repairs of the roof and outside of their College Chapel and intended
to proceed to the enlargement and beautifying the inside thereof
to an estimate of 3000l. more but now I find that they have actually
laid out 5000l. |

As to the allegation of a debt of 465l. due to them out of the
Exchequer I find from inspection of the College books that Henry
VI in his charter of incorporation of the said College gave to the
Provost and Fellows 3 tun of Gascony wine yearly Customs free;
and that same used to be paid in kind by the Chief Butler till the
latter part of the reign of Henry VIII when it was changed into
money at the rate of 5l. per tun and the same was thenceforth paid
till Michaelmas 1674 and also 4l. 4s. 0d. per an. for Impost Duty for
the same, which latter sum was similarly paid to 1672 Xmas "since
which [time] these annual allowances have been discontinued to
