Mandate to collate and assign to Thomas Ogicakan, priest, of the diocese of Lismore, a canonry of Cashel and the prebend of Mallachimona therein, value 12 marks of silver, so long void that their collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although Adam Ohyffyrnay, priest, who is to be summoned and removed, has without any title detained possession for about four years since the said lapse, from fear of whose power the said Thomas cannot safely meet him in the city or diocese of Cashel. To the abbot of St. Marys, Abbeygormacan (de Vianova), and the prior of St. Mary's, Cluayntuasgirt, in the diocese of Clonfert, and the archdeacon of Clonfert. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by William Okellyd, clerk, of the diocese of Clonfert, that Thady Ocluayn, a canon of Clonfert, a public and manifest usurer, has laid violent hands on a clerk, and, being under sentence of excommunication therefore, has taken part in divine offices, in contempt of the Keys, thereby contracting irregularity. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above three, if William will accuse Thady before them, to summon the latter, and if they find the foregoing to be true, to deprive him of his canonry of Clonfert and the prebend of Barleanabolloyit therein, and remove him, and in that event to collate and assign them, value, with their annexes, not exceeding 6 marks sterling, to the said William. Mandate to collate and assign to George Lychton, priest, of the diocese of Moray (who is M.A., and was lately dispensed on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and an unmarried woman, by authority of the ordinary to be promoted to minor orders and hold a benefice without cure, and afterwards by papal authority to be promoted to all, even holy, even priest's orders and hold a benefice even with cure, and who in virtue thereof has had himself so promoted, and has by canonical collation obtained a chaplaincy at the altar of St. Mary the Virgin in the church of Moray, value 4 marks sterling), a canonry of Moray and the prebend called St. Giles centum solidorum, value, with their annexes, not exceeding 12 marks sterling, void by the death extra R.c. of Malesius de Ellem, although Andrew Mercel, priest, who is to be summoned and removed, has without any canonical title detained possession for between about eight and nine months. The pope hereby specially dispenses him to receive and retain the said canonry and prebend, notwithstanding the said defect, etc., but as soon as he obtains possession of them he is to resign the said chaplaincy. Mandate to receive the resignation which Thomas Oscheanachayn alias Oscheolayn, a canon of Cloyne (Clonen.), proposes to make of the canonry and prebend of Kylkeydayn and Ymbrych in the said church, and to collate and assign them, value 6 marks sterling, to Thomas Oronan, treasurer of Lismore, bachelor in decrees, to whom the pope has this day made provision of the deanery of Limerick, a major elective dignity with cure, value 60 marks sterling. To the bishop of Limerick. Mandate, as below. The pope lately ordered certain judges to cause Leonard Roche, a canon of Cloyne (Clonen.), to be received as a canon in the monastery of Maylanfay, O.S.A., in the diocese of Lismore, give him the regular habit, and receive his profession. His canonry and prebend of Cloyne, to which are annexed the perpetual vicarage of Bregog and that [of] Kyllmychleynein, in the said diocese, being therefore about to become void, the pope hereby orders the above bishop to reserve to the pope's gift, for collation to Richard Oronan, clerk, of the diocese of Limerick (who, notwithstanding his illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and a married woman, has been made a clerk), the said canonry and prebend, value, with the said annexes, not exceeding 6 marks sterling, and, on their becoming void on account of the foregoing, or in any other way, except by the death of the said Leonard, to collate and assign them to him, even if they be already void by the death of Donald Ykeraroyll, etc. He is hereby specially dispensed to receive and retain them, and any benefices with or without cure compatible therewith and with one another, and to resign all, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleases, notwithstanding the said defect, etc. Dignum etc. (At the end: A. xl. Mandate to collate and assign to Thomas Ohelay, clerk, of the diocese of Cloyne (who was lately dispensed by papal authority on account of illegitimacy, as the son of unmarried parents, to be made a clerk and be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice [even with cure], even if a dignity, etc. with cure, after which he obtained the precentorship of Cork, a non-major dignity, subsequently resigning it) a canonry of Cloyne and the prebend of Donahmor therein, with its annexed chapel de Martiris, value 24 marks sterling, so long void that its collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although Maurice Ohelay, clerk, has detained the said canonry and prebend for between fifteen and twenty years, and although Donald, son of Eugenius (Donaldus Eugenii) Yhieralay, clerk, has without any title detained the said annex for between four and five years under pretext of a presumed de facto dissolution by John, archbishop of Cashel; the said Maurice and Donald being summoned and removed. Mandate to collate and assign to Maurice Oronan, priest, of the diocese of Lismore (who was lately displeased by papal authority on account of illegitimacy, as the son of a priest and a married woman, (i) to be promoted to all, even holy orders and hold a benefice even with cure, (ii) to hold together for life the perpetual vicarage of Tibrud in the said diocese and the deanery (fn. 5) of Lismore, provision of which had been made to him by authority of the ordinary and by papal authority, respectively, and afterwards, upon his resigning the said vicarage, to hold for life it and the perpetual vicarage de Alba Capella de Ballyorun in the same diocese, of which vicarages provision was by papal letters ordered to be made to him, (fn. 6) or, without them, any [two] other benefices with cure or otherwise incompatible, even if parish churches or perpetual vicarages, and also any benefices with or without cure, of any number and kind, compatible with one another and with the foregoing, even if canonries and prebends, dignities, etc., and to resign all, simply or for exchange, as often as he pleased), a canonry of Lismore and the prebend of Dissert therein, value 6 marks sterling, so long void that their collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although Patrick Grer (?), (fn. 7) priest, has without any title detained possession for about four years since the said lapse; the said Patrick being summoned and removed. To the provost of Killala (Aladen.). Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Riscerdus Valentii, priest, of the diocese of Tuam, that Edmund, abbot of Holy Trinity, Ballintober (Ville fontis sancti Patricii), O.S.A., in the said diocese, is so ignorant of letters and so insufficient that he can direct and rule neither himself nor the canons of the said monastery, etc., and that he has given moveable goods of the monastery to a certain woman whom he has kept as his concubine, and has uselessly consumed the same. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above provost, if Riscerdus (who from fear of Edmund cannot safely meet him in the city of Tuam, in the said diocese) (fn. 9) will accuse Edmund before him, to summon the latter, and if he find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to receive Riscerdus as a canon of the said monastery, give him the regular habit, and receive his profession, and thereupon make provision to him of the said monastery, value 30 marks sterling; whether it be then void by the said deprivation, or be still void by the death of Thomas Yronan extra R.c., or in any other way. He is to grant that Riscerdus may be blessed by any catholic bishop in communion with the apostolic see; without prejudice to the archbishop of Tuam. Suscepti cura regiminis. [3¼ pp.]

To the dean of Tuam. Mandate, as below. The pope has been informed by Malachy Okellyd, clerk, of the diocese of Tuam, that William de Burgo, abbot of St. Mary's, Knockmoy (Collis Victorie), O. Cist., in the said diocese, does not reside there, nor exercise its cure, etc., in person, and that he has dissipated and dilapidated its goods, and converted them to unlawful uses. The pope, therefore, hereby orders the above dean, if Malachy (who, notwithstanding his illegitimacy, as the son of a clerk and an unmarried woman, has been made a clerk) will accuse William before him, to summon the latter, and if he find the foregoing to be true, to deprive and remove him, and in that event to receive Malachy as a monk of the said monastery, give him the regular habit, and receive his profession, and thereupon make provision to him of the said monastery, value 50 marks sterling. The pope hereby specially dispenses him on account of the said defect, and grants that he may be blessed by any catholic bishop in communion with the apostolic see. (fn. 10)Solicite considerationis.
