Bp.'s manor 1066 and 1086, where 'presbyteri' held 4 hides (DB I 66a).
Church of Ramsbury gr. to cans. by bp. Osmund 1091 (carta). Conf. by pope 26 Nov. 1146 (PUE II no. 53 p. 209).
Preb. prob. in existence c. 1150 (Psalter list). Preb. consisted of church of Ramsbury and chapel of Baydon (I/4/A-C/13; cf. no. 14, and I/19/T-W/1).

First occ. as can. June 1282 (Reg. Pontissara II 382), and as this preb. May-June 1284 (app. 2). Occ. frequently. Ord. dcn. Lent 1288 (Reg. Pecham I 253). Candidate in episcopal el. of 10 May 1288, when he won 2 votes (app. 3). Warden of De Vaux college, occ. from 1289 to d. (VCH Wilts. III 384). Still alive, this preb., 24 Aug. 1294 (B. 482). D. by 23 July 1296 (Sar. Chs. p. 368; cf. III/Archdeacons). Perhaps to be identified with Thomas of Bridport, clk., who had protection to go abroad Oct. 1266 (CPR 1258-66 p. 645).
