To John de Bolden, claustral prior of St. Mary's, Jeddwartht, O.S.A., in the diocese of Glasgow, licentiate of canon law. Reservation by these presents (which the pope wills to have force as if they had been granted under date 6 Kal. Feb. anno 1 [1418] (fn. 2) ) to him, who is of baronial race, and is a licentiate of canon law by examination, of a benefice with or without cure wont to be governed by canons of St. Andrews or St. Mary's, Jeddwartht, even if a priory etc., value not exceeding 25 marks sterling [if with cure, or 18 if without, cf. f. 88], in the common or several gift of the bishop and the prior and chapter of St. Andrews and the abbot and convent of St. Mary's. As soon as he obtains a benefice wont to be governed by canons of St. Andrews he is to be transferred thither. The reservation is made notwithstanding that he holds the claustral priorship of St. Mary's, a perpetual office without cure (simplex), value not exceeding 12l. sterling, which he has hereby indult to hold for two years in commendam together with such benefice. Mandate to reserve in virtue of these presents (which the pope wills, as in the preceding (fn. 2) ) and, when void, to collate and assign to John Pilmur, Augustinian canon of St. Andrews, a benefice with or without cure, even if a dignity etc., wont to be governed by canons of the said order, value not exceeding 25 marks sterling if with cure, or 18 if without, in the common or several gift of the bishop and the prior and chapter of St. Andrews and the abbot and convent of Holyrood, Edunburch. Motu proprio collation and provision to him, who is a licentiate of civil law by examination and is also M.A., and who has been sent to the pope as ambassador of Charles, king of the French, by these presents (which the pope wills to have force as if they had been granted under date 7 Kal. Feb. anno 1 (fn. 3) ), of a canonry of Glasgow with reservation of a prebend and a dignity etc. thereof, and of a benefice with or without cure wont to be assigned to secular clerks, value not exceeding 100 or 80 marks sterling accordingly, in the common or several gift of the bishop and the prior and chapter of St. Andrews, even if it be the archdeaconry of that church, a non-major dignity, wont to be held by secular clerks; with dispensation hereby to hold three incompatible benefices for five years and two thereafter for life, and grant that in any graces concerning benefices, which shall be granted to him up to the day of the expedition of these presents, he shall not be bound to make mention of these presents.
