Altham's Estate.

L. 1a. AN Act for the Sale of certain Lands and Tenements, in the Counties of Hertford and Middlesex, late Parcel of the Possessions of Sir James Altham the younger. Knight, deceased, to the Intent that the Money thereof coming, may be distributed among the Creditors of Sir James, according to his Direction and Appointment, both by his last Will and Testament, and also by his Deed of Bargain and Sale, acknowledged in his Majesty's High Court of Chancery.

Nevyll's Estates.

L. 1a. An Act for Assurance of a Jointure to Dame Francis, Wife of Sir Tho. Nevyll Knight, Son and Heir apparent of Sir H. Nevill Knight, Lord Aburgeny; and to enable the same Lord, and Sir Tho. to sell certain Lands, for Payment of their Debts, and Preferment of their younger Children.

Sir Tho. Hobby: - That the Answer to the King's Message is ready. - That, if it cannot be now, it may be in the Afternoon; and the House then to sit.

Message from the King - Exceptions to Members Words.

A Message from his Majesty, by Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer; first, concerning Mr. Cooke, and Mr. Dr. Turnor: Against Mr. Cooke, for some seditious Words used by him in the House; against Dr. Turnor, for his Propositions of the Six Articles against the Duke.

Mr. Cooke stood up, and explained himself; with a Protestation of his Freedom from any Intention to speak any thing tending to Sedition.

Ordered, upon Question, The House to take Consideration of this Message

To-morrow Morning, Nine Clock: and Mr. Cooke, and Dr. Turnor, then to attend.

That Mr. Cooke's Words, reported to his Majesty, were, "That it is better to die by an Enemy, than suffer at home;" or to that Effect.

Cloth Trade, &c.

Mr. Bankes reporteth the Bills concerning the Venting of dyed Cloths, and the Staplers Bill, now made general for all Merchants of England.

The first resolved by the Committee, and House, to sleep.

The second, now made general, reported, with Amendments ; which twice read, - Engrossetur.

Apothecaries.

Apothecaries Bill, - Thursday next, Two Clock, in the former Place.

Clergymen not to be Justices.

Sir H. Poole reporteth the Bill against ecclesiastical Persons being Justices of the Peace, with Amendments; which twice read. - Re-committed: - Friday next, Two Clock, in the Court of Wards.

War at Sea.

A Motion by Sir D. Digges, for a War at Sea, for Defence and Offence, by the voluntary joint Stock of Adventurers out of all Counties of England; to be encouraged by a settled Course in Parliament, and by Privileges to be granted to them, without much Prejudice to his Majesty's settled Revenue. -

This to be considered of against our next Meeting.

The Speaker left his Chair, and the grand Committee, about the Answer to the King's Message about Supply, sat.

Mr. Noy reporteth from the grand Committee, a Frame of an Answer to be returned to his Majesty by Mr. Speaker, and presenteth in the Form thereof in Writing: Which twice read, and, upon Question, una voce, agreed to be delivered to the King; and this to be done by Mr. Speaker.
