PRAYERS.

Whepsted Parsonage.

AN Ordinance for taking off the Sequestration of the Parsonage of Whepsted in the County of Suffolk, formerly sequestered by Order, bearing Date 23 Januarii 1642, for the Delinquency and Absence of Edmond Hynd, the present Parson: The which Edward Hynde hath since freely and absolutely resigned the said Living of Whepsted to Elizabeth Countess Dowager of Exeter, the Patroness thereof; who hath presented thereunto her Houshold Chaplain Ambrose Salisbury, Master of Arts, a godly and learned Divine: The Lords and Commons do Order, That the said Ordinance of Sequestration, and all, and every Power and Authority thereby given and deputed, shall, by these Presents, be repealed, made void, and null: And that the said Ambrose Hinde shall enjoy the said Parsonage, with all the Profits, &c.

Governor of Leicester Hospital.

Whereas John Meredeth, Doctor in Divinity, was, for divers Misdemeanors, &c. sequestered from the Church of Stamford Rivers in Essex, by Judgment of the House of Peers, 6 Maii, 1643, notwithstanding since he is preferred to be Governor of the Hospital of Leicester; It is Ordered, That he be forthwith sequestered from being Governor of the said Hospital: And that Job Grey Clerk shall supply the Government of the said Hospital; and shall have for his Pains all Houses, Lodgings, Rents, Revenues, and Benefits whatsoever belonging thereunto, until further Order be taken by this House.

Eaton College.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee of plundered Ministers, to consider of fit and able Men to fill up the Places of such Fellows of Eaton College as have deserted their Places, and have adhered to the Forces raised against the Parliament; and to prepare and bring in Ordinances for filling up the said Places accordingly.

Higgon's Troop.

Resolved, &c. That the Troop of Captain Higgons shall be at the Disposal of Sir Wm. Waller and the Committee in the County of Sussex, as other Troops of the Association are.

Goods seized.

Ordered, That all such Goods as were found and seized in Cowdry House, be forthwith brought up to London, according to former Order.

Money for Army.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for the West, to consider of some Course, how the Eleven hundred Pounds, of the Four hundred thousand Pound Bill, paid over to Sir Wm. Waller, may be repaid; and the Five hundred Pounds, of the said Four hundred thousand Pounds, remaining in the Hands of the Treasurers of Sequestrations, paid over to the Treasurers of the Four hundred thousand Pound Bill, and made good to Sir Wm. Waller, out of some other Monies; and Mr. Trenchard saved harmless: And they are to meet, upon this Business, this Afternoon.

Timber for Navy.

An Ordinance for felling of Timber-trees, in the Woods of Delinquents, for the Service of his Majesty's Navy Royal; was this Day read the Third time; and re-committed unto Mr. Green, Sir Tho. Walsingham, Sir Peter Wroth, and Mr. Lisle.

Adjournment.

Resolved, &c. That this House, from the Rising Today, shall adjourn till Saturday next, in regard of the Necessity of expediting the Forces, according to the Resolutions of both Houses.

Army.

Ordered, That the Committee of this House for the weekly Meal, or any Five of them, do, from time to time, confer with the Committee of the Militia, about the speedy raising and sending-forth of Forces against the Day of Rendezvous; and to call Sub Committees, and such Persons before them, and advise with such Persons, as they shall think fit; and to consider of all Ways and Means, that may advance this Work: And Mr. Ellis, Sir Henry Mildmay, and Sir Thomas Barrington, is to take care of this Order: And they are to confer with the Militia, for the speediest Way of recruiting my Lord General's Army.

Office of Diem clausit extremum.

Mr. Recorder, Mr. Browne, Mr. Whitlock, Serjeant Wilde, Mr. Prideaux, and Mr. Reynolds;

This Committee is to consider of the Ordinance, sent from the Lords, concerning the Office of Diem clausit extremum; and to peruse the Statutes concerning that Office; and to report their Opinions on Saturday next; and to meet when and where they please.

Court of Wards.

Ordered, That Mr. White do bring in the Ordinance, for the taking away the Court of Wards, on Saturday next.

Regulating Forces.

Ordered, That the Ordinance, for regulating the Forces, in the Seven associated Counties, be read the First Business on Saturday next.

And it is referred to this Committee particularly, to consider of raising of Monies for the Garisons of Aylisbury and Windsore; and for enabling those Forces to march.

Forces in Ireland.

Ordered, That, on Saturday Morning next, the House do take into Consideration the providing of Eight thousand Pounds, monthly, for the Brittish and Scottish Forces in Ireland.

Message to Lords.

Sir Robert Pye is appointed to go to the Lords, to desire a Conference, by Committee of both Houses, so soon as may stand with their Lordships Conveniency, concerning the Scotts and Brittish Forces in Ireland; concerning some Relations concerning Pembrokshire: Carried up the Order for a new Seal to be made for the County Palatine belonging to the Duchy of Lancaster: And was to acquaint them, that this House has resolved to adjourn till Saturday next.

Answer.

Sir Robert Pye brings Answer, That the Lords do agree to the Conferences, as they are desired; and do agree to the Order for a new Seal, for the County Palatine of Lancaster, &c. And, as to the Adjournment till Saturday next, they will send Answer by Messengers of their own.

Tomson's Regiment.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Committee for the West, to consider of Colonel Tomson's Regiment of Horse, informed to be returned; and to consider how the Monies, for that Regiment, have been issued.

Prisoners.

Ordered, That the Committee for Prisoners do not give any Directions for the Release of any Prisoners, upon taking the Oath, until the House take further Order, notwithstanding any former Order.

Reducing Pembroke.

The Relations of reducing the whole County of Pembroke to the Service of the King and Parliament, were this Day read: And

Ordered, That the Lords be acquainted with them at a Conference; and that the Relations be forthwith printed and published.

Ordered, That Mr. Recorder do write a Letter of Thanks to the Gentlemen of the County of Pembroke, in Acknowledgment and Testimony of their great and faithful Service, done to the King and Parliament, in reducing, to the Obedience of the King and Parliament, the said whole County.

Ordered, That Sir Henry Mildmay do, in like manner, write a Letter of Thanks to Captain Richard Swanley, and the rest of the Commanders of the Fleet, sent to Milford Haven, in Acknowledgment of Service done, in their Endeavours employed in the reducing of the County of Pembroke.

Articles against Leeving.

Whereas the Committee at Coventry formerly preferred a Petition and Articles, against one Mr. Leeving; the which Petition was after referred to the Hearing and Examination of the Committee of this House for Examinations; and, by Order of the said Committee, referred to be heard and examined before the Earl of Denbigh: It is this Day Ordered, by the Commons, in Parliament assembled, That there be no Proceedings upon the said Order of Reference of the said Committee of Examinations, until this House take further Order.

Conference.

Sir Henry Vane, Mr. Reynolds, and Mr. White, are appointed Managers of this Conference.

Regulating Printing.

Upon reading some Passages in a Pamphlet, wherein Sir Richard Onsloe was scandalized;

It is Ordered, That no Pamphlet shall be printed, but by the Approbation and Allowance of Mr. John Rusworth; who is required to take especial Care, what Pamphlets are licensed: And that Mr. Walley, that was formerly appointed to license the same, be discharged thereof.

Army Arrears.

Ordered, That an Ordinance be brought in, to enable the Committee in Essex, to design, out of the Lord Peter's Woods, such Underwoods, and decayed Trees, to be felled, as will amount to the Value of Three thousand Pounds; and that the same Woods be cut down accordingly, and disposed of to the best Advantage, for the Payment of Three thousand Pounds to Colonel Harvey, towards the Recruits and Arrears of his Regiment.
