Irish Officer.

ORDERED, That the Business touching the Officers for Ireland, be taken into Consideration To-morrow Morning, the first Business; nothing to intervene.

Poor.

The House this Day resumed the Debate upon the Act for further providing for, and Setting on Work, the Poor.

The Question being put, That the Word "errable." next after the Word "of," in the 19th Line of the 10th Page, do stand in the Bill;

It passed with the Negative.

The Question being put, That these Words, "or Lands used," do stand in the Bill, in the 20th Line of the 10th Page, next after the Word "Land;"

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That these Words, "yearly put," be inserted, instead of the said Words, "or Lands used."

Resolved, That the Blank in the 20th and 21st Lines of the 10th Page, be filled up with "the First Day of February 1653."

The Question being put, That the Word "yearly," in the 21st Line of the 10th Page, do stand in the Bill;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That these Words be added in the 22d Line of the 10th Page, next after the Word "Hemp," viz. "for every Year he shall sow the same."

The Question being put, That the Proportion for Fifty Acres do stand in this Bill;

The House was divided.

The Yeas went forth.

So it passed with the Negative.

The Question being put, That the Proportion of Fiveand-twenty Acres do stand in this Bill;

It passed with the Negative.

Resolved, That these Words, "or both, or either of them," be inserted, next after the Word "Hemp," in the 22d Line in the 10th Page.

Resolved, That the Clause touching the Justices Power to dispense in this Case, do stand in the Bill.

The Question being propounded, That the Penalty in this Clause of the Bill be Twenty Shillings;

And the Question being put, That that Question be now put;

The House was divided.

The Noes went forth.

So it passed with the Affirmative.

And the Question being put, That the Penalty in this Clause of the Bill be Twenty Shillings;

The House was again divided.

The Yeas went forth.

So it pased with the Negative.

The Question being propounded, That the Penalty in this Clause in the Bill be Ten Shillings.

And the Question being put, That this Question be now put;

It passed in the Affirmative.

And the main Question being put; It was

Resolved, by the Parliament, That the Penalty in this Clause of the Bill be Ten Shillings.

A Proviso was tendered to this Bill, in these Words; viz. "Provided always, and be it further Enacted, That no Person, for any Land tythable, which shall be sowed with Hemp or Flax, be compelled to pay more than after the Rate of Three Shillings the Acre, and so proportionably for, and in Demand of, Tythe thereof; any Law, Statute, or Custom, to the contrary in any wise notwithstanding:" Which was this Day read the First time.

Resolved, That this Proviso be now read the Second time.

The said Proviso was now read the Second time; and, upon the Question, rejected.

Customs.

Ordered, That the Bill for the Farmers of the Customs, be read on this Day Fortnight, the first Business.

Carmen.

Ordered, That the Act touching Carmen be reported on this Day Fortnight, next after the Business touching the Farmers of the Customs.
