WILLIAM Dewert did this Day take the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy, in order to his being naturalized.

Ordered, That the Name of the said William Dewert be inserted into the Bill for Naturalization.

Colfe's Charities.

A Bill to establish and settle the charitable Use of Abraham Colfe Clerk, in erecting and endowing Two Free Schools in Levisham in Kent, was read the Second time.

Lords desire a Conference.

A Message from the Lords, by Sir William Child and Sir Mondeford Brampston;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have sent us down to desire a present Conference with this House, in the Painted Chamber, upon an Answer they have from his Majesty to the Vote of both Houses, concerning the Indignities and Depredations done by the Dutch; with which his Majesty was attended by both Houses on Wednesday last.

The Messengers being again called in; Mr. Speaker did acquaint them, That the House had agreed to a present Conference in the Painted Chamber.

Ordered, That Mr. Clifford, and the other Members who were appointed to manage the former Conference with the Lords, do manage this Conference.

Mr. Clifford reports from the Conference had with the Lords, That the Lord Privy Seal did manage the Conference; and did there communicate the King's Majesty's Answer to the Vote of both Houses; and delivered the same, in Writing, to be also communicated to the House: Which he delivered in at the Clerk's Table. And the same being twice read by Mr. Speaker- (which was as followeth;

Answer to Vote against Holland.

HIS Majesty, having considered the Address made to Him by His Two Houses of Parliament, is very well pleased with the great Zeal they have expressed for the Advancement of the Trade of this Kingdom, and removing all Obstructions which may hinder the same; being thoroughly convinced it is That which will contribute most to the Honour and Glory of this Nation, and the Prosperity of His People. His Majesty will examine and peruse the particular Complaints which have been represented to His Parliament; and thereupon, according to their Advice, appoint His Minister at the Hague to demand speedy Justice and Reparation from the States General; as also use His utmost Endeavours to secure His Subjects from the like Violences for the future. In the Prosecution of which, or upon the Denial of Justice, He depends on the Promise of both Houses to stand by Him: And returns them His hearty Thanks for their frank Declaration therein);-

Thanks for Answer.

Resolved, &c. That the humble and hearty Thanks of this House be returned to the King's Majesty, by such Members of this House as are of his Majesty's honourable Privy Council, for his Majesty's gracious Message, in Answer to the Vote of both Houses, touching Depredations and Injuries done by the Dutch.
