Duty on Brandy.

A BILL for explaining a former Act, and ascertaining the Imposition on Brandy, was read the Second time.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be committed to Colonel Birch, Sir John Knight, Sir John Coriton, Sir John Ernley, Sir John Talbot, Mr. Hide, Sir Rob. Carr, Col. Phillipps, Sir Edw. Seamour, Serjeant Hide, Sir Wm. Doyley, Sir Fretz. Hollis, Mr. King, Mr. Morice, Sir John Mallett, Sir John Heath, Mr. Chetwin, Mr. Spry, Mr. Williamson, Mr. Wren, Sir Robert Howard, Sir Lan. Regulating Jurors.

An ingrossed Bill to revive a former Act for returning able Jurors, was read.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill do pass: And that the Title be, An Act to revive a former Act for returning able Jurors:

And Sir Thomas Gower is to carry up the Bill to the Lords.

Sir H. Williams' Estate.

A Bill for Sale of the Lands and Estate of Sir Henry Williams Baronet, to pay Debts, and make Provision for his Children, was read.

Resolved, &c. That this Bill be read a Second time.

Firbeck Manor.

Sir Soloman Swale reports from the Committee to which the Bill, sent from the Lords, for Sale of the Manor of Firbeck, was committed, that the Committee had perused the Bill; and returned it without any Amendment: Which he delivered in at the Clerk's Table.

Bill's Estate.

Sir Gilb. Talbot reports the like, from the Committee to which the Bill, sent from the Lords, to enable John Bill Esquire, to sell Lands in Kent and Surrey, was committed.

Lady Routh's Estate.

Mr. Crowch makes the same Report from the Committee to which the Bill, sent from the Lords, concerning the Lady Routh, was committed.

Seaford Election.

The Petition of Robert Morley Esquire, touching the Election for the Borough of Seaford, was read.

Resolved, &c. That the Petition be committed to the Committee of Elections: And they are to take it into their Consideration the Second Tuesday after their Recess.

Tamworth Election.

Serjeant Charlton reports from the Committee of Elections, the State of the Case, touching the Election for the Borough of Tamworth, between the Lord Clifford and Mr. Ferrers; and the Evidence on both Sides; and Precedents as to former Usage: And that the Question upon the whole Matter was, Whether the Right of Election be in the Bailiffs and Four-and-twenty Capital Burgesses; or, in the Populacy and Burgesses at large: And that the Opinion of the Committee was, that the Right of Election was in the Bailiffs and Four-and-twenty Capital Burgesses, and not in the Populacy; and that the Lord Clifford had the Majority of Voices of the Bailiffs and Capital Burgesses: And that therefore the Committee had passed these Resolves; viz.

First, That Mr. Ferrers is not duly elected.

Secondly, That the Lord Clifford is duly elected.

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee, that Mr. Ferrers is not duly elected;

The House divided.

The Noes go out.

And so it was resolved in the Affirmative.

The Question being put, To agree with the Committee, that the Lord Clifford is duly elected for the Borough of Tamworth;

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Ordered, That the Clerk of the Crown do attend on Monday Morning, to amend the Return for the Borough of Tamworth.

And then the House adjourned till Monday Morning, Eight of the Clock.
