Cardinal S. Sisto remains in retirement, and so they cannot terminate the Brera affair. I hope that when your lordship begins to deal with it, you will finish it soon.
Mons. Giacobello must have written to you about his return to Milan, as he promised me to do so before leaving Rome.
I made a mistake in saying 300 lire instead of 700, as the increase your lordship has given to the priests of Somasca for the care of the College of Pavia.
I believe I have already written that Messer Francesco Maria Tanigi differs from his father about S. Antonio.
I shall know what to do about the demand made by the Chapter of Monza on the Congregation of the Council about half the fruits, and the Priest Galitio can stay at Milan for his suit. I will tell Cardinal Alciato your lordship's answer to the head of the notaries of Lodi.
I have obtained a copy of the brief your lordship obtained in '72 for those obliged to send bulls here and I will try to get another.
I again ask your lordship for a copy of the two letters about Sig. Ottavio Goniago which I showed to Cardinal Altaemps. He thought the matter ruined and told me to show them to Cardinal Alciato. An agent of their lordships' has been here a while about that affair.
I will try to find a tutor for Sig. Ferranti. His father has proposed one who will, I think, please your lordships if he accepts. I think you know him; he is M. Sebastiano Puteo, who served Sadolito and Sfondrati as secretary and afterwards served the Cardinal of England and all his until his death, unless I am mistaken. He also acted at court here for the Bishop of Cremona.
Monsig. Frumento continues to dispatch the affairs of your lordship, etc., etc.

The letter of your lordship to the nuncio in my favour did much for me. The nuncio showed such zeal that he obtained 200 gold pieces from his Catholic Majesty for my journey to my country. This is one among many benefits received from your lordship. May God preserve you.

Milan.		 1001. Bishop Salviati, the nuncio, to Cardinal Carlo Borromeo.
The Bishop of Ross, a Scot, is going to Rome for some affairs of his queen and take the pardon of the holy year. He proposes to visit Milan and pay his respects to your lordship. As he has no attendants with him he proposes to use one of mine for the introduction. I have gladly satisfied his wishes and written this, as he is one of those Catholics who, for the sake of the faith has lost his bishopric and has been long imprisoned in England.

Milan.		 1002. The Bishop Of Vercelli to the Cardinal Sta. Prassede.
This Bishop of Scotland, passing through Vercelli on his way to Rome for the Jubilee, has expressed a desire to visit your Eminence and as he only has a slight acquaintance, he wished me to send this. From my slight conversation with him, he seems a worthy prelate, so I know that you will receive him with your customary kindness.
Vercelli, the 18th October, 1575.
The nuncio leaves to-day and I hope this city will derive material benefit from his visit.

I wish to add a few lines to what the Bishop of Vercelli has written begging you to receive the Bishop of Ross, the bearer of these presents, who is going to Rome on the affairs of the Queen of Scotland, and give him a hearty welcome.
