Professor Brooke has kindly pointed out to me that Historiola p. 28 dates his el. in June and his cons. in June of the following year and gives the length of the vacancy as 8 years, 8 months and 15 days; in both cases the first element - June and 8 years - seems to be wrong and to echo the next month or number given, June and 8. He suggests that if we emend the vacancy to 6 years, 8 months and 15 days, we arrive at mid-Apr. 1173 for the el., which fits other evidence well. Cf. PR 19 Hen.
