Thomas Wyth, gent., and four others of the Colony of Virginia Lords of the Treasury. For a warrant to the Receiver of Customs of the Colony of Virginia for payment to them of 120l. for the apprehension of pirates.
Minuted:—“(1.) 1 May 1722. See out of what moneys the stated demands of apprehenders of pirates have been paid. (2.) These rewards being for pyrates convicted in Virginia, have been paid out of pyratical effects or other unappropriated revenues in Virginia, now in ye hands of the Admrs. of Jas. Roscow, decd., late Genl. there. (3.) Mr. Dalrymple the Casual Recr. at Berbadoes has also some pyratical effects in his hands. (4.) 19th do. Prepare a warrt. to pay this out of pyratical effects &c. in the hands of the said administrators.”

Peter Gally De Gaujac, Minister of the French Chapel at Wapping. Do. - For payment of his salary of 40l. per ann. for the last year of her late Majesty's reign. He was appointed to minister to a considerable number of her Majesty's subjects from Jersey, Guernsey, and other islands, who were settled at Wapping. He says, “it would be very hard for him to have preached a whole year for nothing, and paid nine pounds out of his own pocket for the rent of the chapel.”

A. Carleton - [Horatio Walpole.] Asks him to speak to his brother (the Chancellor) to grant him his petition for [60l. bounty]. The previous year he had received but 40l., when the Chancellor ordered him 50l.

The same Lords of the Treasury. Has been 23 years applying for his debt of 1,778l. for brass and iron goods. Money had been advanced to him for bounty. Is “a younger brother of a gent. family, bred to no trade, nor has any dependence but his wife's fortune.” He says he slipped his left shoulder, and by the unskilfulness of the surgeon his arm bone was 36 days out of the cup in the shoulder, but two other surgeons reduced it to its place with exquisite pain and torture. Prays that he may be ordered 60l. of H.M. bounty.
