To the abbot of St. Michael's, Mayo (de Magio), in the diocese of Tuam, and David Omolomira and Thady Obraehyn, canons of Tuam. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Milerus Bremechiam, clerk, of the diocese of Tuam, that Thady Ohanly, priest, of the same diocese, on the voidance by the death at the apostolic see of Raymund Bremicherm [sic] of the rectory of Dunmor in the said diocese, of lay patronage, made with the patron a simoniacal agreement that he should present Thady, and that the latter should pay him a sum of money, which Thady afterwards paid and was instituted, and in virtue thereof obtained possession of the said rectory; that Thady is a notorious fornicator, and consumes the goods of the rectory for unlawful uses, and is greatly defamed in those parts about the foregoing. The pope therefore hereby orders the above abbot and canons, if Milerus (who was lately dispensed by authority of the ordinary on account of illegitimacy, as the son of unmarried parents, to be made a clerk, after which he was made a clerk, and who alleges that the said patron has made several similar simoniacal agreements) will accuse Thady before the said three, to summon him and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to declare the said presentation and institution null and invalid, and in that event to collate and assign the said rectory, with cure and value not exceeding 24 marks sterling, to Milerus. To the prior of Ynyscronayn in the diocese of Killaloe (Laonien.), and Donatus Ograda and Dermit (Denitio, recte Dermitio) Odeagh, canons of Killaloe. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Cornelius Omullony, clerk, of the diocese of Killaloe, that Gyllacius and Donatus Macrayth, perpetual vicars of the parish churches of Cloynarthay alias Sradbaly and Aglas Yduynnyn alias Ryllienagarab (? recte Kyllienagarab), respectively, in the said diocese, are respectively a perjuror and an open and notorious fornicator, that they have both dilapidated and alienated the goods of the said vicarages and converted them to unlawful uses, and that Gyllacius has committed simony, to the shame of the clerical order. The pope therefore hereby orders the above prior and canons, if Cornelius, who has studied and proposes to study canon law, will accuse Gyllacius and Donatus before the said three, to summon them and others concerned, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove them, and in that event to collate and assign the said vicarages, value not exceeding 4 and 3 marks sterling, respectively, to Cornelius. He is hereby specially dispensed (in order that he may more conveniently continue the said study) to receive and [retain] for life the said vicarages, which so immediately join one another that they can be conveniently served by one man, and the fruits etc. of which are not worth 24 gold florins of the Camera. To the dean of Cloyne (Clonen.). Mandate to collate and assign to John Sawache, clerk, of the diocese of Cloyne (who was lately dispensed by papal authority on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice with cure), the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Karygthuatal in the said diocese, of lay patronage and value not exceeding 8 marks sterling, so long void by the death, more than two days’ journey from the Roman court, of John Terry, when on his way thither, that by the Lateran statutes its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see. Mandate to collate and assign to Milerus Walsh (Myllerus Valentis), clerk, of the diocese of Tuam alias Mayo, the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Cyllacamog (fn. 2) in the said diocese, value not exceeding 4 marks sterling, void because Richard Odermadayd, priest, of the said diocese, when holding it, intruded himself by his own temerity into the perpetual vicarage of the parish church of Corran in the same diocese, and has detained it and the said vicarage of Syllacamog for more than a month against ‘Execrabilis,’ without canonical dispensation and without any right. Mandate to collate and assign to Odo Ohallinearyn (fn. 3), clerk, of the diocese of Tuam, who is illegitimate, being the son of a clerk and an unmarried woman, the rectory of Mayrinlind alias Gnogakcag in the said diocese, of lay patronage and value not exceeding 12 marks sterling, so long void, because Maurice Oflaichlartaig, having obtained collation of it, held possession for more than a year without having himself ordained priest, that by the Lateran statutes its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see.
