Octavo Gulielmi Tertii.

Prayers.

Warrant for committing a Member.

ORDERED, That Mr. Speaker do issue his Warrant to the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, to take into his Custody the Body of John Manley, Esquire, Yesterday resolved to be committed to the Tower, and him to deliver into the Hands of the Lieutenant of his Majesty's Tower of London, to be there kept in safe Custody, during the Pleasure of this House; and also to the Lieutenant of the Tower, to receive and keep him accordingly.

New Monies issued.

The House being informed, That Mr. Twitty, from the Officers of the Exchequer, attended, according to Order;

He was called in; and presented an Account of what new Monies have been brought thither from the Tower, and how the same was issued out, and to whom, and for what Purposes.

And then withdrew.

Ordered, That the said Account do lie upon the Table, to be perused by the Members of the House.

Committees.

Ordered, That all Committees be revived.

Members summoned.

Ordered, That the Serjeant do go, with the Mace, into Westminster-hall, and Courts there, and the Court of Requests, and summon the Members there to attend the Service of the House.

And he went accordingly.

And, being returned, with the Mace;

Inquiry concerning the Fleet.

The House was informed, That Sir George Rooke attended, according to Order:

And he was called in, to give an Account, why the French Thoulon Squadron was not intercepted in going into Brest:

And he was examined in relation thereunto.

And then withdrew.

Ordered, That Sir George Rooke do, upon Thursday Sevennight, lay before this House Copies of all Orders by him received from the Beginning of January last, to the time he left the Fleet.

Ordered, That Sir George Rook do then also lay before this House a Copy of his Journal within the time aforesaid.

Ordered, That Sir George Rook do then also lay before this House Copies of all Letters sent by him within the time aforesaid.

Ordered, That Sir Cloudesly Shovell do, in his Place, attend this House, upon Thursday Sevennight.

Coinage.

A Petition of the Inhabitants of the Borough and Parish of Westbury, in the County of Wilts, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That, by reason of the Scarcity of the Coin, and the extraordinary Rebate on Bank-Notes, Clothiers receiving few Payments in any thing else, the greatest Part of the Trade and Credit in the Woollen Manufactory is already sunk, and in Danger of Ruin; and the Poor much increased thereby: And praying Relief in the Premises.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee of the whole House, who are to consider the State of the Nation.

Counsel allowed to Fenwick.

Mr. Speaker acquainted the House, That he had, in the Chair, received a Letter from Sir John Fenwick which was read: Whereby he humbly prayed, That the House would give Leave for his Counsel, Sir Francis Pemberton, Sir Thomas Powis, and Sir Bartholomew Shoar, to come to him, with his Solicitor Christopher Dighton, to advise with him alone.

Ordered, That Sir Francis Pemberton, Sir Thomas Powis, and Sir Burtholomew Shoar; have Leave to attend Sir John Fenwick, and advise him as Counsel.

Ordered, That Mr. Christopher Dighton be allowed to Sir John Fenwick for his Solicitor.

Ordered, That Sir John Fenwick have Liberty to advise with his Counsel and Solicitor alone.

Ordered, That the Serjeant at Arms attending this House do acquaint Sir John Fenwick with the said Orders.

Credit of the Nation.

The House, according to the Order of the Day, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider of that Part of his Majesty's Speech, which relates to the Credit of the Nation.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had made some Progress in the Matter to them referred; and had directed him to move, That they may have Leave to sit again.

Resolved, That this House will, To-morrow Morning, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of that Part of his Majesty's Speech, which relates to the Credit of the Nation.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
