Privilege - Imprisonment of Members.

Mr. Vice-chamberlain : - Will speak to the Silence of the House; which he desireth may continue, till he have spoken. - Commendeth Mr. Pymme's Speech and Advice Yesterday, to do Things wisely and temperately, and not tumultuarily. Relateth a Passage of his at Sea; where touching first at upon One Sand, then upon another, at last they stuck fast. At length freed, by Advice, to look how we came on; and so by the same Compass going off, whereby they came in, they happily got off. - Our Compass lieth upon this Table : - To look to that. - Have touched before upon the Sand, never stuck fast till now. Thus come on by missing our Course. - Will lay no Imputation upon the House: Would not have particular Man's Errors affixed upon the House. -

Contrary by the Six, who used fair Words. -

The Cause of this, an high Offence taken by the King, at certain Words spoken, as affirmed. - That speaking of the Plaister, he said, "he would therein spare the Honour of the King." - This depends upon the Point of true, or false Information.

In the Epilogue. - Never heard the like in Parliament: Hath heard the like, when a Criminal, indicted, or accused, at a Bar. - He spake much against the Sense of the House. Speaking of the Re-delivery of our Ships, he said, "They say, they are re-delivered; but I know it not:" Which he spake, as in the Person of the House; where he was informed in the House, and privately told, they were come home.

That in his Speech about the Plaister, he intimated, that aliquid latet, quod non patet; contrary to Sir D. Digges his Affirmation in the House.

These the Two Points, whereat his Majesty taketh Offence. - Speaketh not this by Commandment, but as getting Knowledge of it, by his Attendance upon his Majesty. -

The Remedy, to sink, or swim, with these, if these have not,exceeded their Charge; else cut them off, and let us go on. -

Our Ship like to be beaten with a terrible Tempest from Abroad. -

That the King will never take new Counsels, whilst we do that here, which is dignum nobis. The like Parliaments, as ours, in other Countries ; yet all abandoned, but here: And the Difference between their Commons, and our, exceeding great. -

Moveth, a grand Committee, to consider of the best Remedy for this Strait, wherein we now are.

1. Upon Question, this House not to proceed in any other Business, until we are righted in our Liberties.

2ly, Upon Question, a grand Committee of the whole House presently to sit, to consider of the best Way and Means for effecting this.

3ly, Ordered, That at this Committee none shall go out, without first asking Leave.

Mr. Speaker taking his Chair; Ordered, The Clerk shall attend the Sub-committee, now appointed to sit this Afternoon about the Remonstrance.
