Footnotes

  • 1. There was, therefore, a Liber Primus Officiorum.
  • 2. i.e. the first day of the pope's reign.
  • 3. Not clear here, hence the compiler of the rubricelle or brief list of contents at the beginning of the volume has not unnaturally read ‘Roich’; but it is distinct in his oath of fealty, mentioned below.
  • 4. monasterij beate de Cambuskynneth. The dedication to beata Maria is complete in his oath of fealty, mentioned below.
  • 5. In the oath, which is given in full, the above Alexander Ruch is made to describe himself as being only a canon of the above monastery.
  • 6. The summary in the rubricelle or brief list of contents at the beginning of the volume is therefore not very adequate, viz.: Collector. Magister Prosper constituitur collector in reguis Anglie Scotie et Hibernie partibus. Folio clx.
  • 7. i.e. a protonotary.
  • 8. Here also with the spelling ‘Menypeny.’
  • 9. i.e. a protonotary.
  • 10. Without the oath of fealty clauses.
