Prayers.

Building Ships.

SIR Mathew Andrewes reported from the Committee, to whom the Bill for building good and desensible Ships was committed, That they had made several Amendments to the Bill; which they had directed him to report the House; and which he read in his Place, with the Coherence; and afterwards delivered in at the Clerk's Table: Where the same were once read throughout; and then a Second time, one by one; and, upon the Question severally put thereupon, agreed unto by the House.

Ordered, That the Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Prize Claim.

A Petition of Arthur Cope, Joseph Smith, Thomas Elliot, James Smith, Thomas Burd, and Hugh Jenkins, on behalf of themselves, and others belonging to their Majesties Ship the Dover, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That the Petitioners have faithfully served the Crown; and during the present War, the said Ship Dover hath taken several Prizes mentioned in a Schedule annexed to the Petition, amounting to a very considerable Value; which the Petitioners are wholly wronged of by their Commanders, notwithstanding an Act of Parliament to the contrary: And praying, That the House will take such Care, that the Petitioners may not be defeated by their Commanders of their proper Rights.

Resolved, That the Examination and Consideration of the said Petition be referred to a Committee: And that they do report the Matter, with their Opinion therein, to the House:

Encouraging Privateers.

Ordered, That the Report from the Committee, to whom the Bill for the Encouragement of Privateers was committed, be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning.

Privilege.

Ordered, That the Examination and Consideration of the Complaint made the Fifth Instant, of the Breach of Privilege committed against Sir Henry Johnson, a Member of this House, be referred to the Committee of Privileges and Elections: And that they do hear the Matter thereof upon Thursday next, in the Afternoon: And that they do report the same, with their opinion therein, to the House.

Halfpence and Farthings.

Ordered, That the Committee, to whom the several Petitions, which have been presented to the House, complaining of the Halfpence and Farthings which are now current, are referred, do meet and sit To-morrow in the Afternoon: And that the Members that serve for the Cities of London and Westminster, and County of Middlesex, and Mr. Christy, be added to the said Committee.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. Kendall have Leave to go into the Country, upon extraordinary Occasions.

Tonage Duties, &c. [Bank of England incorporated.]

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the Bill for granting to their Majesties certain Duties upon Wines, and upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors; and also the Bill for granting to their Majesties several Duties upon the Tonage of Ships.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.
Sir Thomas Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.
Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had made a further Progress in the Matters to them referred; and had directed him to move, That they may have Leave to sit again.

Resolved, That this House will, To-morrow Morning, after the Consideration of the Bill for taking and stating the public Accounts is over, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the said Bills.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
