PRAYERS.

Military Affairs.

A LETTER from Colonel Purefoy, from Warwick, the Eleventh of June, concerning the taking of Compton House, was this Day read.

A Letter from the Committees with the Army near Yorke, of the Eighth of June, concerning the taking of Mr. Darley, by a Troop of Horse, and carried to Scarborough; and desiring another Committee to be sent.

Northern Association.

A Letter from Escrick near Yorke, of June Eleventh, from the Committees of Parliament, desiring Derbyshire and Lancashire to be joined to the Association of the Northern Counties, was this Day read; and ordered to be referred, upon the whole Matter, to the Committee of both Kingdoms, to present their Opinions upon it to this House, if they shall think fit: And the Gentlemen of Derbyshire and Lancashire are appointed to attend the Committee of both Kingdoms upon this Business.

Leave of Absence.

Ordered, That Mr. James Fienis shall have Liberty to go into the Country, to the Waters, for Recovery of his Health; and to stay Three Weeks, or a Month.

Wiltshire Forces, &c.

An Ordinance for raising and maintaining of Horse and Foot for the County of Wilts, and for maintaining of the Garison of Malmesbury, in the said County of Wilts, &c. was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon Question, committed unto Mr. Prideaux, Sir Walt. Erle, Sir Robert Pye, Sir Peter Wentworth, Sir Edw. Hungerford, Mr. Maynard, Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Cage, Mr. Hodges, Mr. Nicoll, Mr. Trenchard, Mr. Long, Mr. Rich. Browne, Mr. Holles, Mr. Pury, Mr. Whitehead, Mr. Lisle, Mr. Baynton, Sir Jo. Curson, Mr. Blakiston, and Mr. Oldesworth, the Knights and Burgesses of the Six Western Counties of Cornewall, Devon, Dorsett, Somersett, Wilts, and Gloucester: And are to meet this Afternoon, at Two of Clock, in the Star Chamber: And have Power to send for Parties, Witnesses, &c.

Western Association.

An Ordinance for associating the Six Western Counties of Cornewall, Devon, Dorsett, Somersett, Wilts, and Gloucester; and for raising of Forces of Horse and Foot under the Command of Sir Wm. Waller Commander in Chief; and for raising of Monies for Maintenance of the said Forces; was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed unto the same former Committee as Wiltshire Ordinance is committed.

Army Stores.

Mr. Recorder reports from the Committee of both Kingdoms, That, whereas Order was given for sending away Two hundred Barrels of Powder to Hull, for the Northern Armies; they desire, that a proportionable Quantity of Match and Bullet may be forthwith provided; and likewise sent to Hull.

Ordered, That Four hundred Seventy Pounds be forthwith paid out of Haberdashers Hall, for the furnishing of Ten Ton of Match and Ten Ton of Bullet, for the Armies, unto the Lieutenants of the Ordinance, upon Account: And that the said Four hundred Seventy Pounds be repaid out of the Monies that shall arise upon the Jewels found and seized at Saint James's; or out of Malignants, Delinquents, or Papists Estates now offered to be discovered.

Resolved, &c. That it shall be referred to the Committee of the Navy to contract with such Persons as they shall think fit, for furnishing the Magazine with Powder and Ammunition.

It is especially recommended unto Sir H. Vane sen. and Mr. Crew, to have a Care of this Business.

Raising the Siege of Lyme.

A Letter from my Lord Admiral, from Lyme, of June the Fifteenth, concerning the raising of the Siege, was this Day read.

Ordered, That Mr. Prideaux and Mr. Rose shall prepare a Letter to be sent to the Town of Lyme, to represent the good Acceptance of the faithful Services of that Town; and likewise to prepare a Letter to be sent to my Lord Admiral, to return him Thanks for his Encouragement and Assistance given to the Town of Lyme.

Ordered, That the Ministers in and about London and Westminster, and the Parishes within the Bills of Mortality, do, on the next Lord's Day, take notice of the great Blessing of God in preserving the Town of Lyme, and raising the Siege. The Lieutenant of the Tower is to give notice of this Order to the Lord Mayor; and to desire him, that Notice may be likewise given hereof to the several Parishes within the Bills of Mortality.

Ordered, That the Six-and-twenty Dozen Pair of Shoes, sequestered for Rent, and now at Campden House, be bestowed upon the Towns of Poole and Lyme.

Ordered, That Two thousand Pounds of the Four first Thousand Pounds as shall be raised in the County of Dorsett, shall be employed for the Service and Advantage of the Town of Lyme.

Military Affairs.

Mr. Recorder proceeds in his Report; and presents a Letter from Sir H. Vane the younger, to the Committee of both Kingdoms, dated at the Leaguer before Yorke, the Eleventh of June: Which was read: And likewise a Letter from the Lord Fairfaxe; and another from the Committee of both Kingdoms; and another from General Lecen; and another from the Earl of Manchester; all of the same Date, of the Eleventh of June; were read also; relating the Condition of the Siege before Yorke; and their Opinions concerning the Relief of Lancashire.

Resolved, &c. That the Earl of Manchester, the Lord Fairfaxe, Sir Tho. Fairfaxe, and Sir Wm. Constable, shall be added to the Committees appointed to reside with the Northern and Scotts Armies; armed with the same Powers and Instructions as the other Committees have.

A Letter from the Earl of Denbighe, Sir Wm. Bruerton, Henry Brooke, Simon Rugely, &c. dated at Stirbridge, June Fifteenth, directed to the Committee of both Kingdoms; desiring Sir W. Waller may continue in those Parts where he is, and join with the Forces in those Parts;

Another Letter of the Earl of Denbighe, of the same Date; was read; relating the Fight with the Enemy near Dudley Castle; and of the Repulse the Enemy received there.

A Letter from the Earl of Essex, directed to the Committee of both Kingdoms, dated at Blandforde, June the 14th, 1644, concerning the Directions be hath received about his Retreat out of the West.-

Warrant to search for Money.

Ordered, That Mr. Speaker do grant his Warrant to such Person as Mr. Whitlocke shall nominate, to make Search for the Discovery of Ten thousand Pounds, informed to belong unto Malignants and Delinquents: And it is left to Mr. Whitlocke, to compound with the Party that shall discover the same, for a fit Allowance for every One thousand Pounds he shall discover: And Half of such Monies as shall be discovered, shall be employed for the Setting-forth and Pay of the Forces raised for the reducing of Oxforde, Buck', and Berks; and be paid to the Treasurer appointed by the Committee of those Counties, for that Purpose.-

Waller's Army.

Resolved, &c. That the Committee of both Kingdoms do, this Afternoon, write to Sir Wm. Waller, not to return, but to take the best Advantages he can against the Enemy, till the House take further Order.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth undertake to see Sir Wm. Waller's Army paid, during the Time he shall be employed out of his Association: And the Committee of both Kingdoms is to signify thus much unto Sir Wm. Waller.
