24 The great battle between the Welsh and Norman forces on Cardiff Heath is supposed to have an echo in the names Nant Waedlyd (Bloody Brook) and Rhyd Waedlyd (Bloody Ford) which still remain in that locality. The word Waedlyd is there, however, commonly pronounced "Watla."
