Tuesday, January 24th, 1659.

Col. Fleetwood, &c. to attend.

ORDERED, That Colonel Fleetwood, the Lord Whitlock, Mr. Strickland, and Mr. Holland, be and are required to attend the Parliament on this Day Sevennight: And that the Serjeant at Arms attending the House summon them to appear, accordingly.

Ordered, That Colonel Bennett be likewise enjoined to attend the Parliament forthwith.

Committee of Safety.

Ordered, That all Clerks, and other Person and Persons, in whose Hands or Custody any Letters, Books, Journals, and Papers of the late pretended Committee of Safety, and of any other Committees, which acted by or under their Authority, do deliver the same to the Clerk of the Parliament: And that they be brought into this House, on this Day Sevennight.

Ordered, That Mr. Scobell do attend the Parliament, on this Day Sevennight, with all Papers concerning the Draught of a Government, presented to the late pretended Committee of Safety, or Council of Officers of the Army.

Absent Member.

Ordered, That all such Members of Parliament, who have attended this House, and ought to give their Attendance here, do attend the Service of the Parliament on this Day Sevennight, upon Pain of Twenty Pounds.

Admiralty Judges.

Ordered, That Commissions be granted to the Judges of the Admiralty, and Probate of Wills, and granting Administrations: And that Mr. Speaker be, and is hereby, authorized to sign Dockets for passing the said Commissions, under the Great Seal: And that the Commissioners for Custody of the Great Seal do pass the said Commissions, under the Great Seal, accordingly.

Ordered, That, on Friday next, the House do take into Consideration the Salaries of the Judges for the Court of Admiralty, and Probate of Wills.

Justices of Peace.

Ordered, That the Lords Commissioners for the Great Seal do grant Commissions to the Justices of Peace in Lancashire and Cheshire, in usual Manner as is granted to Justices of Peace in other Counties.

Ordered, That it be referred to a Committee, to present the Names of Justices of the Peace for the respective Counties in England and Wales: And that the Commissioners for Custody of the Great Seal do pass Commissions unto them, under the Great Seal of England: Viz. unto Mr. Lenthall, Sir James Harrington, Colonel Lister, Mr. Millington, Colonel Dove, Colonel Martin, Colonel Fagg, Mr. Oldsworth, Colonel Hutchinson, Mr. Pury, Mr. Robert Goodwin, Mr. Andrewes, Mr. Love, Colonel Peter Temple, Colonel Walton, Mr. Nelthrope, Mr. Trenchard, Colonel Waite, Mr. Dormer, Mr. Harby, Sir Tho. Wroth, Colonel Pyne, Colonel Harvey, Colonel Morley, Colonel Birch, Mr. Gurdon, Mr. Garland, Sir Anthony Ashley Cooper, Lord Commissioner Lisle, Colonel White, Mr. Richard Darley, Mr. Hen. Darley, Sir Arthur Hesilrig; or any Five of them: And all that come to have Voices: And are to meet this Afternoon, at Four of Clock, in the Speaker's Chamber.

Assessment.

The House, according to former Order, this Day proceeded in the Bill of Assessment.

A Rider, in Parchment, was tendered to this Bill, of Commissioners Names for the County of Lancaster: Which were read the First time.

Resolved, That these Names be read the Second time.

The said Names were read the Second time, accordingly; and ordered to be part of the Bill.

Ordered, That John Archer, one of the Justices of the Court of Common-Pleas, Wm. Wolley, Francis Mussenden Esquire, Edward Nelthorpe, and * Osney, of Lowth, Esquire, Edward Rosseter, and Tho. Hatcher, be added Commissioners for the County of Lyncolne.

Ordered, That Mr. Justice Archer be added a Commissioner for the Assessment in the County of Essex.

Army Commissions.

THE House being informed, That divers Officers of the Army were at the Door;

They were called in: And, coming up to the Clerk's Table, in usual manner, Mr. Speaker acquainted them with the great Trust reposed in them by the Parliament and Commonwealth; and that the Parliament and Commonwealth expected Faithfulness from them, accordingly: and thereupon Mr. Speaker delivered,

To Quarter-master Moseley Scott, his Commission to be Quarter-master of a Troop in Colonel Walton's Regiment:

To Quarter-master Henry Rudder, his Commission to be Quarter-master of a Troop in the same Regiment:

To Samuell Bridger, his Commission to be Cornet of a Troop in the same Regiment.

Assessment.

The House proceeded in the Bill of Assessment.

Ordered, That John Hobart of Norwich, be added a Commissioner in this Bill for Norffolk and Suffolk.

Ordered, That Richard Slater, John Hough, and Christopher Alured, Esquires, be added Commissioners for the County of Nottingham.

Army Appointments.

Resolved, That Francis Cheesman be Lieutenant of a Troop of Horse in Colonel Sir Anthony Ashley Cooper's Regiment.

Resolved, That Erasmus Saunders be made Cornet of a Troop in the said Regiment, in the Room of Francis Cheesman.

Arnold Cella Nova was propounded to be Surgeon to Sir Anthony Ashley Cooper's Regiment.

Letter read.

A Letter, from Dorchester, the 23d January 1659, directed to Mr. Nevill, a Member of Parliament, was read.
