Reservation of the perpetual vicarage of Abernethi; according to a faculty given to James, late bishop of St. Andrews, whose domestic chaplain he was, to grant him a dispensation to hold the same. The bishop died before the faculty reached him, but had given John the rectory of Kynelle, of which he has not yet taken possession. He is dispensed so as to hold both these benefices, and also a canonry and prebend of Dunkeld, and a canonry of Glasgow, with expectation of a prebend.

4 Kal. Aug. Avignon. (f. 374d.)	To William de Tykehill. Being dispensed on account of illegitimacy, and holding the church of Esthatoeley (East Hatley), in the diocese of Ely, he resigned it, and accepted that of Ouyngeham, in the diocese of Durham; being ejected from this by the secular power he obtained a moiety of Elnesthewe (Elstow), in the diocese of Lincoln, which he is to resign. Rehabilitation being granted at the request of the king, whose clerk he is, he may then obtain a benefice.
6 Id. Aug. Avignon. (f. 378d.)	To the bishop of Winchester. Mandate, at the king's request, to appropriate to the scholars’ house of Stapeldenhall, in the university of Oxford (they studying dialectics), the church of West Wittenham, which Walter, late bishop of Exeter, purposed to give them, and to that end acquired the patronage of it. A vicar's portion is reserved.
9 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 382d.)	To William de Tikhill, priest, of the diocese of York. Rehabilitation, at the request of the king, whose clerk he is, as above, remitting to him the fruits received from Elnestowe, of which he is to give one year's value to that church.
14 Kal. July. Avignon. (f. 383d.)	To the bishop of Worcester. Mandate, at the king's request, to appropriate to the abbot and convent of Westminster the church of Langdon, in his diocese; he having refused to do so unless the abbot submitted to him the jurisdiction over the priory of Malvern, belonging and subject to the said abbot. Much money has been spent on rebuilding the monastery partly destroyed by the fire in the adjoining royal palace.

Mandate, at the king's request, to appropriate to the abbot and convent of Westminster the churches of Sawbridgeworth and Kelleverdon of their patronage; he having neglected to carry out a former papal order, his chapter and the archdeacons of Colchester and Middlesex opposing the appropriation. If this be not done, the bishop is to give his reasons to the pope for not doing it.
17 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 384d.)	To John, bishop elect of Cloyne. Faculty to contract a loan of 500 florins to meet expenses incurred in expediting the business of his church at the apostolic see.
Id. April. Avignon. (f. 395.)	To William de Colby, the queen's chancellor and treasurer. Confirmation, at the king's and queen's request, of the provision made to him of a canonry of York, with reservation of a prebend, which has been amplified so as to include any dignity in that church short of the archiepiscopal, and by virtue of which he has obtained the deanery, although it was reserved to the pope.
Id. May. Avignon. (f. 395.)	To the bishop of Coventry. Mandate touching John de Grey, knight, and his wife Eleanor, relict of Hugh le Despencer, the younger, knight. William la Zouche Mortimer, lord of Assheby la Zouche, seized and ravished the said Eleanor, and detains her. John prayed the bishop of Lincoln to do justice in the matter, but he, giving no reason, declined to do so; whereupon the official of Canterbury, at John's request, ordered him to do justice, and, on the bishop still declining, summoned William, who, together with Eleanor declared themselves man and wife, and said that John had falsely asserted that he had previously married. Eleanor. On the cause being brought before the pope, on appeal from the official of Worcester, who had decided in favour of John, and papal letters having been obtained to other judges, John was summoned before the prior of Southwark, and William Ingge, archdeacon of Surrey. John appealed to the pope, and the cause was re-heard by William de Crouthorne, canon of Salisbury. An appeal was again made, and papal letters were obtained, addressed to the bishop of London, Adam Mirimouth, canon of London, and Laurence de la Barre, canon of Wells, but canon William, acting on his commission, gave sentence, condemning John in costs to be paid to William and Eleanor, whereupon John prayed the pope to put an end to the subterfuges, intricacies, and involutions of judicial processes. The pope orders the bishop of Coventry to summon the parties, and cause to be brought before him all the processes. If John has been despoiled of his wife, she is to be restored to him, and justice is to be done, notwithstanding the said appeals and processes.

Mandate, at the king's request, to ascertain the facts touching the alleged poverty of the monastery of Louth Park, which is said to be taxed for the tenth beyond the value of its possessions, and to send a full report to the pope, who will take such action as may be necessary.
