Prayers.

Bedford Level.

A BILL for repealing a certain Clause in an Act for Draining of Bedford Level in the County of Northampton, was read a Second time.

Resolved, That the Bill be committed to Sir Jos. Tredenham, Lord Castleton, Sir John Barker, Mr. Fitzwilliams, Lord Brackley, Sir Nic. L'Estrange, Mr. Rainsford, Sir Richard May, Mr. Harrington, Sir John Chichley, Sir Justi. Isham, Sir Cha. Windham, Sir John Werden, Mr. Roger North, Sir Char. Meller's Estate.

Mr. Ethrick reports from the Committee to whom the Bill to enable Edward Meller Esquire to sell Lands, for Payment of his Debts, was committed, That the Committee, having taken the same into Consideration, had agreed upon some Amendments to be made to the Bill: Which he read in his Place; and afterwards delivered them in at the Clerk's Table: Where they were again read; and, upon the Question severally put, were agreed to by the House.

Ordered, That the said Bill, with the Amendments, be ingrossed.

Earl of Ossory's Estate.

Sir James Butler reports from the Committee to whom the ingrossed Bill, sent down from the Lords, intituled, An Act enabling James Lord Butler of Moor Parke, Earl of Ossory in the Kingdom Ireland, to settle a Jointure on such Woman, as he shall marry, was committed, That the Committee, having taken the same into their Consideration, had agreed to the same, without any Amendments.

Resolved, That the said Bill be read a Third time.

Carriages for Navy and Ordnance.

A Bill for reviving an Act, intituled, An Act for providing Carriages, by Land and by Water, for the Use of his Majesty's Navy and Ordnance, was read a Second time.

Duty on Tobacco, &c.

A Petition of the Society of Merchants of the City of Bristoll, being presented to the House, mentioning an intended Imposition upon Tobacco and Sugar;

Ordered, That the said Petition be read To-morrow Morning, upon the Second Reading of the Bill for such Imposition.

Cirencester Election.

Ordered, That the Merits of the Election of Burgesses to serve in this present Parliament for the Borough of Cirencester, in the County of Gloucester, be heard before the Committee of Elections and Privileges, on next Saturday-three-weeks.

A Bill for the better Suppressing of Pedlars, Hawkers, and Petty Chapmen, was read a Second time.

Cricklade Return amended.

The Clerk of the Crown being called in, amended the Return for Cricklade in the County of Wilts, by taking off the Indenture under the Common Seal of the Borough, whereby Edmund Webb Esquire alone was returned, and by rasing out the Name of Thomas Freak Esquire, and inserting the Name of the said Edmund Webb, instead thereof, in the Indenture read by the proper Officer; whereby the said Mr. Freak, together with Charles Fox Esquire, was returned.

Simony.

A Bill for Suppressing of Simony was read.

Resolved, That the Bill be read a Second time.

Lord Bruce's Estate.

Ordered, That the Bill to enable Thomas Lord Bruce to make Leases of Lands, for Payment of Debts, be read a Second time on Monday Morning next: And that Counsel be heard at the Bar, upon the Matter of the said Bill.

Hackney Coaches.

Sir John Talbott reports from the Committee appointed to prepare a Bill for regulating of Hackney Coaches (the Revenue arising whereby, as to Part thereof, was ordered to be applied to Chelsey College), That they had prepared such Bill: Which he presented to the House.

And the same being read; and a Debate arising thereupon;

Ordered, That the said Bill be re-committed to the same Committee, upon the Debate of the House.

Earl of Cleaveland's Creditors.

A Petition of Sir Thomas Mackworth, Colonel Windham, and others, Descendants of the Coheirs of the late Lord Hopton, and Creditors of the late Earl of Cleaveland, and Thomas Lord Wentworth his Son, was read.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee to whom the Bill for reviving several Acts made for Relief of the Creditors of the late Earl of Cleaveland, is referred: And they are to report the same, with their Opinion therein, to the House.

St. Ann's Parish.

A Bill to enable the Inhabitants of the intended Parish of St. Ann's, within the Liberty of Westminster, to raise Money to build a Church, to be the Parish Church there, was read a Second time.

A Petition of the Commission and Staff Officers of the Forces, raised in the Year 1677, was read.

Ordered, That the Consideration of the said Petition be referred to the Committee for taking the Accompts of the Commissioners for disbanding the late Forces: And they are to report the same, with their Opinions therein, to the House.

Duty on Tobacco.

A Petition of the Merchants trading to Virginia and Maryland in Tobacco, and to other his Majesty's Plantations in America, together with the Planters, Dealers, and First Buyers of the said Commodity, being presented to the House;

Ordered, That the said Petition be read To-morrow Morning, upon the Second Reading of the Bill for an Imposition upon Sugars and Tobacco.

And then the House adjourned to Nine of the Clock To-morrow Morning.
