Thursday, the 3d of November, 1653.

Nomination of Sheriffs.

ORDERED, That Tuesday next be appointed for the Nomination of Sheriffs: And that the Members of the House do then present the Names of fit Persons for Sheriffs of the respective Counties.

Earl of Shrewsbury's Estate.

Ordered, That the Sale of the Lands and Estate of the Earl of Shrewsbury be said for one Week longer: And that the Trustees for Sale of the Lands and Estates forfeited to the Commonwealth for Treason, do forbear the Sale thereof, accordingly.

Chancery Court.

Resolved, That the House do proceed to receive the Report of the Bill for the Chancery.

Colonel West reports from the Committee of the Law, A Bill for taking away the High Court of Chancery, and appointing Commissioners and Judges to hear and determine, as well Causes now depending, as also future Matters of Equity, and putting in Order other Matters of Law, which were within the Jurisdiction of that Court; and regulating divers Abuses in the Courts of Common Law: Which was this Day read the First and Second time: And, upon the Question, committed to the Committee of the Law.

Ordered, That Major-General Harrison and Mr. St. Nicholas be added to that Committee.

Assessment.

Resolved, That the Bill for the Assessment be read To-morrow Morning, the first Business.
