Turner's &c. Petition.

ORDERED, That the Petition of Richard Turner, Maurice Gething, Tempest Milner, and Hannah Wollaston, be read on Tuesday next, after the Act for the General.

Grant to Alkeen.

Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to take care to bestow some House on Elizabeth Alkeen, Widow, for her Life; and also to give her what they shall think sit, for Supply of her present Necessity.

Serjeants at Law.

An Act for issuing forth Writs, returnable 9 Junii 1649, for calling of Peter Warburton Esquire, Richard Aske Esquire, and Alexander Rigby Esquire, to the Degree of Serjeant at Law, was this Day read; and, upon the Question, passed.

The Form of the Writ, to call Serjeants at Law, was this Day read, and agreed unto; and, upon the Question, ordered to be the Form in such Cases.

The Form of an Oath, to be taken by Serjeants at Law, was this Day read; and upon the Question, agreed unto.

Late King's Property.

Commissary General Ireton proceeded this Day in his Report of the Amendments to the Act for Sale of the Goods of the late King, Queen, and Prince: Which said Amendments were twice read; and, upon the Question, assented unto.

And the said Act, so amended, being put to the Question, was, upon the Question, ordered to be ingrossed.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Anthony Myldmay be added as one of the Trustees in this Act.

Resolved, &c. That the Order of the Fourth of April last, whereby the Proposition of Captain Myldmay, touching the Pictures and Statutes be referred to the Council of State, to take care therein, for the Benefit of the Commonwealth, be revoked.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. Lampeire be added as one of the Trustees in this Act.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. * Belcampe be added as one of the Trustees in this Act.

Resolved, &c. That Mr. * Grafton, of *, be added as one of the Trustees in this Act.

The Question being put, That Mr. Winstanley be added as one of the Trustees in this Act;

It passed with the Negative.

Absent Members.

Colonel Ludlow reports from the Committee touching absent Members, That they have received Satisfaction touching Mr. Hussey, and Mr. Thomas Pury.

Ordered, That Mr. Hussey and Mr. Pury be admitted into the House.

Claims on Publick Faith.

Mr. John Corbett reports Instructions for the Trustees, Treasurers, and Register Accomptant, for the Sale of Dean and Chapters Lands, for the admitting such as have Monies owing them upon the Publick Faith, to come in, and double upon Deans and Chapters Lands: Which were read the First time at large; and after was read again by Parts: And every Part, being put to the Question, was assented unto: And the said Instructions, being put to the Question, passed.

Resolved, &c. That if, upon Return of the Surveys, it shall appear, that the Dean and Chapters Lands shall not be sufficient to satisfy and defray the Monies charged upon them; then the House doth declare, That they will give further Security for Surplussage of the said Debt, upon some other Receipts of the Commonwealth.

Mr. Corbett reports the Debt owing by Mr. Bingham to Mr. Scutt; and the Petition of divers Citizens of London.

Whereas the House is informed, That Mr. Scutt, of Poole, who lent to Colonel Bingham Five hundred Pounds, upon Bond for the Use of the Garison of Poole, is willing to double the said Sum, upon the Lands of Deans and Chapters: It is Ordered, That the said Mr. Scutt shall and may be admitted to double the said Sum upon the Lands of the Dean and Chapters: And that he shall have the like Benefit of the Act, as other Persons that were in upon Doubling are to have: And that the Trustees and Treasurers do admit him accordingly.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Citizens of London, now reported from the Committee appointed to prepare Instructions for the Trustees, &c. for Sale of Dean and Chapters Lands, be taken into Consideration on Monday Morning next.

Resolved, &c. That all such Persons as come in, and double their Monies upon Purchase of Deans and Chapters Lands, within the Times limited by the Instructions, shall be allowed after the Rate of Eight Pounds per Centum per Annum, for Forbearance of their said Monies: But such as shall not come in, and double their Monies within the time limited by the said Instructions, shall have only after the Rate of Six Pounds per Centum for Forbearance of their Monies.

Whereas both Houses of Parliament did on the Second of August last, order the Sum of Two thousand Nine hundred Pounds to be forthwith paid unto Ralph Darnell Esquire, Clerk Assistant in this House, or his Assigns (in lieu of his Sufferings, and Loss of his Office, in the late Court of Wards), out of the Remainder of the Sum of Fourteen thousand Pounds, remaining due upon Two Subsidies, granted in or about May 1641, for Supply of his Majesty's Army, and Relief of the then Northern Parts of this Kingdom; but no Part thereof is yet paid: Now, for the better securing of the said Money to the said Ralph Darnell, and his Assigns, it is Ordered, by the Commons assembled in Parliament, That the said Ralph Darnall, and his Assigns, be and is hereby admitted to come in as a Purchaser of Deans and Chapters Lands, upon doubling the said Money, or for so much thereof as he shall double: And that he, and his Assigns, have the same Benefit and Advantage as any others that double their Debts, upon Purchase of Deans and Chapters Lands, have, or may have, by the Act for abolishing Deans and Chapters, &c.: And the Trustees, Register Accomptant, and Treasurers for Sale of Deans and Chapters Lands, are required to admit him as a Purchaser, upon doubling the said Debt, or any Part thereof, as aforesaid; and to allow of the said Debt, or any Part thereof, in such Purchase to be made accordingly.

Whereas the Sum of Six thousand One hundred Pounds is due and owing, by the State, unto Thomas Boone Esquire, and Arthure Upton Esquire, Son of John Upton Esquire, deceased; and the said Thomas Boone and Arthure Upton, their Executors or Assigns, were, by Order of this House, of the First Day of May 1649, admitted to come in for Satisfaction of the said Debt, out of the Sale of Dean and Chapters Lands, in such sort as others whose Debts are transferred from the Excise, and Grand Receipt of Goldsmiths Hall, by the Act touching Deans and Chapters Lands, are and may do: It is now Ordered, That the said Order, of the First Day of May 1649, be, and is hereby, vacated.

And it is further Ordered, That the said Sum of Six thousand One hundred Pounds be, and is hereby, charged upon the Publick Revenue: And the Committee of the Revenue are hereby required to pay the said Sum of Six thousand One hundred Pounds unto the said Thomas Boone and Arthure Upton, or either of them, their or either of their Executors or Assigns; viz. the Sum of Three thousand Fifty Pounds, being One Moiety thereof, on the Second Day of December 1649; and the Sum of Three thousand Fifty Pounds, Residue thereof, on the Second Day of June, which shall be in the Year of our Lord 1650: And the Acquittance or Acquittances of the said Thomas Boone and Arthure Upton, or either of them, their or either of their Executors or Assigns, shall be a sufficient Warrant and Discharge to the said Committee, and the Receiver or Treasurer, or to such other Person or Persons as shall pay the same.

Whereas the Sum of Six thousand One hundred Pounds, due and owing, by the State, unto Thomas Boone and Arthure Upton Esquires, is charged upon the Publick Revenue, to be paid unto the said Thomas Boone and Arthure Upton, or their Assigns, on the Second Day of December 1649, and on the Second Day of June 1650, by equal Portions: Now, for the better Securing of the said Six thousand One hundred Pounds unto the said Thomas Boone and Arthure Upton, It is Ordered, That the said Thomas Boone and Arthur Upton, their Executors or Assigns, may, if they shall think sit, be, and are hereby, admitted to come in as Purchasers of Deans and Chapters Lands, upon doubling the said Money, or for so much thereof as they, or either of them, shall double: And that they, or either of them, have the same Benefit and Advantage, as any others that double their Debts upon Purchase of Deans and Chapters Lands have, or may have, by the Act for abolishing Deans and Chapters, &c.: And the Trustees, Register Accomptant, and Treasurers for Sale of Deans and Chapters Lands, are required to allow of the said Debt, or any Part thereof, in such Purchase to..made accordingly.

Wilson's Accompt, &c.

Ordered, That, on Monday next, the House take into Consideration the Accompt of Mr. Wilson; and the Petition of the reduced Officers.
