1401. 15 Kal. Oct. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 34.)	To William Sylk, clerk, of the diocese of Meath (Minden.). Reservation of one or two or more benefices, wont to be assigned to secular clerks, even if two of them have cure or be dignities (dignitas), one of them major or principal respectively, personatus or offices in metropolitan, cathedral or collegiate churches, and be elective, value not exceeding 60 marks, in the common or several gift of the archbishop of Dublin and the bishop of Meath, the chapter and each of the canons and persone of Dublin, the abbot and convent of St. Thomas the Martyr's by Dublin, and the priors and convents of (de) Lontodenay Primi in Wales and Lo[n]todenay Secundi by Gloucester, in the dioceses of St. Davids and Worcester; even canonries and prebends of the said churches of Dublin and Meath. Vite ac morum.

4 Non. Aug. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 53.)	To the bishop of Ardfert. Mandate to reserve, and to collate and assign to Thady (Taheus) Omulthag, priest, of the diocese of Ardfert, according to his fitness in Latin, a benefice with or without cure, or a benefice without cure only, wont to be given to secular clerks, value not exceeding 25 marks with cure or 18 without, in the common or several gift of the bishop and the dean and chapter and each of the canons of Ardfert, and the Augustinian prior and convent of Killagh (de Bellolooe) in the diocese of Ardfert; provided that it be not a cathedral canonry and prebend. Dignum arbitramur. (De mandato.)

8 Kal. May. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 103d.)	To John Elvet, canon of York. Provision, motu proprio, of a canonry in each of York, Lincoln and Salisbury, with reservation of a prebend in each and of a dignity, even with cure, major and elective, personatus or office in one of them. Vite etc.

Mandate to reserve and to collate and assign to William White of Beverley, priest, of the diocese of York, if found fit in Latin, one or two benefices, even if such one or one of such two have cure; or, if not so found fit and if he do not swear to become so within a year, one or two benefices without cure, wont to be assigned to secular clerks, value not exceeding 60 marks, in the common or several gift of the Augustinian prior and convent of Bridlington and the provost of Beverley. Dignum arbitramur.
2 Id. July. St. Peter's, Rome (f. 138.) (fn. 1)	To the archdeacon of Aghadoe (de Achadeo) in Ardfert. Mandate to reserve, and collate and assign to Alan [son] of Denis Ysullebayn, clerk, of the diocese of Ardfert, a like benefice as above, f. 53, in the like gift of the bishop and the dean and chapter and each of the canons of Ardfert, and the Cistercian abbot and convent of O'Dorney (Kyrelyson) in the diocese of Ardfert; provided that it be not a cathedral canonry and prebend, and notwithstanding that he holds the perpetual vicarage of Killneueayn in the said diocese, which, upon obtaining such benefice with cure, he is to resign. The like to Denis Florencii, clerk, of the diocese of Ardfert, a like benefice in the like gift of the same patrons as in f. 53 (here with spelling Belliloio), in the diocese of Ardfert; provided that it be not a cathedral canonry and prebend. The like to Charles Ocwina, priest, of the diocese of Ardfert, according to his fitness in Latin, a benefice with cure and another without cure, or a benefice without cure only, value not exceeding 25 marks with cure or 18 without, in the like gift of the same patrons (here with spelling Bellow); even if such one, or one of such two, be a cathedral canonry and prebend. Relaxation of seven years and seven quadragene of enjoined penance to penitents who on the principal feasts of the year and those of St. Dominic [and] St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Patrick (Pamcii), Confessors, and [St.] Peter Martyr, St. Mary Magdalene, St. Catherine, St. Bridget and [St.] Sitha, Virgins, and the dedication, etc. as above, Reg. LXXXIX, f. 191d, as far only as in Droghda (sic), in the diocese of Armagh. ‘Universis Christifidelibus … inspecturis, salutem etc. Ante tronum etc. Cupientes igitur …’ (De mandato.) 1401. Non. Sept. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 179.)	Indulgence of the Portiuncula to penitents who from the first to the second vespers inclusive of Passion Sunday and St. Michael the Archangel, and during two days after each, visit and give alms for the conservation or repair of the altar of the parish church of St. Michael, Wernolfwyk (sic), in the diocese of York; with indult for the Cistercian abbot of Kyrkestall, whose abbot and convent hold the said church to their own uses, and eight or more priests, secular or regular, chosen by him, to hear the confessions and give absolution, except in cases reserved to the apostolic see. Those who are prevented by infirmity and send their oblations, shall gain the indulgence. Univ. Christifid. etc. Licet is. (De mandato.)

6 Id. Aug. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 181.)	To James, bishop of Aquila, dwelling in the Roman court. Mandate, as below, recapitulating the circumstances related above (Reg. Lat. LXXXVIII, f. 265) of the cause between Thomas Brake, priest, of the diocese of Lincoln and John Boor, canon of Salisbury about the church of Oundell, and the pope's mandate (ibid.) to the above bishop to resume the cause in petitorio, and to proceed in and to terminate by a single sentence the causes in petitorio and in possessorio. The pope has since learned that the said Thomas iniquitously despoiled John of the said church, and that he procured the said mandate in order to cloke (ad paliandum) the longer his intrusion; that the pope has on John's behalf been petitioned in public consistory to revoke it, and has received the report of Cosmatus cardinal priest of St. Cross in Jerusalem. He therefore, motu proprio, orders the above bishop, who still holds the place of a papal auditor, to suspend the cause in petitorio, and to proceed in possessorio only, and to take no cognizance notwithstanding the said mandate, which is hereby revoked and annulled, of the cause in petitorio until that in possessorio is terminated and John is restored, if and as far as he has a right to be restored, to possession. 6 Kal. Oct. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 192.)	To William Milton, rector of Farneham in the diocese of Lincoln, B.C.L. Dispensation to hold for life with Farneham [here Londonien. dioc.], value not exceeding 30 marks, or with any other benefice, one other incompatible benefice, even if an elective dignity, major or principal respectively, personatus or office, with or without cure, in a metropolitan, cathedral or collegiate church, and to resign both for exchange or otherwise as often as seems good to him and hold instead two similar or dissimilar incompatible benefices. Confirmation, motu proprio, of his presentation by the patrons, seventeen years ago, and institution by the late bishop John, to his perpetual vicarage of Dulverton, in the said diocese. 17 Kal. June. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 215.)	To the community (universitas) and men of the township (villate) or hamlet of Dalewode in the diocese of Salisbury. Grant—in consideration of the distance, about two miles, of their parish church of Stokelond, and of the difficulty of access, especially through winter floods—that they may enclose, and have consecrated by any catholic bishop in communion with the apostolic see, a cemetery, even if not contiguous to their chapel—which chapel was once a parish church, but is now daughter to Stokelond, and in which from time immemorial they have had masses and other divine offices, sacraments and sacramentals—and to have burials therein, as well as in the said chapel. 8 Kal. June. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 221.)	To John Pygot, the younger, rector of Lavenham, in the diocese of Norwich. Dispensation during five years to him, who has the tonsure only, not to be obliged to have himself promoted to holy orders on account of his said church or any other benefices while engaged in the service of king Henry, or studying letters at an university, or residing in some other honest place. Kal. Aug. St. Peter's, Rome. (f. 243.)	Indulgence, during ten years, of the Portiuncula to penitents who on the Nativity and Annunciation of St. Mary the Virgin, and the two days after each, visit and give alms for the conservation and repair of the Cistercian monastery of St. Mary, Merevale (de Mirevallis) in the diocese of Lichfield; with power for the abbot and four other priests, secular or religious, deputed by him, to hear the confessions and grant absolution except in cases reserved to the apostolic see. The like, also during ten years, to penitents who on the Sunday next before the Annunciation, and the Sunday next after Corpus Christi, with the two days after each, visit and give alms for the fabric or conservation and repair of the parish church of St. Mary the Virgin, Notyngham, in the diocese of York, which has been newly begun with solemn, wondrous (mirifico) and manifold sumptuous work, towards the consummation of which a multitude of workmen, with assiduous toil, fervently strive daily.
