To William Okeruallan, Tancretus Ohygell, (fn. 2) and Patrick Okianan, canons of Derry (Daren, recte Deren.). Mandate, as below. The pope has learned that the rectories of the parish churches of Iniscail and Inbernacill (cancelled, and immediately followed by) Inderbernacill [sic], in the diocese of Raphoe, and the perpetual vicarage of the same church of Inbernaculle, which are of lay patronage, have been so long void that by the Lateran statutes their collation has lapsed to the apostolic see, although Cornelius Flavus Magrayt, priest, Patrick Magillage alias Ogallcubayr, priest, and Donatus Ogeymrigayn, priest, have for several years detained the said rectories of I[ni]scayl and Inbernaculle and the said vicarage, respectively, without any title or right. And the recent petition of Nicholas Ohangusa, clerk, of the said diocese, contained that if a canonry were erected in the said church of Raphoe and a simplex prebend from the said rectory of the church of In[i]scayl for the lifetime only of the said Nicholas, and if to them, thus erected, were united the said rectory and vicarage of the church of Inbernaculle, likewise for his lifetime, divine worship in the said church of Raphoe would be improved, and he would be better able to maintain himself, and bear the burdens incumbent on him by reason of the said canonry and prebend. The pope, therefore, at the said petition of the said Nicholas, who alleges that the yearly value of the said rectory and vicarage of the church of Inbernaculle does not exceed 8 marks sterling, hereby orders the above three (seeing that, as the said Nicholas also alleges, there are no ecclesiastical persons in the city and diocese of Raphoe, outside the said church of Raphoe, to whom such causes can be lawfully (de jure) committed), if they find the foregoing to be true, and the said rectories and vicarage to be void in any ways, even if they be specially reserved to the pope's gift, etc., after summoning the said Cornelius, Patrick, and Donatus, to erect in the church of Raphone a canonry, and out of the said rectory of the church of In[i]scayl a simplex prebend, and to unite to them, after they have been erected, the said rectory and vicarage of the church of Inbernaculle for as long as the said Nicholas, rector, shall hold the said canonry and prebend, and, in the event of their so doing, to collate and assign to him the said canonry and prebend, yearly value not exceeding 5 marks sterling, the said Cornelius, Patrick, and Donatus being removed, etc. Ex iniuncto nobis.
