Mandate, at the request of Francis, cardinal of St. Mary's in Cosmedin, to cite John called ‘Busche,’ notary, of London, to answer before the pope, and give such satisfaction as may be ordered fit, the injuries he has done to Francis, son of Peter Gaytano, count of Caserta, canon of York, the danger and difficulty of litigation in those parts being great.
18 Kal. Feb. Lyons. (f. 33.)	To Gilbert de Roubury, canon of Aukland (Albalanda), in the diocese of Dublin (sic), who is the king's clerk, and of the earl of Lincoln's household. To John de Boxtede, chancellor of the exchequer to king Edward, who formerly held the churches of Spofforde, Worefelde, Monckethone, Codinthon, Sandale, Carton, Galbi, and Stretham, the deanery of Tettenhale and canonries and prebends of Salisbury, Lichfield, Ripon, Derlinton, and Aucland, in the dioceses of York, Coventry and Lichfield, Canterbury, Winchester, Lincoln, Ely, and Durham, without dispensation, and without taking priest's orders. 1305. 15 Kal. Jan. Lyon. (f. 81.)	To John de Gedele, the queen's treasurer, dean of Wells, who, on resigning the churches of Boklonde, Hereforde, Foxhirde, Lavapiter, Horsinton, Stokes, in the dioceses of Bath and Wells, London, Exeter, Norwich, and Lincoln, retaining that of Holdesworth, and resigning the archdeaconry of Lewes, obtained the church of Ailington, in the diocese of Lincoln, and, on resigning Holdesworth, obtained the deanery of Wells without apostolic dispensation and not being in holy orders. Licence to hold the deanery and Ailington, as well as canonries and prebends of Exeter and Chichester, and the chaplaincy of the Castle of Hastings, in the diocese of Chichester; with remission to him of fruits received.
1306. 6 Id. Feb. Lyons. (f. 81d.)	To William, archbishop of York. Confirmation of his election on the voidance of that see by the death of Thomas. The dean and chapter appointed Master Peter de Ros precentor John de Berewic and John de Cadomo canons, to conduct the election, the result of which was declared by Robert de Pikering, canon; and it having been examined by three cardinals, is, at the petition of William, made personally to the pope, confirmed; and he is consecrated by Peter, bishop of Sabina.

	The pallium is ordered to be given to the archbishop by three cardinals.
Kal. Feb. Lyons. (f. 82.)	To Ralph, bishop of London. Ratification of his election, on the voidance of that see by the death of Richard. The dean and chapter, having made the election, it was confirmed by the archbishop, but Peter de Dene, canon of London, appealed to the pope, on the ground that he had been allowed no part in it; whereupon Benedict XI. ordered the matter to be examined, and on the examination being continued under the present pope, Peter refused to go on with the appeal; the election is therefore ratified, and the bishop elect is ordered to be consecrated by P. bishop of Sabina.

1306. 8 Kal. Feb. Lyons. (f. 101.)	To John, son of Richard, earl of Arundel, canon of Lichfield. Indult to hold two benefices, together with the prebend of Lichfield, reserved to him by papal authority, he being fifteen years of age, and having only the first tonsure.
1305. 3 Non. Dec. Lyons. (f. 103d.)	To Adam de Blida, one of the king's clerks, who has held the rectories of Herculle, of Coffcastel, and of Scheperton, and a canonry and prebend in the chapel of the castle of St. Mary, Hastings, in the dioceses of Salisbury, York, London, and Chichester. Dispensation, at the king's request, to retain the same, except Coffcastel, which he has resigned, and also one additional benefice.
1306. 11 Kal. Feb. Lyons. (f. 103d.)	To Forcard, sometime dean, now bishop, of Caithness. Confirmation of his election. On the voidance of the see by the death of Andrew, the chapter appointed William Henry, abbot of Scone, and David de Rach, canons, to make the election; whereupon the dean came to the apostolic see, and the election was examined by three cardinals. The bishop elect is to be consecrated by P. bishop of Sabina.

Mandate, at the request of Henry, earl of Lincoln, to induct Edmund Johannis de Acon, scholar of London, as soon as he is ordained, into possession of a canonry and prebend of South Mallyng, in the diocese of Chichester.
18 Kal. Feb. Lyons. (f. 106d.)	To John de Sandale, one of the king's clerks, chancellor of St. Patrick's, Dublin. He has held the churches of Castle Rising and Wimbusch, in the dioceses of Norwich and London, and the treasurership of St. Patrick's, Dublin, and on resigning these accepted the said chancellorship and the churches of Lokinton, Aston, and Stoke, with their chapels. Dispensation, at the king's request, to retain the same and to be non-resident while engaged in the king's service, and for seven years to remain without being ordained priest.

He has held the church of Valisham, in the diocese of Norwich, and on resigning it those of Westleton, Wridlington, and Bathanes, in the dioceses of Norwich and St. Andrews. Dispensation to retain the same, together with the said canonry and prebend, on condition of his being ordained priest within a year.
1306. Kal. Jan. Lyons. (f. 120.)	To Nicholas de Ayllesburie. He having been dispensed on account of illegitimacy, held the church of Manton, in the diocese of Lincoln, and on resigning it accepted that of St. Ylegan in Cosimbra, in the diocese of Exeter, and on resigning this that of St. Chad, Paterigam, in the diocese of Coventry and Lichfield. Dispensation to retain the same.
2 Id. Jan. Lyons. (f. 120.)	To Robert de Hartwedone. He, by licence of John, late bishop of Winchester, received the rectory of Thingdone, in the diocese of Lincoln, and then, without dispensation, those of Stokebrueri, in the same diocese, of Wotton, in the diocese of Salisbury, and, on resigning the last two, that of Eligden, in the same diocese, which he resigned, and accepted that of Dinton. Dispensation, at the request of Hugh Ledespenser, whose clerk he is, to retain Dinton and Thingdon, together with the hospital Domus Dei at Portsmouth, and to hold also an additional benefice.
1305. 4 Kal. Dec. Lyons. (f. 120.)	To James Sinibaldi, who, without a papal dispensation, obtained the archdeaconry of Winchester and a prebendal portion of St. Laurence, Romsey, with its chapels. Dispensation to retain the same; and the process touching these, begun by the metropolitan or bishop after James had set out for the apostolic see is annulled; and licence is given him to hold also one or more additional benefices, to the value of 100 marks.
1306. Kal. Feb. Lyons. (f. 120d.)	To Matthew, who, being in minor orders, and the son of a subdeacon, got a papal dispensation, and thereupon, exceeding its terms, obtained the deanery of Dunkeld and held it for seven months. Dispensation to retain the same; and licence to hold an additional benefice.
5 Kal. Feb. Lyons. (f. 120d.)	To Michael de Estona, who, being illegitimate, got a papal dispensation to be ordained and hold a benefice, and thereupon obtained the church of Odestoke, which he resigned, and then that of Erchesfonte, in the diocese of Salisbury. He, being not ordained, and illegitimate, obtained the church of Causton, in the diocese of Norwich, and on resigning it, that of Corundale, in the diocese of Winchester, and on resigning this, those of Roubury, Ringwode, and Westburgge, in the dioceses of Durham, Winchester, and Norwich, and on resigning Westburg, that of Althrop, in the diocese of Lincoln, and canonries and prebends of Wells, London, Dublin, Lichfield, Exeter, and Castleknock, Dublin; and finally, at the king's and queen's request, obtained a dispensation from Honorius IV. in which no mention was made of the above benefices; after which he accepted the deanery of Pontefract Castle and St. Leonard's hospital, York; also canonries and prebends in Salisbury, York, and Lincoln, resigning the church of Altrop, the said hospital, and the canonries and prebends of York and Exeter, and obtaining a dispensation from Boniface VIII. to hold Rothbury and Ringwode, the deanery, and the other canonries and prebends, not being ordained priest, nor being resident; whereupon he was summoned by the archbishop of Canterbury as visitor, and on pleading the papal dispensations, was ordered to produce them, on which he came to Rome and obtained a prorogation of the process from Benedict XI. who confirmed his privileges and quashed the proceedings against him; whereupon he petitioned the present pope to grant the necessary dispensation and remission, which is now done.

Dispensation, at the request of his aunt, Margaret de Clara, countess of Cornwall, to retain the said benefices and accept others to the value of 200l. with licence to postpone being ordained priest for seven years, he being engaged in his studies.
