Chester Navigation.

A PETITION on the Behalf of the Mayor, Aldermen, and Inhabitants of the City of Chester being tendered;

Ordered, That Leave be given to bring in a Bill to make the River between the City of Chester and the Sea navigable.

Fees in Outports.

Two Petitions being tendered: One on the Behalf of the Town of Boston; and the other, on the Behalf of the Town of Spalding in Lincolnshire, being tendered;

Ordered, That the said Petitions be delivered in, and read To-morrow Morning.

Shadwell Church.

A Bill for endowing a Church, and making a distinct Parish of the Precinct of Shadwell in the County of Middlesex, was read the Second time.

Ordered, That the Bill, on the Behalf of Mr. Pearle, be read To-morrow Morning.

Duty on Brandy.

A Petition being tendered to the House, touching the Importing of Brandy;

Ordered, That this Petition be read on Saturday Morning next, at Ten of the Clock.

Mr. Secretary Trevor delivers a Message from his Majesty, viz.

That it was his Majesty's Pleasure, that this House should attend his Majesty To-morrow Morning, at Nine of the Clock, in the Banqueting House at Whitehall.

Publick Accounts.

The House then proceeded to the Consideration of the Matter of the publick Accounts.

And the Commissioners of Accounts being called in, the Lord Brereton declared, That they had prepared a further Report, as to the Matter to them referred, concerning an Estimate of the Value of the Imposition on Wines, and other imported Liquors; and of the Frauds and Cheats in collecting that Duty: And, as to other Matters referred; they had made what further Progress they could in them; and, when they had any thing ready, would present it to the House.

The Report of the Commissioners of Accounts was delivered in; and read; and debated.

Resolved, &c. That a Committee be appointed to inspect the Act for an Imposition on Wines, and see whether it be defective; and wherein; and whether there be sufficient Power therein to call Persons accountable, to a just Account; and what Frauds and Abuses have been committed, in collecting the Duty; and by whom; and to receive Information touching the same; and consider whether it be fit to bring in a new Bill, to explain or supply the former Bill; and certify it, with their Opinions therein, to the House.

And it is referred to Mr. Garraway, Sir Thom. Lee, Mr. Waller, Sir Solom. Swale, Sir Robert Howard, Mr. Treasurer, Sir Jo. Norton, Sir Winston Churchill, Mr. Barnaby, Sir Thom. The Commissioners for publick Accounts, being called in again, were acquainted, that the Estimate, by them now delivered in, had been taken into Consideration; and that the House intended to proceed in that Matter of their former Report, concerning Prizes, on Saturday next: And were asked, if they could be ready to bring in the State of that Matter by that time: Who answered, That, as to some Part, they were ready; to others, not fully ready.

Ordered, That the Report of the Commissioners of Accounts, concerning Prizes, be taken into Consideration on Saturday Morning next; and that the Commissioners are desired then to attend, with what they have in readiness further to offer, touching that Matter.

And then the House adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Eight of the Clock.
