To the prior of the monastery of St. John Baptist [no place] wont to be governed by a prior, in the diocese of Killaloe (Laonien.), and the chancellor of Killaloe. Mandate, as below. The pope exemplifies (fn. 8) the letters Cum in omnibus judiciis of Paul II, dated at St. Peter's, Rome, 1465, Id. May anno 1, (fn. 9) and at the recent petition of Matthew Imllachnayd’, clerk, of the diocese of Killaloe (containing that Patrick Omitria, warden (custos) of the monastery of St. Mary de Yhondonayn, wont to be governed by a warden, O.S.A., in the said diocese, considering that the said monastery received little profit from the yearly fruits etc. of the vicarage of the parish church of All Saints [no place], in the said diocese, which is canonically united to it, has, with consent of the convent, granted the said fruits to the said Matthew for life, for renewable periods of five years, with the burden of placing a wax candle on the high altar of the said church at each renewal, under a yearly payment of nine ounces of the money of that country to the warden and convent), orders the above two to summon the said warden and convent, and others concerned, and if they find the said grant to be to the manifest profit of the said monastery, in accordance with the said letters of Paul II, to approve and confirm the same. To the prior of the priory of Kells (de Kelbyis [sic]) in the diocese of Ossory, and the official of Ossory. Mandate, as below. After the issue of Paul II's letters ‘Ad perp. rei mem. Cum in omnibus judiciis etc.’, (fn. 12) as the recent petition of Thomas Pourcel, priest, of Cloyne, contained, John abbot of St. Thomas the Martyr's and the then prior of All Saints’ and the abbess of Grayn, without the walls of Dublin, O.S.A. (fn. 13) (considering that by reason of distance and the delay and negligence of the lessees in the payment of the yearly farms or pensions, the said monasteries of St. Thomas, All Saints and Grayn received no profit from the yearly fruits etc. of the rectories of their respective united and incorporated parish churches, etc., viz., in the case of the said monastery of St. Thomas the chapel of Baellekyfy and the parish churches of Martir and Garriboy and Ballynachory Insynabaky, and the parcel of Rosmor and Tyllychambrog and Dunmor and Kylmokarry, in the case of the said monastery of All Saints the parish church of Rathbarre, and in the case of the said monastery of Grayn the parish churches of Rathgogan and Ballythankarth, in the dioceses of Cloyne, Ossory and Limerick, respectively), leased and granted, with consent of the respective convents, the fruits etc. of their respective rectories etc. to the said Thomas, namely, the said abbot of St. Thomas's for sixty years under a farm or yearly pension of four marks of the money current in those parts, the said prior of All Saints’ for life under a farm etc. of one mark, and the said prioress for life under a farm etc. of a mark and a half, payable yearly to the said abbot prior and abbess and the convents of the said monasteries, respectively, on condition that he should bring back the said fruits etc. to the use and profit of the said respective monasteries, as is contained [more] fully in certain letters bearing the seals of the respective convents. (fn. 14) At the said petition, therefore, the pope himself orders the above two to summon the said abbot, prior and abbess, and the said convents, and others concerned, and if they find the said lease and grant to be to the manifest profit of the said monasteries, to approve and confirm the same. The pope wills, however, that after the said sixty years and after the death of the said Thomas, the said fruits etc. shall revert to the respective monastery. Ex iniuncto nobis. [2 pp.—] |

The petition of the prior and convent of the Trinitarian (fn. 16) priory of Eston in the diocese of Salisbury contained that the late bishop William appropriated thereto in perpetuity the parish church of Stapulford in the said diocese, of lay patronage, with consent of the chapter of Salisbury and the patrons, and that in virtue thereof they took possession and have held it for more than twenty years. The said petition adding that some doubt whether the said union holds good, the pope hereby confirms the union of the said church, value 12 marks of silver sterling. Ad perp. rei mem.
