PRAYERS.

Henley's Pistols.

ORDERED, That Mr. Henley's Pistols, stayed at Staines, be forthwith released.

Recusants Arms, &c.

Ordered, That this Information concerning Monies and Arms in some Recusants Houses, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for the Defence of the Kingdom; and that the Informants do repair thither, to give their Information.

White-chappel Committee.

Ordered, That the Committee for White-chappel do sit this Afternoon, in the Exchequer Court.

Capt. Kettleby, &c.

A Letter of the 15th of August, from Bristoll, making Relation of some suspicious Passages of Captain Kettleby, and Sir H Stradling, was this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That it be carried up to the Lords; and that they be desired, that the Earl of Warwick may be written unto, to command the said Captains to come in and yield to his Commands; and if they shall refuse, to enforce them.

Pinner Lecturer.

The humble Petition of the Inhabitants of Pinner in the County of Middlesex; setting forth, That whereas this House did formerly recommend Mr. Philip Goodwyn to be Lecturer there, to preach every Sunday in the Afternoon; that the Curate, to elude this Order, does expound every Afternoon, till Six of Clock:

It is Ordered, That Mr. Goodwyn do preach every Sunday in the Afternoon, in the said Parish Church of Pinner; and that he begin his Sermon at Three of Clock in the Afternoon: And that Mr. Willis, the Curate of the said Parish, do permit him quietly to exercise his Ministry there at the said Time, without any Interruption or Hindrance.

Proceedings at Portsmouth.

Ordered, That the Letter now read, concerning the Proceedings at Portsmouth, shall be forthwith printed.

Delinquents in Soap Business.

Ordered, That Mr. Pury do report To-morrow Morning, the Impeachment against the Delinquents in the Soap Business.

Ordered, That the Serjeant do summon all those that are Bail for any that are Delinquents in the Soap Business, to bring their Persons in.

Order for Bristoll.

Ordered, The like Order be made for Bristoll as was for Shrousbury.

Bristoll Militia, &c.

Ordered, That Mr. Hollis do put in Execution the Ordinance for Militia in Bristoll; and appoint a Captain over the Volunteers.

Recommending Sellinger.

Ordered, That Mr. Sellinger be recommended to the Lord of Kerry, to be his Lieutenant Colonel; and that the Lords be moved to join herein.

Instructions. for E. of Pembroke, &c.

The Instructions for the Earl of Pembroke, &c. were read; and, upon the Question, assented unto, with the Amendments.

King's Proclamation, &c. from Yorke.

Ordered, That the Letter now read, from divers of the County of Yorke, and their Propositions, and the Proclamation of his Majesty, Setting up of his Standard, and the Petition of divers of the Nobility and Gentry of the County of Yorke, many of them Members of both Houses, shall be referred to a select Committee; and that the Lords be moved to join therein: And Mr. Nicholls is to desire a Conference concerning these Particulars, and for the Drawing of a Declaration against the said Proclamation.

Naval Affairs.

WHEREAS, upon credible Information, Captain Ketlesby and Sir Henry Stradling, Commanders of Two of his Majesty's Ships, the Bonaventure and the Swallowe, formerly appointed to guard the Coasts of Ireland, have lately deserted that Charge; whereby they have exposed his Majesty's good Subjects in that Kingdom to much Danger in these Times of Rebellion; It is Ordered, by the Lords and Commons, in Parliament assembled, That the Earl of Warwicke do forthwith take an Account of the said Captain Ketlesby and Sir Henry Stradling, why they have deserted their former Charge; and that his Lordship do dispose of the said Ships, as in his Wisdom he shall think fit, for the Safety and Defence of this Kingdom: And, in case the said Commanders do make Resistance, or refuse to obey his Lordship's Commands, that he use all Means to compel them thereunto.

Ordered, That the Committee for Sir H. Bruce be referred to the Committee for Informations.

Moore's Ordnance.

Ordered, That the Four Pieces of Ordnance supposed to be lent, in the Absence of Mr. Moore, a Member of this House, to the Lady Strange, her Servants or Agents, from the Dwelling-house of the said Mr. Moore, being his proper Goods, and lent without his Privity or Consent, shall be restored to the said Mr. Moore.

Instructions for Warwickshire, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee of this House for the Defence of the Kingdom, shall have Power to put in the Names of such Lord and Deputy Lieutenants to execute the Instructions of Warwickshire, &c. as they shall think fit; and to move the Lords to join herein.

Sir Rob. Harley went up herewith; and to desire the Commissioners of Ireland be made a Committee.

King's Printer.

Ordered, That the King's Printer * * * *

Watches at Bridges in Norfolke, &c.

Ordered, That Mr. Corbett, Mr. Reynolds, and Mr. Hinningham, do draw an Order for the Setting of strict Watches at the several Bridges between Norfolke and Suffolke, to be looked unto by Sir Jo. Potts and Sir Ed. Hungerford.

Defence of Southwarke.

Ordered, by the and Commons, That Houses for Courts of Guard, and Posts, Bars, and Chains, be forthwith erected, and set up, in such Places of the Borough of Southwarke, as shall be thought necessary and convenient for the Defence and Safe-guarding of the said Borough; and that a competent Number of the Train-Band, and Companies of Volunteers, in and belonging to the said Borough, shall, Day and Night, attend with their Arms, in or near the said Courts of Guard: Who shall have Power and Authority hereby to apprehend, seize and arrest all suspicious Persons, Ammunition, and Arms, passing through the said Borough, or any Part thereof, until either of the said Houses of Parliament be made acquainted therewith, and their Pleasure be further known concerning the same: And the Captains and Officers of the said Trained Bands and Volunteers, and the Persons herein under-named, are required to take Care, that the Premises be carefully performed accordingly.

Stamp, a Delinquent.

Mr. Corbett reports the Business of Stepney, concerning Mr. Stamp, a Justice of Peace.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Stamp shall be forthwith sent for, as a Delinquent.

Answer from Lords.

Sir Rob. Harley reports, That the Lords agree to the Power of the Committee for inserting Names to the Instructions: And as to the other Part of the Message, will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

The Question being put, Whether Sir Wm. Uvedall should be summoned to attend this House, this Day Fortnight, to make his Account;

Knaresbury Election.

Mr. Corbett reports the Business concerning the Election of Knaresbury.

Resolved, upon the Question, * * * *

Not to print King's Proclamations, &c.

Ordered, That the King's Printer, and all other Printers, shall be injoined not to print these Proclamations; 1. A Proclamation concerning the present Rebellion; 2. A Proclamation requiring the Aid and Assitance of all his Subjects on the North Side of Trent, and within Twenty Miles Southward thereof, for the Suppressing the Rebels now marching against us; and his Majesty's Message to the House of Commons, dated the 13th of August 1642; and likewise the Declaration of the Lords and Commons, with his Majesty's Answer to that Declaration, now brought from his Majesty by Warrant to be printed.

Proceedings concerning Bassett, &c.

Ordered, upon the humble Petitions of John Bassett of Lymehowse, and Rachael Palisher, both committed to the New Prison by Justice Stampe, that this Business be referred to Mr. Long, One of his Majesty's Justices of Peace for the County of Middlesex; to hear the Matter of their Offences; and to take reasonable Bail of them, if they be bailable by Law, to make their Appearance before the House of Commons, when they shall be required to answer their said Offences.

Staying Trunks, &c.

Ordered, That the Committee for Informations shall have Power to receive Examinations concerning the Staying of Trunks, Arms, Money, and Plate; and to give Order for Discharge of any of them, as they shall think fit; and to call before them the Parties that attached them before any Order for Discharge of them; and to report to the House what they hold not fit to be discharged: And Sir Rob. Harley, Sir Edw. Hales, Sir Hen. Heyman, Mr. White, Mr. Oldsworth, Sir Wm. Strictland, Mr. Darley, Sir Rob. Pye, Mr. Blackeston, are added to that Committee.

Licence to Adams.

Ordered, That Mr. Adams shall have Licence to go beyond Seas.

Soldiers pillaging Houses.

Ordered, That Mr. Reynolds do carry a Message to the Lord General, to desire him to take Care, that some exemplary Punishment be inflicted on the Soldiers that do pillage the Houses of divers of the King's Subjects in and about London; and to prevent it for the Time to come; and to punish those that have pillaged Houses at Branford, Hammersmith, Barnett, Acton, and Stepney.

Ditto.

Ordered, That the Deputy Lieutenants for Essex, Members of this House, do write a Letter to the Justices of Peace of the County of Essex, to punish such as have or shall pillage any House of any Inhabitant in that County.

Knaresborough Election.

Resolved, &c. That the Election of Sir Wm. Constable, to serve for a Burgess in this Parliament for the Town of Knaresborough, is a good Election; and that he ought to sit as a Member: And that the then Sheriff be required to amend the Indenture of Return.

Member to be summoned.

Ordered, That Sir Alexander Denton be summoned forthwith to attend the Service of the House.
