December 1557

346. Lord Wentworth, Governor of Calais, to Philip
Calais, 31 December Sire: The enemy's entire army is lying to-night near Elarnay (sic) which is three leagues from here, and I have certain information that they mean to break camp at about midnight and move against this town. As this is a matter of grave concern to your Majesty and the Queen, I did not wish to fail to inform you, and to beg you to take the necessary measures.
Holograph. French.
