Mandate to summon John Fossour, prior of Durham, Master Ralph de Blaykesten, clerk, and Roger de Blaykesten, his brother, layman, and, informing himself touching the complaint of Robert de Tresk, canon of Howden, to cite them to appear before the pope, in regard to the prebend of Thorp in Howden, provision of which was made to Robert de Adria, after the death of Arnald, cardinal of St. Eustace's, but before such provision it was held by Bernard de Sistre, archdeacon of Canterbury, papal collector and receiver of fruits of void benefices. John Fossour, prior of Durham, to whom the collation of canonries and prebends of Howden is said to belong, before the voidance of the said canonry and prebend was said to have made a contract of sale of the same to Roger de Blaykesten, who, in virtue of the sale, gave them to Ralph, who now holds it; whereupon the pope ordered the archbishop of York and the bishop of Durham to revoke the contract, and to cause satisfaction to be made to Robert de Adria, on whose death, before this mandate was carried out, papal provision of the canonry and prebend was made to Robert de Tresk, who has taken nothing by it, notwithstanding that a case is proceeding between Robert and Ralph before John de Jaurens, papal auditor.

Mandate, on the part of Richard, bishop of Ossory, to make enquiry touching Alexander, archbishop of Dublin, a notorious fosterer of heretics, who has defended Robert de Couton, suspected of heresy, against the bishop of Ossory, whom, after forcing him to release Robert from prison, he cited to Dublin, a place not safe for the said bishop, who appealed to the pope, but found the ports closed against him, by order of the archbishop and of the governor of the island. Double procurations have been extorted by the said archbishop on his yearly visitation of the diocese of Ossory, and for twenty years the archbishop has disregarded ecclesiastical sentences, and for fifteen years has been suspected as a fosterer of heretics and heresy, touching whom Bernard, cardinal of St. Ciriac's, was commissioned to inform himself; and the pope has caused the archbishop to be cited, but he has not appeared.
