Preachers thanked.
ORDERED, That the Thanks of this House be given unto Mr. Adderley, for his great Pains taken in carrying on the Work of Prayer and Preaching in this House this Day, being a Day set apart for Humiliation, and Seeking the Lord for his Blessing upon the Counsels of this House: And Mr. Holland is desired to give Mr. Adderley the Thanks of this House accordingly.
Ordered, That the Thanks of this House be given unto Mr. Griffith, for his great Pains taken in carrying on the Work of Prayer and Preaching in this House this Day, being a Day set apart for Humiliation, and Seeking the Lord for his Blessing upon the Counsels of this House: And Sir Henry Mildmay is desired to give Mr. Griffith the Thanks of this House, accordingly.
Ordered, That a Collection be made of the Charity of the Members of this House, for Relief of the Poor, at the Rising of this House.
Transactions with Holland.
Sir Henry Vane reports from the Council of State, A Paper delivered to the Council of State, from the Lord Ambassador of the States-General of the United Provinces of the Netherlands: Which was read.
And also the Treaty between this Commonwealth, the States General of the United Provinces, and Fraunce: Which was also read.
And also some Propositions, to be treated upon with the Lord Ambassador of the Lords the States-General: Which were also read.
And also the Opinion of the Council of State, touching the Instructions to be sent to General Mountague.
Resolved, That these Papers be presently returned back to the Council of State.
Resolved, That this House doth approve of the Proceedings of the Council of State, with the Lord Ambassador of the States-General of the United Provinces of the Netherlands.
Ordered, That it be referred to the Council of State, to proceed in the Managing the Treaty between this State and the States-General of the United Provinces of the Netherlands, as they shall think fit, upon the Grounds and Proposals presented to this House; and report their Proceedings therein to this House, for their Approbation.
Resolved, That Power be given to the Council of State to send Commissioners or Instructions unto General Mountague, or any others, as they shall see Cause, for the Preservation of the Interest of this Commonwealth, in the Business of the Sound.
Petition and Address of Army, &c. Officers.
Ordered, That the House be resolved into a Grand Committee, on Monday Morning next, upon the former Votes made upon the Petition and Address of the Army, and upon the Bill for Indemnity and Oblivion.
