. On the back of the volume is the usual modern lettering: Paul. II.Offic. Inside it are two sheepskin leaves belonging to the original binding, but the contemporary description of the contents is given at the top of f. 1 of the text, viz. Paulus Papa ii. Tabula Officiorum S. R. Ecclesie per alphabetum. The volume contains, in fact, an alphabetical list of the names of the various offices in Rome and the Papal States and their holders, the dates of their appointment, etc., during the pontificate of Paul II, 1464–1471, the first item being ‘Asculi potestas’ (podestà). The description which may have been on the bottom edge of the volume has been cut away by the binder. There are 1–226 ff. in the volume, but they naturally contain nothing concerning the present Calendar.
