Prayers.

Backwell's Creditors.

MR. Harcourt reported from the Committee, to whom the ingrossed Bill, from the Lords intituled, An Act for the Relief of the Creditors of Edward Backwell Esquire, deceased, was committed, That they had examined and considered the same; and directed him to report the same to the House, without any Amendment: And he delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table.

And the Bill was read the Third time.

Resolved, That the Bill do pass.

Ordered, That Mr. Harcourt do carry the Bill to the Lords, and acquaint them, That this House hath agreed to the same, without any Amendment.

Trafford's Estate.

A Bill for enabling Humphrey Trafford Esquire to raise the Sum of 4,000l. upon his Estate, for Payment of his Debts, was, according to Order, read a Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Mr. Brotherton, Colonel Lee, Mr. Maudet, Mr. Gerrard, Mr. Mounstevens, Sir Tho. Roberts, Sir Marm. Wyvall, Mr. Hedger, Sir Wm. Lowther, Mr. Baldwyn, Mr. Lowther, Mr. Duke, Mr. Battescomb, Sir Tho. Day, Mr. Blofeild, Mr. Frewen, Sir Fra. Winnington, Mr. Cloberry, Mr. Foley, Sir Cha. Windham, Mr. Pocklington, Sir Jervas Elwes, Mr. Gery, Mr. Whitaker, Mr. Harley, Mr. Osborne, Mr. Croker, Sir John Turner, Mr. Mountague, Sir Robert Cotton, Mr. Harcourt, Colonel Colt, Mr. Coniers, Sir Wm. Ashurst, Mr. Hoare, Mr. Cooper, Mr. Heveningham, Sir Fran. Massam, Mr. Manley, Mr. Bartie, Sir Joseph Tyly; and all that serve for the Counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire: And they are to meet this Afternoon in the Speaker's Chamber, at Five of the Clock.

Duties on Low Wines.

Mr. Clark, according to Order, presented to the House a Bill to prevent the Frauds and Abuses of Distillers, and others chargeable with the Duties upon low Wines, and Spirits: And the same was received.

The Bill was read the First time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Aulnage Office.

A Petition of the Clothiers in and about the several Towns of Hallifax, Bradford, Huthersfeild, Kighley, Heptonstall, Elland, and several other Towns, Villages, and Hamlets, within the West Riding of the County of York, was presented to the House, and read; setting forth, That by ancient Statutes, an Office of Aulnage was erected, for the Searching and Measuring of Cloth; and a Seal put thereon, to signify the Goodness thereof: That the Subsidy of Aulnage was granted in Consideration of releasing Forfeitures, which were grievous to the Dealers in Cloth: That the Office of Aulnage is unnecessary; the Subsidy chargeable in collecting burthensome to the Subject, and an Hindrance to the Trade of the Woollen Manufacture: That a Bill hath formerly passed this House, and . . . . . . carried up to the Lords, for redressing the said Grievance; but had not its desired Effect: And praying Relief in the Premises.

Ordered, That the Petition do lie upon the Table.

Accommodation of the House at Impeachments.

Ordered, That a Message be sent to the Lords, to desire, That a convenient Place may be appointed for the Managers of the Impeachment against John Goudet, and others, as is usual: And that Sir Rowland Gwyn do carry the said Message.

Estates given to superstitious Uses.

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill to vest the Estates given to superstitious Uses in Greenwich Hospital, for the Maintenance of Seamen, and other charitable Uses: And that Mr. Edward Harley do prepare, and bring in, the Bill.

Supply Bill; Tonage and Poundage.

Mr. Lowndes, according to Order, presented to the House a Bill for granting to his Majesty a further Subsidy of Tonage and Poundage, towards raising the yearly Sum of 700,000l. for the Service of his Majesty's Houshold, and other Uses therein mentioned, during his Majesty's Life: And the same was received.

The Bill was read the First Time.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Supply Bill; Duties on Salt.

Building Ships.

The House, according to Order, resolved itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the Bill for granting to his Majesty, his Heirs and Successors, several Duties on Salt; to whom also was committed the Bill for applying to the Use of his Majesty's Navy and Ordnance, the Overplus of the Money and Stores, which were provided for the Seven-and-twenty Ships of War.

Mr. Speaker left the Chair.

Sir Tho. Littleton took the Chair of the Committee.

Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair.

Sir Thomas Littleton reported from the said Committee, That they had gone through the Bill for applying to the Use of his Majesty's Navy and Ordnance, the Overplus of the Money and Stores, which were provided for the Seven-and-twenty Ships of War; and made an Amendment thereunto; which they had directed him to report, when the House will please to receive the same.

Ordered, That the Report be made To-morrow Morning.

Sir Thomas Littleton also reported from the said Committee, That they had made a further Progress in the Bill for granting to his Majesty, his Heirs and Successors, several additional Duties on Salt; and had directed him to move, That they may have Leave to sit again.

Resolved, That this House will, upon Friday Morning next, resolve itself into a Committee of the whole House, to consider further of the said Bill.

Ordered, That all Committees be revived.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Nine a Clock.
