1321. 8 Kal. Nov. Avignon. (f. 34.)	To Edmund, son of the late king, earl of Kent. Begging him not to take it ill that the pope is unable to grant his request for a faculty to the prior of Bath, and his successors, to use pontifical insignia.
n.d. (f. 34.)	To Rigaud, bishop of Winchester. Acquittance for 3000 gold florins of Florence collected by him, being the first fruits of all benefices in the realm void during three years.
1322. 14 Kal. Feb. Avignon. (f. 34d.)	To the king. Informing him that at his request Roger, archdeacon of Richmond, has been appointed to the see of Coventry and Lichfield. The pope begs the king to excuse the delay in the papal court of Robert, an Augustinian, and professor of theology, whom the king has sent on business, and who has insisted, in season and out of season, on its despatch.

Exhorting him to maintain the reconciliation made with the barons, magnates, and nobles of his realm, to whom the pope had written, but now, on hearing of the reconciliation, withholds the letters. The pope desires the king to provide against a renewal of the disturbance touching the sentence issued against Hugh le Despensier and his son.
n.d. (f. 35.)	To Thomas, earl of Lancaster. Desiring him to foster peace between the king and his nobles. Touching the matter of Provence, the pope has spoken to Robert, king of Sicily.

11 Kal. Feb. Avignon. (f. 35d.)	To the earl of Lancaster. Touching the matter of Provence, about which the pope has spoken to the king of Sicily, of whom the pope wishes the earl to write more courteously, and exhorting him to foster peace between the king of England and his nobles.
14 Kal. Feb. Avignon. (f. 35d.)	To Rigaud, bishop of Winchester. Mandate to inform the pope of the state of affairs between the king and his barons, and of the remedies which the bishop thinks that the pope can adopt touching the same.

3 Id. Jan. Avignon. (f. 35d.)	Appointment of Roger to the see of Coventry and Lichfield, void by the death of the late bishop.
15 Kal. Feb. Avignon. (f. 36.)	To the king. Praying him to restore to Bosus de Petragora the castle of Blaye (Blavia), in the diocese of Bordeaux, which has been taken from him by the seneschal of Gascony. If the king wishes to keep the castle, suitable compensation should be made to the said noble.

2 Kal. May. Avignon. (f. 36.)	To the king. Touching the bishop of Lincoln and the truce. What the pope had done in these matters before the king's letters were received he will hear from his envoys. The pope has no intention of interfering with royal rights, and begs the king not to interfere with those of the church; he has granted those of the king's petitions which he could.
n.d. (f. 36d.)	To Walter, archbishop of Canterbury. Congratulating him on the news contained in his letters of the king's success, and the return of peace to the realm, and exhorting him to watch over the good estate of the realm, and to persuade the king to ascribe the victory to God. The pope thanks him for the precious cope sent by John de Grotam, papal penitentiary.
12 Kal. May. Avignon. (f. 36d.)	To Roger, bishop elect of Lichfield and Coventry, whose presence is desired by the king. Power to be consecrated by any catholic bishop of his choice, with two or three assistants. Enclosed is the form of oath to be taken by the bishop elect.
3 Non. May. Avignon. (f. 37.)	To the archbishops of Canterbury and York, and Roger, bishop elect of Lichfield and Coventry. Mandate, at the king's request, to relax and annul the oaths taken by those who have conspired against Hugh le Despensier, the elder, and Hugh, his son, giving such injunctions to the said conspirators as are fitting.
3 Non. May. Avignon. (f. 37.)	To the archbishop of Canterbury and the bishops of Winchester and Ely. Mandate to publish the sentence of excommunication promulgated by the pope against those nobles and magnates who attack the king and his realm.
12 Kal. May. (f. 37d.)	To Henry, bishop of Lincoln. Mandate to desist from and correct his offences in encouraging and assisting the rebels, and to endeavour to appease the king.

5 Kal. June. Avignon. (f. 38.)	To the king. Urging him to restore to the master and brethren of the Hospitallers whatever property, formerly belonging to the Templars, and given by Clement V. to the Hospitallers, is held and unlawfully detained by any in his realm, papal mandates and threats of excommunication touching the same having been disregarded.
5 Kal. May. Avignon. (f. 39d.)	To the king. Requesting him to cause to be restored to certain merchants of Pisa the vessel and merchandise of which they have been despoiled by the king's subjects in the port of Sandwich (Sadissi).

Requesting him to revoke whatever has been done against George de Iporegia, canon of Lincoln, who has been despoiled of a prebend of the same, as also of a prebend of Southwell, by William de Bevercote, canon of the same. Three writs were issued to the sheriff of Oxford to seize and imprison the said George, on false information given by William.
18 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 44d.)	To the same. Commending to him Elias Talairandi, to whom the pope has given the archdeaconry of Richmond, void by the consecration of Roger, bishop of Coventry and Lichfield.

Requesting him to make just and speedy restitution to William de Bona and Angelinus Escot, citizens of Majorca, of merchandise exceeding in value 70,000 florins, which was seized by two English armed vessels while the galleys containing them were on their way from Calais to Majorca.
15 Kal. Mar. Avignon. (f. 232d.)	To the bishop of Dunblane. Request to interpose on behalf of John de Britannia, earl of Richmond, and Henry, lord of Sully, butler of France, who have been seized in a conflict between the English and Scots, the bearer of the letters being a clerk of the said earl.

9 Kal. April. Avignon. (f. 233.)	To the king. Commending to him Bernard Brachifort, citizen and merchant of Piacenza, who is coming to plead for restitution of merchandise of which he has been despoiled in the Flemish seas by the king's men and ships.
3 Id. April. Avignon. (f. 283.)	To the same. Desiring him to suffer Peter, abbot of Cluny, to exact and take out of the realm a double twentieth, and procurations from the subjects of his order, without let or hindrance from the king's officials. The king is requested to allow the said abbot to take the oath of fealty for his manors aud other property in the realm, at Paris or elsewhere in France, and to put no bindrance in the way of the abbot's enjoyment of his property in England.
12 Kal. June. Avignon. (f. 233d.)	To the same. Praying him to show favour to G. prior of Peyrusse (Petrucia), in the diocese of Rodez, and to Raymond de Asserio, brothers of Rigaud, late bishop of Winchester, who are coming to England to recover his goods.
n.d. (f. 233d.)	To Walter, archbishop of Canterbury. Requesting him, together with his suffragans and other prelates of the realm, to foster peace between the king and his nobles.
4 Kal. Aug. Avignon. (f. 234.)	To Master Hugh de Engolisma, sacristan of Narbonne, papal nuncio, who is put in the place of Rigaud, late bishop of Winchester, formerly canon of Orleans, as collector of dues. Mandate to exact and receive all first year's fruits, rents, and residues of void benefices and assign them to the pope and the Roman church. Archiepiscopal and abbatial churches are exempted, as also benefices whose value does not exceed 6 marks, and those void by exchange, vicarages and chaplaincies, and other temporary endowments and gifts. Sub-collectors are to be appointed and replaced as the collectors shall see fit.
4 Kal. Aug. Avignon. (f. 235.)	To all prelates, rectors, chapters, and convents, secular and regular. Monition and request to put no difficulty in the way of the said collector and sub-collectors, to whom faculties are given to enforce payment of dues.
Ibid. (f. 235d.)	To Master Hugh de Engolisma. Mandate to proceed in the collection of the Holy Land tenth of all benefices in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, ordered by Gregory X. Nicholas IV. Boniface VIII. and Clement V. also of Peter's pence and other dues, the residue of procurations of legates and nuncios, and those of Giffredus, bishop of Parma, formerly nuncio, who died intestate, and money penalties, and redemption of vows. Faculty is given him to absolve, dispense, or cite persons, as may be necessary; also to give safe conduct, or quittance, when required, acting in all cases with the authority of the apostolic see.

Mandate to compel the executors of the will of Anthony, patriach of Jerusalem, formerly bishop of Durham, to pay the tenth due in regard both of the bishopric and of the patriarchate, the said executors having made frivolous excuses, as also a sum of 500 marks, being the residue of procurations due to Beraldus, bishop of Albano, and Simon, bishop of Palestrina, then papal nuncios, collected by the said Anthony, payment of which Rigaud, bishop of Winchester, was ordered to enforce.

Requesting him to make restitution to Obertinus Bergonnoni, fellow of Gabriel Guadagnabene, Corrad Zanardi, Bernard Brachifort, and Luchinus Sordi, merchants of Piacenza, who have been robbed by the king's subjects in the English sea of forty-five bales of cloth [value] 40l. sterling.
13 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 238.)	To the king. The pope has received his letters by John de Stratford, then archdeacon of Lincoln. In them, which the pope received on May 9, the king desired the pope to appoint Robert Baldok to the see of Winchester, void by the death of Rigaud, who died at the apostolic see; but the pope had already, without his knowledge, appointed John to the said see, and has consecrated him.
13 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 238d.)	To Walter, archbishop of Canterbury. Desiring him to interpose in the matter of the appointment to the see of Winchester, and induce the king to treat John de Stratford with favour.

7 Kal. Sept. Avignon. (f. 239.)	To the king. Requesting him to liberate the dean of Badajoz, who has been seized and imprisoned by the king's officers. The dean, in company with Peter Laurentii, came to England on behalf of Raymond, cardinal of St. Mary's in Cosmedin, to whom the pope has given the archdeaconry of Canterbury, void by the death of Simon de Convenis. The archbishop, however, gave it to his chancellor, John de Bretona, who procured the seizure of the said dean. The pope requires the king to liberate the dean, and to treat him and Peter, or any other proctors of the said cardinal, with favour, and to allow them to fulfil their mission.

17 Kal. April. Avignon. (f. 405d.)	To Raymund, brother of the late William de Balaeto. Acquittance for 577l. 10s. being the balance of the account rendered of money received in England for the papal camera. 587l. 10s. were due, of which Raymund paid 67l. on 9 Kal Jan. and 50l. 5s. on the date of this quittance. The residue of procurations due amounted to 409l. of which a balance of 50l. 5s. has been remitted.
