Prayers.

Charitable Uses.

ORDERED, That the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal of England be authorized and required to insert in every Commission which shall be by them issued, grounded upon the Statute of charitable Uses, a Clause, authorizing the Commissioners in the said several Commissions, to examine what Sum and Sums of Money have been collected by any Person or Persons upon the Act of Parliament, made in the Seventeenth Year of the late King, intituled, An Act for a speedy Contribution and Loan towards the Relief of his Majesty's distressed Subjects of the Kingdom of Ireland, or upon any other Act or Ordinance of Parliament, towards the Relief of the Protestants in Ireland: And that the said Commissioners have the like Power and Authority to proceed by Inquisition of Juries, to examine and make Decrees therein against such Collector, or other Person, his and their Executors and Administrators, for Payment of all such Sum and Sums of Money to the Treasurers of Christ Church, formerly appointed by Parliament for Contributions for the Protestants driven out of Ireland; and to be distributed, by the Committees appointed by the Parliament for that Purpose, for the Uses appointed by the said several Acts and Ordinances of Parliament, in like Sort, as by the Act of Parliament they are enabled to do, for all Monies given to any charitable Use or Uses, mentioned in the Act of Parliament of 43 Eliz. touching charitable Uses: And that the said Lords Commissioners of the Great Seal of England have like Power and Authority to proceed in all and every Case, concerning such Sum and Sums of Money so collected upon the Acts or Ordinances asoresaid, as by the said Act of 43 Eliz. the Lord Chancellor, or Lord Keeper of the Great Seal of England, for the Time being, have Power to do.

Earl of Denbigh's Claims.

Colonel Purefoy reports from the Committee to whom Colonel Marten's Business was referred, That there is Arrears of the Pension of Six hundred Sixty-six Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Four-pence per Annum, due to Basill Earl of Denbigh, the Sum of Five thousand Six hundred Sixty-six Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Fourpence for Eight Years, ending at Michaelmas 1648, and the Sum of Seventeen hundred Seventy-four Pounds, in Arrear of his Entertainment of Six Pounds per diem, due to him as Extraordinary Ambassador to the State of Venice, ending the Fifteenth of April 1642: And whereas there is further demanded for Reportation One thousand Pounds, and for Intelligence a greater Sum: It is the Opinion of the Committee, That the former Two Sums, making, in toto, Seven thousand Four hundred Forty Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Four-pence, be made up into the entire Sum of Nine thousand Pounds, to be charged on the Proceed of the Sale of the King's Goods.

Resolved, &c. That this House doth agree, That the Sum of Seventeen hundred Seventy-four Pounds be paid to the Earl of Denbigh.

Ordered, That the said Sum of Seventeen hundred Seventy-four Pounds be charged upon the Publick Revenue: And that the Committee of the Revenue be authorized and required to make Payment of the said Seventeen hundred Seventy-four Pounds unto the said Earl of Denbigh, or his Assigns: And that the Acquittance and Acquittances of the said Basil Earl of Denbigh, or his Assigns, for the said Seventeen hundred Seventy-four Pounds, or any Part thereof, shall be a sufficient Discharge to the said Committee of Revenue, and to the Receiver General of the Publick Revenue; or such other Person and Persons as shall make Payment thereof.

Crown Lands.

An Act, with further Instructions to the Treasurers, Trustees, Contractors, Registers, Surveyors, and other Persons, employed in the Sale of the Honours, Manors, and Lands, belonging to the late King, Queen, and Prince, was this Day read the First and Second time.

And the Question being propounded, That the last Clause in the said Act; viz. "That all Honours, Manors, and Royalties, &c.;" be Committed;

It passed with the Negative.

And the Remainder of the said Bill was, upon the Question, committed unto the Committee of Obstructions for Sale of Deans and Chapters Lands: And all that come to have Voices, as to this Business.

And Mr. Allen is to take care of it.

An Act, That the Committee named in an Act of the Twentieth of June 1649, for removing Obstructions in the Sale of the Lands of the Deans, Dean and Chapters, &c. was this Day read the First and Second time; and, upon the Question, committed to the same Committee.

Prisoners in the Tower.

Mr. Scott reports from the Council of State, That it is the Opinion of that Council, That Mr. Walwyn, Mr. Overton, and Mr. Prince, now Prisoners in the Tower of London, have the Liberty of the Tower allowed unto them.

Ordered, That Mr. Walwyn, Mr. Overton, and Mr. Prince, now Prisoners in the Tower of London, have the Liberty of the Tower allowed unto them.

Miners.

Ordered, That the Report touching the Miners be made on Wednesday next.

Fens.

Ordered, That the Report touching the Fens be made on Wednesday next.

Business deserred.

Ordered, That those Business that were appointed for this Day, be heard on Tuesday next.

Ordered, That the Business concerning Norwich be heard on Tuesday next.

Guernsey.

Ordered, That the Report concerning Guernsey be made on Wednesday next.

Captives.

Ordered, That the Bill for the Captives be read on Wednesday next.

Invalid Soldiers.

The humble Petition of the wounded, maimed, and sick Soldiers, in the Savoy Hospital, and at Ely House, was this Day read.

Whereas the Sum of Eleven hundred Pounds was heretofore ordered to be paid for Satisfaction of Arrears, to the wounded, maimed, and sick Soldiers, and charged upon the Treasurers at Guildhall: It is now Ordered, That the said Sum of Eleven hundred Pounds be paid out of the Sequestrations of Goldsmiths Hall, or out of the Sequestrations of Guildhall, which shall first happen: And that the same be disposed of according to the former Order: And that the said former Order be vacated.

Reduced Officers, &c.

The humble Petition of several reduced Officers, and others, whose Names are hereunto subscribed, was this Day read.

Ordered, That the said Petition be referred to the Committee at Goldsmiths Hall; to consider of this Petition; and present their Opinion to this House therein; and what is fit to be done upon it, for the Petitioners Satisfaction.

Ordered, That the Petition of the Officers formerly of the Garison of Plymouth, be referred to the Committee of Goldsmiths Hall; to consider thereof; and to present their Opinions to this House therein; and what is fit to .. done upon it, for Satisfaction of the Petitioners.

Walford's Claims.

Ordered, That the Petition of Edward Walford Gentleman be referred unto Colonel Rich, Mr. Allen, Mr. Millington, Mr. Smyth, Mr. Holland, Mr. Goodwin, Mr. Say, Captain Smyth, or any Five of them; to examine whether the Tenement over the Gate of Worcester House, do belong to the Commonwealth: And if, upon Examination, it appears to belong to the State; that then the Petitioner have the same conserred upon him.

Grant to Bennett.

Ordered, That Thomazsine Bennett Widow have Eight Shillings per Week paid her, from the Time of the Death of her Husband: And that the Committee for maimed Soldiers be authorized and required to order the Payment thereof accordingly, out of the Eleven hundred Six Pounds, deducting what she hath already received; and to continue the Payment thereof for the future.

Spices.

Ordered, That the Report touching Garbling be made on Wednesday next.
