Sept. 26. Money warrant for 98l. 14s. 0d. to John Johnson, Esq., Remembrancer of the City of London, for the City Impost on wines for the members and officers of the Corporation of the City of London, detailed, for the year ended 1714 Dec. 25, being at the rate of one ton or 2l. 2s. 0d. Duty for each member and officer and six tons or 12l. 12s. 0d. Jo. Taylour to the Trustees of the Genoese loan. The Treasury Lords direct you to attend them to-morrow morning at 11 o'clock and to bring with you an account of the South Sea Stock which remained in your names as security for the said loan, to wit how much thereof (and of the dividend thereupon) has been applied to the satisfaction of the said loan and its interest; how much of the surplus of the said stock you have received from the purchasers and whether you have paid the same into the Exchequer according to my Lords’ former order in that behalf. Same to the Lord Almoner enclosing the petition of Elizabeth Verboon. It is the King's pleasure that the 20l. per an. paid to her from the Lord Almoner in the reign of Wm. III. should now be paid to her in like manner by your Lordship out of the money to be put into your hands from time to time for the King's alms and charities: and that it be reckoned to begin from Midsummer 1714.
Appending: said petition in French shewing that she was born in the Jewish faith and embraced Protestantism 10 Oct. 1680 and placed her abjuration in the hands of William Loyd, then Bishop of St. Asaph and now Bishop of Worcester, by whom she was baptised and had for godfather “a baron Lionel Jenkins,” first Secretary of State to Charles II., and for godmother the late Countess of Clarendon and the present Countess of Thanet: and that she is deprived by her relatives of her estate: that she married Michael Verboon, who was killed in Ireland in service of Wm.III., who granted her a pension of 20l. per an., which was paid to his death, but was only continued to her by Queen Anne about thirteen years after her accession. Petitioner is reduced to the last degree of poverty and misery. Out Letters (General) XXII, pp. 2–3.
Sept. 26. Treasury warrant [to the Clerk of the Pipe] for a lease to John Pulteney, Esq., of a messuage standing right against the royal palace of St. James's in the parish of St. James's and Liberty of Westminster, late in the parish of St. Martins in the Fields, and now in the tenure of Sir John Mordaunt, abutting south on a street leading from St. James's Street to Cleveland House, east on a messuage in the tenure of Helena Farmer, widow, west on a house in the tenure of John Turnor; and being 14 foot 8 inches in front by 81 foot deep: being part of the premises demised 11 Aug. 1668. by Charles II.to Sir William Pultney of St. James's in the Fields.
Prefixing: particular and memorandum of the premises made out by Auditor Thomas Jett; and ratal thereof by the Surveyor General of Crown Lands.

Sept. 27. Royal sign manual for 422,967l. 5s. 11d. to Robert Walpole, Paymaster of the Forces, as imprest for the Guards, Garrisons and Forces anno 1715. (Money warrant dated Sept. 28 hereon.) William Lowndes to Mr. Maddocks. Send my Lords an account of the amount of the Contributions on the two Acts of Parliament for 5 per cent. Annuities [1 Geo. I., St. 2, c. 19, 1 Geo. I., St. 2. c. 21], reckoning sums already paid and those to be paid to complete contributions to which payments are made in part. “You are desired to send the like accounts to-morrow morning and on Thursday morning.” Ibid. Jo. Taylour to the Board of Works to endorse an estimate on the enclosed letter [missing] from the Lord Chamberlain, which intimates the King's pleasure that a press be provided for the Princess of Wales and a press and desk to rise and fall for the young Princesses. Ibid., p. 4.

Appending: (1) letter from the Duke of Bolton [Lord Chamberlain] to the Treasury Lords dated Cockpit Sept. 23. The King has commanded me to signify his pleasure to you that the partition next the Privy Garden at Hampton Court made use of by the Earl of Albemarle in King William's reign be taken down and the next room to it, being the Earl of Albemarle's dressing room, be taken into his Majesty's private apartment.
(2) A like letter similarly dated. It is the King's pleasure that one room be painted and another wainscotted in the lodgings near Mr. Chetwin's at St. James's which formerly belonged to the Dutch apothecaries and now in the possession of Monsieur le Marichal de Hardenberge.
(3) A like letter similarly dated. It is the King's pleasure that a door be opened from Madam Schulenberg's bedchamber at St. James's into Mrs. Forrester's Closet; and that necessary repairs be made in Mr. Brockett's office belonging to the Secretary of State. Ibid.

Sept. 27. The Treasury Lords to the Revenue Commissioners of Ireland. We have received yours of the 17th inst. acquainting us with your proceedings in relation to the forfeited estate of the late Duke of Ormonde, that you have given notice to the tenants not to pay the rents to any person till further order, “though you have not seen the Act for his attainder.” We approve of what you have so done and herewith send you a printed Copy of the Act [1 Geo. 1, St. 2, c. 17] and do direct you to consult with the Attorney and Solicitor General [of Ireland] for your guidance as to your further proceedings therein. Sept. 28. Letter of direction for 16,143l.15s. 7¾d. (remaining in the Exchequer out of Contributions to the Civil List Lottery of the late Queen Anne anno 1713, being the residue of 500,000l. appropriated towards payment of the debts and arrears of the said late Queen's Civil List) to be paid to Samuel Travers, Esq., upon the unsatisfied order in his name for 30,000l. towards discharging debts on account of the buildings and works at Blenheim. J.Taylour to the Customs Commissioners to report on the enclosed papers [missing] relating to the circumstances of Alice Stephens, whose husband is Comptroller of his Majesty's Customs in Barbados, and who prays such a deduction from his salary as may be a maintenance for herself and five children and will satisfy the debts she has contracted for want of an allowance from him in 11 years’ absence, the said petition being referred to the Treasury by order of the Privy Council. William Lowndes to Mr. Maddocks. You are forthwith to give security for your [fidelity in] answering to the public use the moneys to be contributed for 5 per cent. Annuities on the Act [1 Geo. I, c. 21] for raising 169,000l. Ibid.
Treasury subscription for the execution of a warrant dated Sept. 9 inst. from the Duke of Bolton, Lord Chamberlain, to the Duke of Montagu, Master of the Great Wardrobe, for the delivery to Jonathan Smith, Serjeant of his Majesty's Chapel, of the following particulars for furnishing his Majesty's private Chapel at St. James's, viz.: a carpet and cushion for the Chapel Closet; small carpets for the side closets; a cushion for the pulpit, all of crimson velvet and the carpets to have a gold fringe; curtains for four windows of crimson paragon and crimson taffeta silk; 12 stools; quilts for five benches; a Bible in two parts; two chairs for the Vestry; two damask table cloths and two napkins for the Communion Table: to an estimate of 183l. Treasury reference to the Attorney and Solicitor General of the petition of Lewis, Earl of Rockingham, shewing that the woods called Hunts Wood, Hunts Short, Huntswood Spinney and Prince Wood, containing together 73 acres 3 roods 43 perches, do all lie in Rockingham Forest in the parishes of Rockingham and Weldon, Co.Northants, near adjoining petitioner's house: therefore prays a warrant for making the said woods to be purlieus ("perleus"). Treasury subscription for the execution of a warrant dated Sept. 23 inst. from the Duke of Bolton, Lord Chamberlain of the Household, to the Duke of Montagu, Master of the Great Wardrobe, for the delivery to Mr. Christopher Hill, Master of his Majesty's Barges, of a Standard for his Majesty's State Barge, with crimson silk line and a serge bag to put it in.

Sept. 30. Royal warrant to the Attorney or Solicitor General for a great seal to revoke the great seal which constituted the present Commissioners of Hackney Coaches and Chairs (viz. Jo. Taylour to the Commissioners for Alienations. Send to my Lords with all possible expedition a state of the revenue arisen by Fines for Alienations from the time of his Majesty's accession to 1715 Sept. 29; how much thereof has been paid into the Exchequer, what other payments have been made thereout by the Receiver General thereof and by what letters patent or other authorities and what remained in his hands at Michaelmas last. Treasury warrant to same to permit a bell weighing 150 pounds to be exported to the Canaries on the Medway galley, William Paul master, “being to be used there for a clock”: all on the petition of Robert Burrell. Warrants not Relating to Money XXIII, p. 254.
Same to the Surveyor General of Crown Lands for a particular of part of Pall Mall Field in order to a further lease thereof to Sir John Vanbrugh.
Prefixing: said Surveyor General's report on said Vanbrugh's petition for same. By an assignment dated 4 Aug. 1703 Adam Wooley (entitled by mesne assignments from the Duke of St. Albans) granted to petitioner for 760l. all that Gateway leading into Phœnix Yard in the Haymarket, 11 foot 6 high by 11 foot 6 broad, and a little room used for an Hostry adjoining thereto on the north, under a house sometime in the possession of Thomas Ground and formerly taken out of the same; and also a parcel of ground there with the messuages, stables, coach-houses, rooms and buildings thereupon, containing 132 feet in front next the Haymarket and 132 feet in depth and 12 foot of ground for a garden on the west side next Market Lane, and 8½ foot of ground railed in towards the Haymarket, excepting out of the said premises four messuages and a stable situate in the Haymarket then late in the tenure of Martin Frogg, William Jackson, Richard Furlington and Thomas Ground: all for 37 years at 50l. per an. rent payable to said Wooley: of which premises the said Vanbrugh obtained a fresh lease from the Crown 1 Aug. 1706.
By another deed dated 20 Sept. 1704 Thomas Holford (likewise entitled by mesne assignment from the Duke of St. Albans) conveyed to said Vanbrugh the abovesaid four excepted messuages (one of them then divided into two) and the stable and the 8½ foot of ground lying before the premises next the Haymarket in consideration for 1,120l.
All the abovesaid premises do contain in front 132 foot and in depth 145 foot beside the 8½ foot next the Haymarket formerly railed in.
The petitioner hath erected a theatre and some other buildings on the premises: but by reason of the casualties and continual repairs that attend the said theatre I cannot value the whole at above 400l. per an., and the said four houses are much out of repair and will soon require to be rebuilt. To encourage the rebuilding the petitioner may be granted an extension of lease to make his term 50 years for a fine of 200l. and with a reserve rent of 2s. 6d. in the pound on the additional term, which amounts to 50l. per an.
