June 21. Royal sign manual for 20,000l. to John Taylour, deputy to Samuell Travers, Surveyor General of Crown Lands, without account other than such as shall be rendered to the Duke of Marlborough : and is to be for and towards the charge of building and making the fabric or mansion house and gardens by direction of the said Duke within the park of Woodstock. Treasury reference to the Customs Commissioners of the petition of Thomas Guybon and James Cheesley, of London merchants, praying that certain French white prize wines which they have laid up in several warehouses may be sold by auction, they not being worth the Duty and daily perishing from the hot weather. Same to the Victualling Commissioners of the petition of John Hyde and Thomas Wharton on behalf of themselves and owners of the ships York Merchant, Potuxon Merchant and Ann and Mary shewing that they agreed with the Victualling Commissioners to load their ships at 45l. per ton freight to Lisbon and according to their obligation had the ships ready in 23 days but were obliged to stay two months for want of convoy : therefore praying an allowance for demurrage. Edmonton] in co. Middlesex ut supra p. 253 : viz. for unlawfully taking the sum of 4l. on pretence of a forfeiture for drawing a waggon with 6 horses against the form of the statute and for extorting the like sum from Matthew Lancaster upon pretence of the like offence. likewise for lining the great torter shell Bewro in the Dressing Room at Kensington with new velvet and a leather for the Bewro lined with green serge : also a glass 26 inches long 16 inches broad for an Indian frame with a round top and scolloped round the glass, cut according to the frame and a case for it lined : to a total of 15l. The like of a same dated June 21 to John Charleton, Master of the Jewel House, for the delivery to Lady Frechvill of a piece of gold plate of the value of 100l. as a gift from the Queen for a horse race in Yorkshire for the year 1705. Ibid.

Subscription or endorsement by Treasurer Godolphin for the allowing of interest at the rate of 5 per cent. on 4 orders [of loan] on Malt made out in the name of Charles Bertie 1705 May 22 for in all 17,671l. 5s. 5d. and by him assigned to Anthony Brucer [Brewer] with tallies thereto belonging and by him assigned to the Bank of England : to wit as from the 27th inst. William Lowndes to the Victualling Commissioners to report on the enclosed petition [missing] of Richard Maundrell, with a report of the Lord High Admiral thereto annexed, relating to a loss of butter and cheese to the value of 845l. 15s. 7¾d. which he sustained by the late violent storm. Treasury reference to the Customs Commissioners of the petition of Edward Bathurst, Edward Lunn, Thomas Briggs and William Squire, four assistants to the land waiters in London port, shewing that they have been many years employed in that service and praying to be constituted as additional landwaiters there without salary and to be provided for as vacancies happen. Warrant by Treasurer Godolphin to the Queen's Remembrancer for stay of process against Phillip Papillon, late Cashier of the Victualling, he having delivered in such particulars of Lord Orford's accounts relating to the Victualling as the Commissioners thereof desired and they are further examining the said accounts. Same by same to Auditor Harley to prepare for declaration John Warters' account, 1702 June 18 to 1704 June 25, as Comptroller and Solicitor for the Rights and Perquisites of the Admiralty.
Prefixing : (a) said account : total charge 400l. ; total discharge 247l. 7s. 2d. : (b) Auditor Harley's report thereon. The accountant has produced to me the several books and leidgers kept by him : viz. (1) a journal of all prizes brought into Court (2) a leidger book of all prizes, ships and goods condemned, with the appraisements (3) a book of the Receiver's receipts (4) a port book wherein are entered all prizes at the several ports at home and abroad (5) a book containing all the said accountant's orders to his agents for the delivery or restoration of ships and goods (6) a book of letters to his agents. William Lowndes to the [Principal] Officers of the Works to report on the enclosed memorial [missing] of Mr. Stacey, Master Bricklayer of the Works, setting forth the great sums due to him for work already done and the estimated charge of works directed to be done by him. Same to Mr. Borret to attend the Attorney General for his opinion on the enclosed case [missing] relating to the forfeited estates in Ireland, which has been sent to the Lord Treasurer by the Revenue Commissioners of Ireland. Ibid., p. 92.
Treasury reference to the Excise Commissioners of the petition of John Mascall, owner of the Dolphin privateer and the Flying Horse who have taken the St. John Baptist, Princess Hedowiake and Golden Lyon, all three laden with Bordeaux wines and brandies, shewing that several ladings have been condemned and on unloading some brandies appear above proof and the [Excise] Commissioners insist upon double Duties which will amount to more than the brandies can be sold for : therefore praying relief. Same to Mr. Blathwayte of the petition of Anne Bridges, widow of Dr. John Bridges late Chief Justice of New York, praying payment of 575l. for her husband's salary from 1702 Aug. 8 to 1704 July 6 the time of his death. Ibid., p. 170.

Hill's Regiment shewing that being taken prisoners in Portugal and carried to Bordeaux in France and being ordered thence without knowing to what port they furnished themselves with large provisions of wine and brandy and on their arrival in England they left on board some French claret and brandy which is seized : therefore praying relief.
