PRAYERS.

Murrey's Pass.

UPON the humble Petition of Geo. Murrey, One of the King's Coachmen;

It is Ordered, That he shall have Mr. Speaker's Warrant, for his Pass to the King's Army without Lett or Interruption.

Recompence to Rushworth.

Ordered, That the Account of the Charges that Mr. Rushworth has been at, in several Journies, for the Service of the Parliament, since the Time he received his last Monies; and likewise the Consideration of a Recompence and Reward to be allowed him for his Pains and Service be referred to the Committee for Subscriptions, where Mr. Trenchard has the Chair.

Intercepted Letters.

Two Letters, of the Eighth of December, One from Mr. Secretary Niclas, and another from Prince Rupert to Sir Arth. Aston, Governor of Reading, intercepted by One of my Lord of Essex his Scouts, were this Day read: And

It is Resolved, upon the Question, That the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom do give Orders to the Treasurer at Wars, to pay unto Mr. Strode Forty Pounds, to be bestowed as a Reward upon the Scout that intercepted these Letters.

Protections.

Ordered, That no Protection shall be granted, but by Order of the House, by any Committee of the House.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for Dispatches to inquire after what Protections have been granted to Malignants, or other Persons, by the Committee for the Safety of the Kingdom.

Apprehending Drummers.

Ordered, That the Drummers in Somersettshire, that beat up Drums for Volunteers in that County, be apprehended and sent up hither.

Order against Plunder.

.. Whitlock, .. Corbett, .. Pelham, .. Strickland, .. Hill, .. Pierrepointe, .. Holles, .. Wentworth.

This Committee, or any Three of them, are appointed to draw up a Declaratory Order, that no Soldiers do plunder any of the King's Subjects: And that this Order may be sent to the Lord General: And that it may be published in the Head of the Army, to all the Officers of the Army.

Protection to Ly. Arandale.

Resolved, That a Protection shall be granted to the Lady Arandale, to preserve her from plundering.

Norfolk, &c. Association.

The Association of the Counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Herts, Cambridge, and Isle of Elye, was this Day read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent to the Lords, for their Concurrence, by Sir Tho. Barrington.

Payments to Irish Claimants.

Mr. Goodwyn reported, from the Committee for the Affairs of Ireland, these several Orders; viz. One for Three hundred and Eighteen Pounds Four Shillings to Mr. Wollaston, for Wheat and Herrings; To Mr. Casteel, &c. One thousand Six hundred and Fifty Pounds, for Corn; To the Bishop of Raphoe One hundred Pounds Contribution Money; To Mr. Beard One thousand Five hundred Pounds Eight Shillings, for Wheat; To Lock and Clymer for Fish, Five hundred and Forty-eight Pounds Ten Shillings; To Jones the Ship Master, One hundred and Twenty Pounds, for Transport of Commodities; To Crone Two hundred and Four Pounds, for Wheat; To Philips Fifty-seven Pounds Fifteen Shillings, for Victuals: The which were all read; and, by Vote upon the Question, assented unto; and ordered to be sent unto the Lords for their Concurrence.

Fortifying Yermouth.

Ordered, That the Town of Yermouth shall have Authority to fortify itself, in such Manner as they shall be advised by Men skilful: And that, towards this Fortification, they shall have a Thousand Pounds of the Contribution Monies gathered in that Town; and a Thousand Pounds out of the Contribution Monies of the County hereafter: And that it be referred to Mr. Corbett, to draw up an Order according to these Propositions.

Inland Letter Office.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir Robert Riche and Mr. Page;

The Lords have received this Letter this Morning: It concerns the Inland Letter Office: They thought it fit to communicate it to this House.

Answer returned by the same Messengers; That this House has considered their Lordships Message; and will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Officers Petitions to the King, &c.

The Copy of a Petition, presented by Sir James Montgommery, Sir Hardes Waller, and other Colonels of the Army in the Kingdom of Ireland, and his Majesty's Answer thereunto; and their Conceptions upon the Result of this Petition to his Majesty, and his Majesty's Answer thereunto; and likewise a Petition from the said Colonels to this House; were this Day read: And

It is Ordered, That the whole Proceedings and Steps of this Business be referred unto the Consideration of Mr. Marten, Mr. Whitlock, Mr. Jo. Goodwyn, Sir H. Vaine, Mr. Holles, Mr. Pierrepointe, Mr. Glyn, Lord Dungarvan, Mr. Pym, Mr. Strode, Sir Wm. Armyn, Sir Robert Parkhurst, Mr. Ashe, Mr. Waller, Mr. Bond, Sir Wm. Strickland, Sir Tho. Barrington, Sir Ben. Rudyard, Sir H. Vane junior, Sir Peter Wentworth, Lord Wenman: And are to meet on Monday post meridiem, at Three of Clock, in the Exchequer Chamber: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, Papers, &c. And the Examination of the Bishop or Raphoe, concerning this Business is referred to this Committee.

Affairs at Dartmouth.

A Letter from the Town of Dartmouth to Mr. Speaker, of the Fifth of December, expressing the Fears that Town apprehends of Sir Ralph Hopton's Forces; and likewise containing some Desires for their Relief; was this Day read.

Affairs at Exeter.

The humble Petition of the Mayor, Deputy Lieutenants and Captains, of the City of Exon, representing their Extremities and Fears, and containing their Desires of Aid, was this Day read; and referred to the Consideration of the Gentlemen of Devon, that serve in this House.

Support of Ireland.

Ordered, That on Wednesday next, peremptorily, the House take into Consideration the Support of Ireland.

Dep. Lieuts. of Norwich.

Resolved, upon the Question, That this House doth nominate and approve of Sir John Hobart, Sir Tho. Richardson, Sir Tho. Woodhowse, Sir Jo. Holland, Sir Jo. Potts, Sir Jo. Palgrave, Samuel Smyth, to be Deputy Lieutenants for the City and County of the City of Norwich.

Persons affronting Committees.

Resolved, upon the Question, That Sir Jo. Spilman Knight, Sir Wm. Doyly, Captain Crane, and Hamond Lestrange, Esquire, and Francis Cory of the County of Norfolke, be forthwith sent for, as Delinquents, for affronting the Committees, when they were met upon the Service of the Parliament; and thereby, as much.. in them lay, obstructing and prejudicing the Service of the Commonwealth.

Nominating Sheriffs.

The Declaration, concerning the present Nominating of Sheriffs, in the Manner they are now nominated, and not in the Manner injoined by several Statutes was read; and re-committed unto Mr. Solicitor, Mr. Glyn, Mr. Browne, Mr. Whittlock, Mr. Hill, &c. * * * *.

Privilege-Apprehending Draper, &c.

Resolved, upon * *, That Captain Draper and Cornet Dingley shall be forthwith sent for, as Delinquents, for not only disobeying the Orders of the House, but throwing Contempts and Scorns upon the House, and Mr. Speaker: And that some Officers of the Train Bands, that guard the House, do send some Half-a-score of their Soldiers with the Messenger, for the Apprehending of them.

St. Martin's in the Fields Petition.

Ordered, That the humble Petition of divers of the Inhabitants of the Parish of St. Martin's in the Fields, this Day read in the House, be referred to the Consideration of the Committee for St. Martin's in the Fields.

Commissaries of Musters, &c.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for the Militia in London, to present the Names of some fitting Persons to this House, that may be recommended to the Lord General, to be Commissaries, Assistant to the Muster Master General, at the Musters: And it is referred to the same Committee, to inquire what particular Abuses have been made in Musters.

Sir Tho. Soame, Mr. Spurstoe, are appointed to deliver this Order to the Committee for the Militia.

Prisoner discharged.

Resolved, upon the Question, That * * my Lord Goring's Man, who brought Letters from Holland, which were intercepted, and the Messenger restrained, till he could be examined, be forthwith discharged.
