Die Martis, 26 Octobris, 1669. 21 Car. II.

Prayers.

King's Speech considered.

THE Order for taking his Majesty's Speech, and the Speech of the Lord Keeper, delivered by his Majesty's Command, into Consideration this Day, was read: As also both the said Speeches were read.

Publick Accounts.

The Commissioners appointed for taking the Accounts of publick Monies being at the Door, and called in, the Lord Brereton declared himself to the Effect following, and delivered in the Report of the Accounts; viz.

Mr. Speaker,

May it please this honourable House: "I am commanded, by the Commissioners for Accounts, humbly to represent to this honourable House a Report of the State of some Accounts, as they at present stand before us; wherein we have met with some Difficulties; which, together with some particular Observations upon the said Accounts, and Management of his Majesty's Affairs, we have thought it our Duty, in all Humility, to present to his Majesty, and both Houses of Parliament, concerning our Proceedings. I have only in Charge to say, that we have endeavoured constantly to do our Duties, according to the Tenor of our Oath, and the great Trust reposed in us by his Majesty and both Houses of Parliament, and that Justice and Equity which is due to all Mankind: And if in any thing we have failed, we humbly hope, that it shall be found to have proceeded from the Error of our Understandings, not of our Wills; and therefore, as all our Actions herein are liable to the Judgment of Parliament, so we shall with all Chearfulness submit to it."

Resolved, &c. That the Report of the Commissioners of Accounts be taken into Consideration on Saturday next; and that the Commissioners be desired then to attend.

Supply.

Ordered, That the Consideration of that Part of his Majesty's Speech which relates to his Debts and Supply, be adjourned till To-morrow Sevennight.

And then the House adjourned till Friday Morning next, Eight of the Clock.
