Nov. 1.	1. Memorial of the Secretary-at-War to the Lord High Treasurer, referring to a letter from Mons. le Blanc, and a representation of the magistracy of Dunkirk, as to the lodging of the officers. Had written to him that the expense of bedding, &c. which had been furnished to the citadel, Fort Louis, the Rysbank, and other forts, which used to be furnished at the charge of the King of France, should be borne by her Majesty, &c. Dated 1 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“4 Nov. 1712. Read. Write to M^r Brydges to make y^e course.” 2½ pages.
Nov. 1.	2. Com^rs for Transports to M^r Lowndes. Drawing the L^d High Treasurer's attention to certain outstanding demands against the King of Portugal for bread carried there in 1703, and powder, &c. carried to Lisbon in 1704 and 1705 for the Duke of Savoy. Dated 1 Nov. 1712. 2½ pages.
Nov. 1.	3. The same to the L^d [High Treasurer]. Give an account of their method of conducting their business, the names and some particulars of their storekeepers, and the state of their affairs with the Auditors of Imprests. Dated 1 Nov. 1712. 4 pages.
Nov. 1.	4. Affidavit of Dame Dorothy Thomas, widow and administratrix of Dalby Thomas, late lieut. of her Majesty's fireship, “the Hawk,” that she never received the ticket for her son's pay, and believed it to be lost. Dated 1 Nov. 1712. ½ page.
Nov. 1.	5. Com^rs of Victualling to M^r Lowndes. Sending the best account they could get of what provisions had been furnished out of the victualling stores to the ships of the States General, &c. Dated Victualling Office, 1 Nov. 1712. The account. 3 pages.
Nov. 3.	6. Lord Dartmouth to the Lord High Treasurer. Her Majesty had directed him to enclose the accompanying memorial of the Lords of the Admiralty, representing the inconveniences arising from the want of a brewhouse at Portsmouth. Dated Whitehall, 3 Nov. 1712. The copy of the memorial; also proposal of Colby Aspley, of Gosport, to sell his brewhouse, enclosing a paper showing some of the advantages thereof; also a letter from John Radcliffe to “M^r Attorney,” setting forth the advantages of M^r Ridge's brewhouse in Portsmouth. 5 pages and 2 halves.
Nov. 3.	7. Col. J. Dudley to the Lord [High Treasurer]. Had learnt that his L^p was about to send some persons to examine and report on the accounts connected with the expedition to Canada. Nothing would be more acceptable to him, and he would do what he could to assist in the matter, tho' the accounts had already passed the audit and examination of the best accountants and persons of estate in the province. The consequence of delay with the bills would be a stubbornness in the people to come into anything for the public, and would be hurtful to the government there. Had proclaimed the cessation of arms, &c. P.S.—Col. Vetch, Governor of Annapolis, and M^r Borland, agent victualler, had represented the necessity of supplies for that garrison. Had lent them “two thousand & odd hundred pounds resting” there of the sale of two vessels sent by General Hill. Dated New England, Boston, 3 Nov. 1712. 2 pages, quarto.
Nov. 4.	8. Memorial of W. Fitch, appointed to superintend the payments, &c. for the “two million adventure” for the year 1711, to the Lord High Treasurer, praying suitable allowance to himself and eight clerks. Dated 4 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“7 Nov. 1712. To be considered wⁿ my Lord sees the funds have sufficient for the adventurers; till then he cannot advise an add^ll charge.” 1 page.
Nov. 4.	9. “Treasurer of the Navy's memorial for applying 2,050l., formerly ordered to purchase a mast dock and anchor wharf at Deptford, to pay bills of exchange drawn on the navy.” Dated 4 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“Agreed. 1,650 bills exch^a. 400 M^r West no returne to a l~re sent M^r Warters ab^t this so all[ow ?] to bills of exchange.” 1 page.
Nov. 4.	10. Memorial of Sir Solomon de Medina to the Lord High Treasurer. Sets forth what was due to him under his contract for bread and bread waggons. Whilst his accounts were preparing his creditors were prosecuting him at law with all possible violence for bills protested out of Holland, whilst others tore his “poor wife to pieces” at the Hague for bills counter-protested here and sent back there. Prays his L^p to order him 14 or 15,000l. Dated 4 Nov. 1712. Also his answer to Moses de Medina's memorial presented to his Lordship on 20 June 1712. Gives an account of the wrongs he had suffered from the latter, whom he had taken into his house because he was a branch of the family, and married to his daughter with a suitable portion. Charges Moses and his father with combining to get his (Solomon's) bills protested, &c. 3½ pages.
Nov. 4.	11. Report of A. Maynwaring and James Moody, deputy of Auditor Harley, to the Lord High Treasurer, respecting the bills drawn by Col. Hunter, Governor of New York, in connexion with the Canada expedition. Dated 4 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“29 Jan. 1712–13. 2/3^ds to be p[ai]d out of S. S. stock. Victualler's report with the list of bills given M^r Taylour.” 2 pages.
Nov. 4.	12. Officers of Ordnance to the Lord High Treasurer. Were not acquainted with any treaty but that of Portugal, whereby her Majesty furnished the King of Portugal yearly with 2,666 quintals of powder. Dated 4 Nov. 1712. Docquetted:—“Ordnance return ab^t stores to be charged to y^e acco^ts of foreign princes, &c.” Minuted:—“M^r Taylor to collect all the returnes of this kind.” Enclosed is copy of their letter of 30 Sept. 1712. 2 pages.
Nov. 6.	13. The same to the same, praying payment of 1,183l. 16s. 2d. for stores sent to the province of New York. Dated 6 Nov. 1712. Enclosed is an Order of Council about the same. Minuted:—“7 Nov. 1712. To be pd. out of the money for land service.” Again:—“Direct the Com^rs to certifie who is to acco^t for these stores. To the Com^rs for Trade.” 4 pages, quarto.
Nov. 7.	14. Report of the Com^rs [for Taxes] to the Lord High Treasurer on the affairs of M^r Longden, Receiver General of the county of Gloucester, against whom and his securities process had been issued. Dated 7 Nov. 1712. His case, an affidavit, and a certificate. Minuted:—“Read 7^th Nov. 1712.” 5 pages.
Nov. 7.	15. Com^rs of the Navy to M^r Secretary Lowndes. As to what officers were accountable for stores, the method of passing the accounts and how far they were behind in the same. Dated Navy Office, 7 Nov. 1712. Enclose a list of the persons accountable, instructions for the controller and storekeepers. 15 pages.
Nov. 7.	16. Copy of letter from Col. Kane to Lord Dartmouth. Writes in the absence of the Duke of Argyle, on the melancholy condition of the troops lying at Barcelona embarked for Minorca, they being about to sail without money and to be put on the island without magazines of provisions or money. The island would support them but for a very short time, and without credit the neighbouring coasts, being either at war with the Turks or the French, would not supply them. Dated Barcelona, Nov. 7/18, 1712. P.S.—Major Staremberg had prevailed on the Spanish merchants to advance 14,000 dollars to assist them. 3 pages.
Nov. 7.	17. Col. J. Dudley to the Lord High Treasurer, rectifying a mistake in his accounts. Dated Boston, 7 Nov. 1712. 1 page, quarto.
Nov. 8.	18. Report of the Com^rs for Taxes to the Lord High Treasurer as to assertions made by M^r Baylie, late Receiver General for the county of Stafford, that he had been misrepresented to his Lordship by them (the Com^rs) in respect to the debts owing by him. Dated 8 Nov. 1712. A previous report, two copies of reports of the same Com^rs, a petition from the same receiver, and a certificate on the subject of his debts. 8 pages, 2 halves.
Nov. 8.	19. Report of J. Brydges to the Lord High Treasurer on the petition of Captain Hartnoll, praying for an allowance for carrying 20,000 “moidas” of gold from Lisbon to Barcelona to the Deputy Paymaster. The usual allowance was ½ per cent. Dated Pay Office, Whitehall, 8 Nov. 1712. 1 page.
Nov. 8.	20. Memorial of the Marquis de Montandre to the Lord High Treasurer, praying payment of 711l. 3s. 4d. for the pay of the officers, &c. of the regiment. Dated 8 Nov. 1712. Computation of the pay due and certificate of M^r Pennyfather, the Commissary General for Ireland. 4 pages.
Nov. 10.	21. “An estimate of the charge of one livery for all the servants belonging to her Ma^ties stables to be made with all convenient speed.” “R. from M^r Darcey, Nov. 10, 1712.” Copy of letter from M^r Lowndes for the above to be prepared. 2 pages.
Nov. 11.	22. Report of J. Brydges to the Lord High Treasurer on the complaints of the Duke of Argyle against the Deputy Paymaster, M^r Hammond, in Spain, upholding the latter and justifying the payments made by him to Portugese troops. Copy of Treasury Minute of 22 Feb. 1710, copy of letter of Lord Dartmouth to the Duke of Argyle, and M^r Brydges's answers to the several articles in the Duke of Argyle's letter. Minuted:—“Read 11 Nov. 1712. Copy sent to the Duke.” 5 pages, 2 halves.

Nov. 11.	24. Memorial of the Treasurer of the Navy to the Lord High Treasurer praying payment of 70,817l. for the navy and victualling. Dated 11 Nov. 1712. 1 page.
Nov. 11.	25. “Bouer Lagarde” to the Lord [High Treasurer]. Prays payment of bills drawn by M^r Envoy Chetwynd. Dated London, 11 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“12 Nov. 1712. The drawers of the bills are the contractors and my Lord adheres to his Minute of 17 Oct. last, viz., My Lord says M^r Chetwynd's negotiations are under the examinac[i]on of the inspectors, and till he sees their finall report he cannot enter into the considerac[i]on of these bills.” 3 pages.
[? About Nov. 11.]	26. Memorial of Peirce Griffith, agent for sick and wounded at Port Mahon, to the L^d High Treasurer. Sends copy of his instructions for providing a hospital for sick and wounded seamen there, Sir John Jennings' order to contract for the same, [and the account of money advanced for the same for which he gave bills]. Minuted:—“11 Nov^r 1712. Comm^rs sick & w^d & M^r Griffith to be here on Fryday. 29 Nov^r 1712. To consider (now the business is at an end) w^t can be made of their utensills, and then w^t effects are in the Trea[su]rer Navy's hands, and wⁿ my Lord sees the returne he'l consider w^t may be done for this office.” 5½ pages.
Nov. 12.	27. Joseph Ormston to the Lord High Treasurer, complaining of George Sussingham, clerk in the Exchequer Court, who refused to deliver to him (Ormston) or M^r Borrett the writs for the recovery of Morgan Whitley's estate for the use of the Crown; praying for directions to be given thereon. Dated 12 Nov. 1712. 1 page, quarto.
Nov. 12.	28. Petition of William Burlton to the Lord High Treasurer, praying for a coastwaiter's place in the port of London. Minuted:—“12 Nov. 1712. To be given M^r Powys.” 1 page.
Nov. 12.	29. Com^rs of Ordnance to the Lord High Treasurer, as to the method and practice of paying salaries in the ordnance office on the death or dismissal of officers, up to the end of the current quarter in which they died. They would not take it upon themselves to determine who should receive the salary of the Master of the Ordnance and that of the secretary due in September last, being of opinion that the late Earl Rivers and his secretary had no right to receive the salary for March quarter, but that it belonged to the Duke of Marlborough and his secretary. Dated 12 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“26 Jan^ry 1712/1713. M^r Velley to have a copy and to state his demand in writing on behalf of Earle Rivers.” 2 pages.
Nov. 12.	30. Report of H. Bythell, deputy to M^r Auditor Maynwaring, to the Lord High Treasurer, on an abstract of payments made by the Hon. James Brydges, Esq., between 24 Dec. 1706 and 23 Dec. 1707, to the forces acting in conjunction with her Majesty's allies. Recommends privy seals to be granted for payment. Dated 12 Nov. 1712. List of the payments made for the service of the war in Holland. 6 pages.
Nov. 12.	31. Report of the same to the same on a draft of a privy seal concerning M^r Brydges's account for 1707. Was of opinion that it might safely pass. Dated 12 Nov. 1712. 1 page.
Nov. 13.	32. Report of the Com^rs of Customs to the Lord High Treasurer on the petition of several planters, inhabitants of, and merchants trading to Jamaica, complaining against the proceedings of M^r Beckford, collector there, under the Act 6 Anne for the encouragement of trade to America. Uphold him in the conduct of his duties and complain of the obstruction offered to him by M^r Norris, the naval officer. Advise prosecution unless the duties should be paid. Dated 13 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“Approved.” 3 pages.
Nov. 13.	33. Report of the Com^rs of Customs to the Lord High Treasurer about M^r Downing's allowance for approving the securities given by merchants for the duties upon goods imported. Dated 13 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“12 Nov^r 1712. My Lord will allow M^r Downing 200^li a year, and will continue to Sir John Shaw 200^li a year for the services menc[i]oned in the Com^rs' report concerning taking securities, &c.” Two other papers on the same subject. 3 pages, 2 halves.
Nov. 13.	34. An account of the “grants in Parliament for services under the care of James Brydges, Esq., payments thereupon, and the complements remaining.” Dated 13 Nov. 1712. 2 pages.

Nov. 14.	36. Auditor Harley's report to the Lord High Treasurer “on M^r Whitfeild's two memorials touching the marine off-reckonings to Christmas 1711, and the clearings of these forces to the time M^r Whitfeild's patent was superseded.” Dated 14 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“27 Nov. 1712. Both paymasters to be here on Tuesday, and S^r Roger Mostyn to see this report.” 5¼ pages.
Nov. 14.	37. Com^rs of Victualling to the secretaries of the Lord High Treasurer as to contracts for beer at Portsmouth, and as to the purchase of a brewhouse there. Dated 14 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“27 Nov. 1712. Read. The Comm^rs of Victualling to write for particulars of the premises offered to be sold.” 2 pages.
Nov. 14.	38. Memorial of William Sloper to the Lord High Treasurer “for 1,800^li for the Duke of Ormond to complete an allowance of 600^li a month for ext^ry charges as Cap^t Gen^ll of the Low Countries to the end of October 1712.” Dated 14 Nov. 1712. 1 page.
Nov. 15.	39. Copy of the Attorney-General's report to the Lord High Treasurer on the petition of Charles Bissell of Portsmouth, gent., praying payment of his disbursements about a prosecution of “the late pretended mayor, aldermen, and burgesses of Portsmouth.” Certifies his Lordship that on the 3^rd of February 1710 it was resolved by the House of Commons that Joseph Whitehorne, Esq., who was elected mayor of Portsmouth on the 10^th of Dec. 1709, had not duly qualified himself for that office by taking the sacrament, according to the rules of the Church of England, within one year next before his election, and was not legal mayor of the borough; nor were the aldermen legal aldermen, and the burgesses elected had no right to vote for members of Parliament. On trial and appeal they were ousted from those offices. 451l. 9s. 6d. of the charges of petitioner remained unpaid, beside other allowances. Recommends the petitioner for encouragement. Dated 15 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“2 July 1713. W^t for the 451. 9. 6. in full.” 2 pages.
Nov. 15.	40. Lord Shrewsbury to the Lord High Treasurer. There was due on 30 Oct. last to M^r Benjamin Bedford, upholsterer, 100l. for a quarter's rent of the house hired for Mons. Leith, the Czar of Muscovy's Minister, besides fees. Asking for an order to the Treasurer of the Chamber to pay the same. Dated Cockpit, 15 Nov. 1712. 1 page.
Nov. 16.	41. W. Whitfeild to [the Secretary of the Treasury ?] as to the off-reckonings and clearings of the six marine regiments. Most of the clothiers, officers, and soldiers were almost ruined. Dated 16 Nov. 1712. 1 page.
Nov. 17.	42. “Remaynes of this years fonds.” Dated 17 Nov. 1712. [Connected with army payments.] 1 page.
Nov. 18.	43. Officers of Ordnance to the Lord High Treasurer as to the payment for stores then being sent to New York. Dated 18 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“20^th Nov. 1712. Write to y^e Comm^rs for Trade hereupon.” 1 page.
Nov. 18.	44. Petition to John Rabateau, clothier to the regiment of the Marquis de Montandre, praying payment of 1,106l. 18s. 4d. Dated 18 Nov. 1712. Certificate for the above amount. Minuted:—“Ref. to y^e Compt^rs of ye Army Acc^ts.” 1½ pages.
Nov. 18.	45. An estimate of the charge of the civil government (so far as relates to England) for the year ensuing. Dated 18 Nov. 1712. 2 pages.
Nov. 19.	46. Report from the Comptroller's Office touching the assignments of the off-reckonings for clothing the several regiments of the army, and an abstract of the said assignments. Dated Privy Gardens, 19 Nov. 1712. 5 pages.
Nov. 19.	47. M^r Warters to Hon. W^m Lowndes, Esq., respecting M^r West's house to be added to the Admiralty Office. The assignment was ready, and awaited the purchase-money. Dated 19 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“27 Nov. 1712. M^r Lowndes to send to M^r Warters for the deeds & peruse them.” Again:—“L~re signed.” 2 pages.
Nov. 20.	48. Memorial of W. Wyndham to the Lord High Treasurer relating to the garrison of Gibraltar. Was of opinion that the Dutch regiment remaining there should be forthwith removed to make room for those going from Portugal. Major-General Pearce said of the town, that at the best it was but an indifferent town, and there was not above one house in twenty standing. Dated 20 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“L~re writ to the Ordnance.” 1 page.
Nov. 20.	49. Lord Dartmouth to the Lord High Treasurer. Sends copies of two letters, one from the Admiralty and the other from the Com^rs of Victualling, relating to the furnishing of the garrison of Gibraltar with provisions. Dated Whitehall, 20 Nov. 1712. 4 pages.
Nov. 20.	50. W. Wyndham to the Secretaries of the Treasury as to defraying the charge of the transportation of clothing of the regiments of Colonels Handasyde and Alexander in the West Indies. Dated Whitehall, 20 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“L~re writ to the Compt^rs.” 1 page, quarto.
Nov. 21.	51. Report of the Officers of Works to the Lord High Treasurer as to the annual charge for buildings and alterations at Somerset House. The house was not in their charge until 1707, after the decease of the Queen Dowager. Dated 21 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“2 X^br 1712. To let my Lord know by w^t warr^t & whether estimates were layd before the Trea[su]ry.” 1 page, decayed.
Nov. 22.	52. W. Wyndham to the Secretaries of the Treasury. Sends the draft of an establishment of half-pay for the officers of regiments disbanded since 22 Dec. last, except those named in the list annexed, which are to be disbanded at Gibraltar, Port Mahon, and in Ireland, &c. Dated Whitehall, 22 Nov. 1712. The list referred to. 3 pages.
Nov. 24.	53. Certificate of Auditor Godolphin to the Paymasters General of the Forces in Ireland, that George Howell, Esq., Receiver General of the land tax for Carmarthen, Cardigan, Pembroke, and Glamorgan, had made a payment for raising recruits. Dated 24 Nov. 1712. ½ page.
Nov. 24.	54. Order of Council on the report of the Attorney and Solicitor General upon an address of the House of Commons, wherein they prayed her Majesty to give directions for transferring to M^rs Anne Trant debentures amounting to 1,452l. and interest, in the hands of the Com^rs appointed to inquire how the debentures issued to Col. John Rice had been disposed of. Directing that the same should be forthwith transferred to M^rs Trant. Dated 24 Nov. 1712. Divers other papers relating to this matter. Minuted:—“W^t to be prepared for a privy seal.” 36 pages.
Nov. 25.	55. Com^rs of Trade and Plantations to the Lord High Treasurer. Had informed themselves of the Lustring Company, and of what sums they had received from the Crown towards their assistance, and how the same had been employed. The Company affirmed that his late Majesty promised them 2,400l. per ann. for seven years, and that they had only received one year's payment. Dated 25 Nov. 1712. The memorial and account enclosed. 4 pages.
Nov. 25.	56. W^m Borrett to Tho. Harley, Esq. Asking him to call for the papers respecting the case of the brewers under prosecution of the House of Commons, in order that an answer might be given to the House on the next meeting of Parliament. The Attorney General thought that the state of the cases should be sent to the Com^rs of Victualling, to examine and report what was due to the Crown. Dated 25 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“27 Nov. 1712. To Com^rs Vict. with the papers. A l~re writ.” 1 page.
Nov. 27.	57. Thomas Dummer, Deputy, (Great Wardrobe), to the Lord High Treasurer. The credit of the Great Wardrobe was so sunk that he could not get the necessaries for her Majesty's immediate service. The debt had been three years contracting, and only 2,500l. issued. Many things ordered were wholly unprovided, and he could get no person to undertake the liveries against her Majesty's birthday without money. Had exhausted all the money he himself had, and had run considerably into debt. Dated Great Wardrobe, 27 Nov. 1712. 1 page.
Nov. 27.	58. Memorial of the Com^rs for sick and wounded Seamen, &c. to the Lord High Treasurer, requesting payment of 12,561l. 6s. 1½d. on account of the service in foreign parts. Dated 27 Nov. 1712. 4½ pages.
Nov. 27.	59. Caleb Heathcote to the Lord High Treasurer touching the “pitch and tar design.” The “Palatines” had prepared about 70,000 trees, which they supposed would make 2,400 tons. It would be much more for her Majesty's advantage and that of the natives to have the tar and pitch contracted for there. The Crown might contract for any quantity they pleased, if the method answered as in the Baltic or Russia, there being several gentlemen who had large tracts of pine woods, who only waited to see the success of the experiment, when they intended to fall upon it. Dated New York, 27 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“24 Mar. 1712/1713. Scheme menc[i]oned with an extract of the l~re sent to Comm^rs Navy.” 2 pages, quarto.
Nov. 28.	60. Representation by the Com^rs for Taxes to the Lord High Treasurer as to the debt of Robert Peters, Receiver General for the county of Hertford, submitting to his Lordship whether any more of the public money should be allowed to come to his hands, and what should be done in respect to the 10,954l. now due. Dated Office for Hides, &c., 28 Nov. 1712. “29^th Nov^r 1712. He is to give satisfacc[i]on to the Com^rs by Thursday next, or else they are to use all lawfull means to secure & recover his debt to ye Queen.” 1 page.
Nov. 28.	61. Com^rs of the Navy to M^r Lowndes as to the paying off the ships, advising, to make the money go the farthest, that the ships that had the least time due should be paid off first, &c. Dated Navy Office, 28 Nov. 1712. Minuted:—“2 X^br 1712. Desire the Lords of y^e Adm^ty to send for a list.” 1 page.
Nov. 29.	62. Report of the Officers of Works to the Lord High Treasurer, stating that the clerks of the works of each of her Majesty's houses were accountable for all stores delivered, and each clerk monthly brought in his account of all goods and materials delivered into the stores, how and when delivered out, &c. Dated Whitehall, Office of Works, 29 Nov. 1712. 1 page.
Nov. 29.	63. Lord Ormonde to the Lord High Treasurer, asking that a warrant under the sign manual should be issued for placing the reduced officers (Ireland) on the establishment of half-pay, and sending a list of them. The regiments were Col. Creighton's, Col. Lucas's, and Sir John Whittewrong's. Dated London, 29 Nov. 1712. Computation of their half-pay. Minuted:—“25 Mar. 1713. W^t to be prepared for ½ pay according to the regulac[i]on in Ireland, including chaplains and adjutants, surgeons excluded.” Again:—“W^t signed.” 2 pages.
