for the Surgeon's mate of the said Regiment for 1633 days viz. from 1 April 1694 to 19 Sept. 1698 at 2s. 6d. per diem: by Wm. III's warrant of 22 Feb. 1699– 1700: certified from the Earl of Ranelagh's Office: [and here included] in case no deduction is to be made for his subsistence all that time 204 2 6

Equitable Claims by the said Regiment.
for 13 men reduced in each Troop 18 Oct. 1697; the Captains by Monsieur Auverquerque's orders having paid them to the 31st of the same month viz. 14 days beyond their reducement: which money being certified from the Earl of Ranelagh's Office not to have been allowed in clearing this Regiment to 19 Sept. 1698 (though allowed in all other Regiments in the Army in the like case cleared by the [Army Debts] Commissioners) amounts to 204l. 15s. for 117 men, being 13 men in each of the 9 Troops at 2s. 6d. per day each 204 15 0
T38/798, p. 109. For a stoppage made by the Earl of Ranelagh in the clearings of this Regiment to the same time for arms, though certified from the said Earl's Office to have been allowed to all the other Regiments of the Army 630 16 0
For a moiety of the sum of 675l. stopped by the Earl of Ranelagh in his clearings of this Regiment from 1st April 1692 for provision [used] in transportation: it being certified from the said Earl's Office that his late Majesty allowed to the Horse in the Army one half of such transportation charges 337 10 0
For one moiety of the sum of 927l. 18s. 4d. stopped by the Earl of Ranelagh from this Regiment in their clearings from 1 April 1692 to 19 Sept. 1698 for provisions etc. supplied by the Commissioners for Transportation but certified from the Earl of Ranelagh's Office to have been allowed to the other Regiments of Horse in the Army 463 19 2
For one moiety of the stoppage of 29l. 18s. 7½d. made by said Earl of Ranelagh for provisions supplied to this Regiment by Commissary Fielding 14 19
£1651 19
Ibid., p. 110. The said Regiment also claims one moiety of the sum of 569l. 3s. 9d. alleged to be stopped from them by Mr. Fox for charges of Transportation in the clearing this Regiment to 21 March 1692: which moiety amounts to 284l. 11s. 10½d. But it hath not been certified to us that such stoppage was so made, or that any allowance of this kind was made to other Regiments in Ireland before 1 April 1692.
A demand is made by Col. Hopton in behalf of himself and several of the Officers of the late Lord Lovelace's Regiment upon their clearings, for their service in the reduction of Ireland.
It appears upon our stating the accounts of the said Regiment from the time of their raising in March and April 1689 to the time of their being broke on the 9th January following that the pay of the Commission Officers from 1 Sept. 1689 (to which time they were regularly cleared by Mr. Harbord) amounts to 1273l. 15s.
0d., of which there hath been paid by the said Mr. Harbord 604l. 15s. 6¼d.; and by Lord Coningsby 83l. 11s. 6d. and by Mr. Fox 50l. or in all 738l. 7s. 0¼d. But of this sum there having been overpaid to 24 of the Officers of this Regiment 105l. 0s. 11¼d. there remains due to the rest of the Officers the sum of 640l. 8s. 11d.: viz.: due to

Quarter Master Willis 6 0 0
— Howell, Surgeon 6 0 0
— Turty, Surgeon's mate 12 10 0
£640 8 11
But it is to be noted that the reason why this debt remains [due] to the said Officers is that the contract for clothing the Regiment was fully paid [to] the clothier by particular warrant of the Treasury, though the offreckonings did not amount to so much [as was paid to the clothier] by reason that the Regiment did not continue above 10 months [before being broken] whereby the Commissioners appointed by Act of Parliament for stating the debts due to the Army, Navy etc. being limited (in giving the Regiment credit) to the Establishment and Muster Rolls, could not take cognizance of this demand of the Officers in arrear, there having been as much money issued to the Officers and soldiers and for offreckonings as equalled the credit of the Regiment. Memorandum: There is due to Mr. John Pink [the painter] for 12 colours for this Regiment the sum of 96l. 2s. 6d., for which the Lord Lovelace having given an order to the Paymaster [of the Forces] to deduct it from the Captains, there ought to be deducted from each of them for their respective colours the sum of 8l. 0s. 2½d. out of the sums above stated to be due to the said Captains: [such deductions to be] to the use of the said Mr. Pink.
T 38/798, p. 112. To Capt. Martin Laycock, late Captain in Visct. Charlemont's Regiment of Foot and to the Officers and soldiers of his Company upon the balance of an account stated by the Commissioners for stating the accompts of the Army in Ireland [there is due] 668l. 14s. 8½d. whereof he [Laycock] acknowledges that 108l. 16s. 2d. has been paid to Mr. Fownes: so remains due 559 18
But the said Commissioners in the stated account take notice of the sum of 224l. 17s. 2½d. paid to him at several times [or instalments] in England for the subsistence of his Company as by an acknowledgment under his hand, which for more certainty they refer to the Treasury in England.
It does not appear to us whether that was all the money so paid in England, nor whether the said sum of 108l. 16s. 2d. acknowledged to be paid to Fownes since the said stated account is all that has been paid towards the said balance of 668l. 14s. 8½d.
