To the prior of Dungemyn in the diocese of Derry (Deren.), and Patrick Omeargayd and David Omolmochairy, canons of Derry (Daren. recte Deren.). Mandate to collate and assign to Odo Otehegron, perpetual vicar of the parish church of Rathlubraich in the diocese of Derry (Deren.) (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he obtained the said vicarage) the rectory of the same church, with cure and value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, void by the death of Patrick Ocayelti, summoning and removing Donatus Ocayelti, archdeacon of Connor, who has unduly detained possession for more than a year but less than two years without any canonical title; notwithstanding that he holds the said vicarage, value [likewise] not exceeding 5 marks sterling. Odo, who alleges that the rectory and vicarage have not sufficient rents for the maintenance of a rector and vicar in food and dress and for the fabric, etc., is hereby dispensed to receive the rectory, and to retain it and the vicarage together for life, notwithstanding the said defect etc. Vite etc. (A. and G. To the abbot of the monastery of SS. John and Peter, Clonarde, in the diocese of Meath. Mandate (the pope having been informed by James Nygent (i.e. Niigent, i.e. Nugent), priest, of the diocese of Meath, that Thomas Ocalayth, rector of the parish church of Rylluailleach (recte Kylluailleach) in the said diocese, has dilapidated etc. and uselessly consumed the goods of the rectory, openly kept a concubine and committed simony, and is greatly defamed in those parts of these and divers other crimes) if and after James (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of unmarried parents, to be promoted to all even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, and who thereafter had himself so promoted) accuses Thomas before the above abbot, to summon Thomas and others concerned, and if he find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove Thomas, and in that event to collate and assign the said rectory, with cure and value not exceeding 30 marks sterling, to James. To the abbot of St. Michael's, Mayo (de Magio), in the diocese of Tuam, and Eugenius Occundubain and John Oculcain (recte Oculeain), canons of Tuam. Mandate (the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Killacamot in the diocese of Tuam alias Mayo being void because the late John Odublerda, priest, when holding it, obtained the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Corran in the same diocese, collated to him by authority of the ordinary; and the said vicarage of Corran being itself also void and reserved to the pope by ‘Execrabilis,’ because the said John, after having obtained it, detained it for more than a month together with the said vicarage of Killacamot, without having obtained dispensation in the matter, although Richard Odermady, priest, of the said diocese, under pretext of a collation and provision made to him by papal authority of the said vicarage of Killacamor (sic), as being void by the subsequent death of the said John in the Roman court, as he alleged, has unduly detained possession for more than a year but less than two years) to collate and assign the said vicarages, which are not distant from one another more than two Italian miles, and can be conveniently served by one man, their value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, to Dermit Macconri, priest, of the said diocese, summoning and removing the said Richard; whether they be void as above, or by the death of the said John, or because the said Richard, being in peaceable possession of the said vicarage of Killacamot, took and converted to his own uses for some time, without any dispensation in the matter, the fruits of that of Corran, or whether they be void by the resignation of the said John or Richard or other, or be void in any other way. Mandate to collate and assign to Donald Onuallan (or Omiallan), clerk, of the diocese of Leighlin, who lately, notwithstanding his illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, related in the fourth degree of kindred, had himself made a clerk, the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Baland in the said diocese, value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, void at the apostolic see by the death there of Patrick Onu[a]llayn, and therefore reserved to the pope. The pope hereby dispenses him to be promoted to all even holy orders and receive and retain the vicarage, and to resign it, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, notwithstanding the said defect etc. Dignum arbitramur. To the dean of Clonfert, and William (Williatio) Ocoreran (recte Ocorcran) and Donatus Omulalaich, canons of the same. Mandate—the pope having been informed by Thady Ohannrachan, a canon of the Augustinian monastery of Lorrha (fontis vivi de Lochia [recte Lochra]) in the diocese of Killaloe (Laonien.), that Malachy Ohurayn, perpetual vicar of the parish church of Lochrach in the diocese of Clonfert, has become a paralytic, so that he cannot without standing and danger administer the sacraments to the parishioners, (fn. 3) and has committed simony and dilapidated the goods of the vicarage, to the pernicious example of the said parishioners, who therefore absent themselves from the said church and go to other churches or monasteries in order to receive the said sacraments and hear divine offices— if and after Thady accuses Malachy before the above three, to summon Malachy and others concerned, and if they find all the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove Malachy, and in that event to collate and assign the vicarage, which is wont to be held by canons of the Augustinian monastery of St. Mary de Portu puro, Clonfert, and whose value does not exceed 8 marks sterling, to Thady, who is to be transferred from his said monastery of Lorrha (Fontis vivi) to the monastery de Portu puro, as soon as he has got possession of the vicarage. Mandate to collate and assign to Donatus Ohedorstroil (sic), clerk, of the diocese of Ross (Rossen.) (who is studying in canon law at Bologna, is illegitimate, being the son of unmarried parents related in the fourth degree, and who was ordered by papal authority to be dispensed on account of the said defect, (fn. 4) although such dispensation was not confirmed by the ordinary) the parcel or rectory of Gornagloti alias Crayuieach in the said diocese, of the patronage of laymen, without cure and value not exceeding 2 marks sterling, so long void by the death of Charles Offuthyl, paraller or rector thereof, that its collation has by the Lateran statutes lapsed to the apostolic see. To the bishop of Annaghdown, the abbot of St. Mary's de Portu patrum, Annaghdown, and the dean of Annaghdown. Mandate, as below. The perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Fuoranmor in the diocese of Annaghdown, of the patronage of laymen, became void because John Macgillanemach, when holding the rectory of the parish church of Ardrahin in the diocese of Kilmacduagh (Duacen.), obtained it, canonically collated to him by authority of the ordinary, on its voidance by the resignation of Maurice Ymulbrenaynd to the late John bishop of Annaghdown, and detained it and the said rectory of Aldrahin (sic) together for more than a month without papal dispensation, against ‘Execrabilis,' wherefore it became reserved to the pope, although a certain David Vallensis, having obtained it by collation by authority of the ordinary, has detained it for more than a year without any other tittle of right, and still detains it. The pope therefore orders the above three to collate and assign it, value not exceeding 4 marks sterling, provided that the said patrons consent, to Thomas Obraeyn, clerk, of the diocese of Tuam, who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure; summoning and removing the said David. To the abbot of St. Mary's, Clogher, the prior of St. Mary's, Damynys, in the diocese of Clogher, and John Magugyr, a canon of Clogher. Mandate (the pope having been informed by Charles Macgillacosgli, clerk, of the diocese of Clogher, that Cristinus Osigich, perpetual vicar of the parish church of Dayrebrosga in the said diocese, has dilapidated etc. and uselessly consumed the goods of the vicarage, openly kept a concubine and committed simony, about which things he is greatly defamed in those parts) if and after Charles (who lately, notwithstanding his illegitimacy as the son of unmarried parents, had himself made a clerk and was afterwards dispensed by papal authority to be promoted to all even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure) accuses Cristinus before the above three, to summon Cristinus and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, or one of them enough for the purpose, to deprive and remove Cristinus, and in that event to collate and assign the vicarage, with cure and value not exceeding 3 marks sterling, to Charles; notwithstanding that the pope recently ordered provision to be made to him of the rectory of the said church, value not exceeding 6 marks sterling. Charles, who alleges that the rector and vicar of the said church cannot, on account of the slenderness of the fruits of the rectory and vicarage, have a fitting income for food and clothing and for the fabric of the church, is hereby dispensed to receive the vicarage and to detain it and the rectory, if he obtain it, together for life, notwithstanding the said defect etc. Vite etc. (P. and G. To the abbot of Macosquin (de Claro fonte) in the diocese of Derry (Deren.). Mandate as below. The pope has been informed by John Maccolgan, priest, of the diocese of Derry, that David Omuylmochaera, [now] perpetual vicar of the parish church of Magbili in the said diocese, (fn. 5) in order that he might obtain it, committed simony with Henry Maccolgan, priest, of the said diocese, then behaving as vicar of the said parish church, (fn. 6) by paying him about 5 marks sterling, to the shame of the priestly order. The collation and provision made to David of the said vicarage (fn. 7) and their consequences being therefore without force, the pope hereby orders the above abbot, if John (who is a priest, and was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure) accuses David before the abbot, to summon David and others concerned, and if he find the foregoing to be true, to declare the said collation and provision to have been without force, and remove David, and in that event to collate and assign the vicarage, value not exceeding 16 marks sterling, to John. (who was lately dispensed by papal authority, on account of illegitimacy as the son of unmarried parents, to be promoted to all even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, after which he had himself so promoted), provided that the patrons consent, the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Athluayn in the said diocese, of the patronage of laymen and value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, the commenda of which, lately made by papal authority to John bishop of Clonmacnoise, has been resigned by that bishop in those parts before witnesses, there being a want there of notaries public (fn. 8); admitting for this turn only the said resignation.Vite etc. (P. and G.
