May 14.	2,076. Petition of Sir John Kirk, Knight, to the King. In 1628 I and my brother captured Quebec, Acadia, and Canada. In 1632 these territories were restored to the French, on condition that they paid to us £5,500, and you gave us letters patent giving us the sole right to trade with Canada. We accordingly sent a ship there, with cargo worth £1,200, which was seized and confiscated by the French, who refuse to restore it. I beg for your intercession with the French King, as our ambassador in Paris has been unable to obtain justice for me. Endorsed. Knight. Very insignificant. (12.) Tho. Walrond. A good man. Colonel Tho. Colleton, Sir? Peter's brother, good. Major John Hallett, a good man.
