Prayers.

London Streets and Shores.

AN additional Bill for the better Cleansing, Paving and Maintaining the Streets and Shores within the City of London, was read.

Resolved, &c. That the Bill be read a Second time, To-morrow Morning.

Abuses in Elections.

Sir John Mallet reports from the Committee, to which the Bill to prevent Abuses in electing Members to serve in Parliament, some Amendments agreed by the Committee to be made, and a Clause to be added, to the Bill: Which he read, with the Coherence; and afterwards delivered the same in at the Clerk's Table: And the Amendments, being twice read at the Table, were, upon the Question, agreed.

Preventing Growth of Popery.

A Message from the Lords, by the Lord Chief Justice Vaughan and Mr. Baron Windham;

Mr. Speaker, The Lords have commanded us to acquaint you, that they have agreed to the Bill, sent from this House, intituled, An Act for preventing Dangers, which may happen from Popish Recusants; with some Amendments and Provisoes, to which they desire your Concurrence.

Privilege- Contempt of Orders.

Information being given to the House, That Nicholas Juson, and Thomas Darvill, Constables of Wendover, being served with the Order of this House to attend, in order to the Amending the Return for that Place, had spoken contemptuous Words; and being this Morning in the Hall, and near the House, had, in further Contempt, departed on Purpose; and had been seduced thereto by one John Kilby of Alesbury, Innkeeper; who was an Agent in the Election for Alderman Backwell;

Resolved, &c. That Nicholas Juson, and Thomas Darvill, Constables of Wendover, be sent for in Custody of the Serjeant at Arms attending this House, to answer their Contempt and Misdemeanor, in neglecting and disobeying the Order of the House; and withdrawing themselves, to avoid the same.

The Question being proposed, That John Kilby be sent for;

And it being moved also, That he be sent for, in Custody;

The Question being put, That the Words "in Custody" be Part of the Question;

Resolved, &c. That John Kilby be sent for, in the Custody of the Serjeant at Arms, to answer the Contempt and Misdemeanor objected against him, in seducing and drawing off the Constables of Wendover from obeying the Order of this House.

Ordered, That the Clerk of the Crown do attend on Monday Morning next, to amend the Return for the Borough of Wendover, as the House shall think fit to direct.

Supply Bill.

The Bill for the King's Supply being brought in, ingrossed; and, lying on the Table;

A Debate being had, about reading the said ingrossed Bill for the King's Supply;

Resolved, &c. That the Debate, touching the Reading the said Bill for his Majesty's Supply, be adjourned till Monday Morning, Ten of the Clock.

The House then proceeded to the Reading of the Amendments, sent from the Lords, to the Bill for preventing Dangers which may happen from Popish Recusants: Which were twice read.

The Question being put, To agree with the Lords to their First Amendment, 1st Skin, line 8th, for inserting the Word "publick" after the Word "any;"

It passed in the Negative.

The Question being put, To agree to the Amendment, line the 17, for reading "Jersey," instead of "Gersey;"

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

The Question being put, To agree to the Amendment in the 18th and 19th Lines, for leaving out "or of the Queen his Consort, or of his Royal Highness the Duke of Yorke;"

It passed in the Negative.

The Question being put, To agree to the Amendment, line 26th, after "Term," add, "or of Trinity Term next following;"

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

The Question being put, To agree to the Amendment, line 31, instead of "Obedience," read "Allegiance;"

It was resolved in the Affirmative; with this Addition, "which Oath of Allegiance is contained in the Statute made in the Third Year of King James."

The Question being put, To agree to the Amendment, Skin the 2d, line the 10th, after "some," insert "Lord's Day commonly called;"

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

The Question being put, To agree to the Amendment, Skin the 5th, line the 18th, instead of "Obedience," read "Allegiance,;"

It was resolved in the Affirmative; with the Addition of the Word "aforesaid," after the Word "Allegiance."

The Question being put, To agree to the Amendment, line the 27th, instead of "Obedience," read "Allegiance;"

It was resolved in the Affirmative.

Resolved, &c. That the further Consideration of the rest of the Amendments be adjourned till To-morrow Morning, Ten of the Clock.
