PREFATORY NOTE

This Volume, like its predecessors Volumes XX–XXII, would have been published earlier but for the War. The late Dr. Shaw had completed the whole work except for some of the Accounts of the Revenue Departments. The Index has been prepared by Mr. R. D. Farmer of the Public Record Office.

A longer Note on the work of the late Dr. Shaw for the Public Record Office, and on the publication of thirteen volumes (of which the present is one) in the state in which he left them, is prefixed to Volume XX of this series.
